In the closed room, there was not a trace of light; the windows were boarded up, and only a sliver of sunlight managed to seep through the cracks in the wood, dimly illuminating the interior.
A fourteen-year-old boy sat naked in the corner, his body covered in bruises, with a long iron chain locked around his neck.
The length of the chain allowed him to move within the room but prevented him from escaping.
He curled up tightly against the wall, anxiously watching the door, whispering, "Go away, go away! Don't come near me! Don't come near me..."
Outside of C Zone, with Liu You'er’s departure, the situation at the base improved significantly. A group of Advanced Zombies would have been chaotic without higher-level Zombie control; some Advanced Zombies would even fight each other due to territorial instincts.
In a battle against such a Zombie Tide, a well-armed base was naturally at an advantage.
Although the number of Ability users at the base had decreased by nearly half, the barriers surrounding C Zone were made from special materials that had captured Liu You'er. Additionally, most of the soldiers were former military personnel who had not left. Thus, it was difficult for less intelligent Zombies to breach the Barrier. Gunfire echoed throughout the night, and after sacrificing hundreds of Ability users and over a thousand soldiers, they successfully cleared out the Zombies.
Fat Wang's injuries had not fully healed when he sent his subordinate A-Da to assess the situation. A-Da was at the front of the team and clearly saw Liu You'er’s appearance. He was taken aback and thought: Isn't this the fierce woman who attacked me last time? How did she become a Zombie?
However, when he saw the tide of Advanced Zombies surrounding Liu You'er, his legs went weak. Seeing that this woman had turned into a Zombie yet still retained some human rationality while claiming she would let innocent people go made him feel uneasy.
But as he watched person after person escape, pain began to swell in his heart.
If it weren't for their past grievances, he would surely be among those escaping now!
Yet he dared not gamble on whether she would remember him as a Zombie; the stakes were too high. Moreover, Yue Xingze was someone he had helped capture for Fat Wang's amusement. If she found out...
A chill ran down his spine as he hurried to the back of the team, fearing she might recall this matter and kill him. He had not forgotten last time's pain.
Fortunately, that woman seemed solely focused on seeking revenge on Wei Yuan and then vanished without a trace.
The Zombies lost control and reason surged forward toward the light barrier; within ten minutes, a quarter of them had perished. As long as the barrier held for another forty minutes, all these Zombies would surely be dead!
Unfortunately, good times did not last long. After another five minutes, alarms blared throughout the base, announcing that the light barrier would fail in five minutes.
Sure enough, five minutes later came a brutal battle; only a small portion of Third-Level Zombies sensed something amiss and fled while the remaining Advanced Zombies and newly spawned Zombies from D Zone were all exterminated.
The subordinate also participated in the night battle; after all, he understood the principle that when the lips are gone, the teeth are cold. However, as soon as the battle ended, he went to report back to Fat Wang.
He rushed to Fat Wang's office, only to find it empty, which meant he must have gone to the basement.
So, he hurried to the basement, ready to inform Fat Wang of this important news.
Just as he reached the basement door, he heard Fat Wang's heavy breathing and Yue Xingze's painful struggles. A wave of nausea washed over him, but he still gently knocked on the door.
"Knock knock knock."
"Who the hell is it?!"
Fat Wang's furious voice came from inside, making A-Da extremely displeased, yet he pretended to be respectful and said, "Brother Wang, it's A-Da. I have something important to report."
Inside the room, Fat Wang's voice paused for a moment before finally coming through with the sound of clothes rustling. Less than half a minute later, the door opened. Fat Wang appeared with a face full of flesh, his shirt buttons undone, exposing large patches of fat on his body.
Not far behind him, Yue Xingze lay completely naked on the cold concrete floor, motionless; only his shallow breathing proved he was still alive.
Fat Wang noticed A-Da's gaze and shifted his bulky body a step to block his view, asking irritably, "What is it? If it's not important, do you believe I'll feed you to a Zombie?!"
A-Da looked down at Fat Wang and disdainfully thought, "Who do you think you are? So disgusting! If it weren't for your connections in High-Level that got you some newly developed medicine, how could your injuries heal so quickly? Now don't even talk about having fun here; whether you can survive is another matter!"
But despite these thoughts, he showed no sign of it on his face and flatteringly said, "Congratulations, Brother Wang! Congratulations!"
Fat Wang raised an eyebrow, signaling A-Da to continue.
A-Da rolled his eyes internally and continued with his flattery, "Do you remember that woman who was mixed up with Yue Xingze last time?"
Fat Wang's expression darkened as he glanced at Yue Xingze on the ground and said viciously, "Of course I remember!"
They didn't notice that upon hearing this, Yue Xingze's dull eyes suddenly lit up!
A-Da observed Fat Wang's expression and paused for a moment to build suspense until Fat Wang showed signs of impatience before slowly saying, "She has turned into a Zombie!"
"What?!" Fat Wang exclaimed with a mix of surprise and excitement. He continued, "Really?! She's turned into a Zombie?! Haha, hahaha—great! That little bitch! Hahahaha!"
A-Da looked at Fat Wang and felt that the goal had been achieved. Seizing the moment, he said, "Not only that! That woman, even though she has turned into a Zombie, still retains human thoughts. I heard from Li Lei that he plans to report to High-Level and unite all the bases that can be contacted to hunt her down until she is dead! But right now, she might already be dead in the base—hahaha!"
"Hahahahaha! Good! Well done! From now on, you will be in charge of Area One in C Zone! Work hard! I believe you have a bright future! Hahahaha!"
The light in Yue Xingze's eyes had already dimmed, as deep and unfathomable as the sea at night.
After Fat Wang and A-Da spoke, he could no longer hear them; he only knew that the beautiful figure had transformed into the most disgusting creature in the World and would never be seen again.
He did not know how long it had been when a lewd hand once again touched his body, bringing him back to reality.
Fat Wang's lecherous face was right in front of him, making him feel nauseous. He saw Fat Wang moving while whispering in his ear, "You know, from the first time I saw you, I was attracted to you. Unfortunately, your brother kept bothering me back then, preventing me from getting close to you!"
Fat Wang looked at the unresponsive Yue Xingze beneath him and continued gently, "So when he went on a mission, I made sure he would never come back..."
Upon hearing this, Yue Xingze's pupils dilated, his teeth clenched tightly, his fists tightened, and his nails dug into his flesh without him feeling anything.
Fat Wang laughed loudly, his foul breath spraying onto Yue Xingze's face, making him feel even more disgusted and filled with a desire to kill Fat Wang! To kill him in the most brutal way!
As his killing intent grew stronger, an unprecedented surge of energy suddenly rose from his Dantian, filling every cell in his body with power!
A stream of black liquid emerged from his fingertips, under his control, surrounding the unsuspecting Fat Wang...
