"Poisoned?"
Liu You'er hesitated for a moment, then produced a climbing rope that quickly bound him behind her, and began weaving through the Scorpion army.
Her teleportation was so swift that often just as the Scorpions noticed her, she would vanish again.
This continued until the sun rose and the temperature gradually increased. The Scorpions could no longer endure it and began to retreat into the shadows or burrow underground, covering themselves completely with sand, leaving no trace.
"Haah."
Liu You'er did not dare to relax, carefully observing as a drop of sweat trickled down from her body.
With her evolution, she felt tireless, and her body seemed to be approaching that of a human; she could cry, express emotions, and feel pain.
Aside from her emotions becoming somewhat numb, there was nothing else.
Would there come a day when even as a Zombie, her emotions would become complete? Yet, she found herself not feeling the slightest expectation about it.
Suddenly realizing that such thoughts were a waste of time, she chose to quickly leave and find a shadowy spot.
This level of exposure to the sun was unbearable for mutated animals, and Zombies disliked it even more.
Carrying the person on her back, she walked for over an hour before spotting a Poplar Tree. After checking it for danger and finding none, she immediately sat down in its shade and untied the rope. The person behind her immediately slumped down onto the ground, half-opening his eyes to look at her.
Seeing him in such a weak state felt somewhat novel to Liu You'er; after all, it was her first time witnessing this. Her gaze shifted downward to his arm and noticed that it had already changed color. If he weren't so physically resilient, he probably would have died after just one night.
"Uh~"
He let out a muffled sound of discomfort, his lips moving without producing any words.
Liu You'er looked at his wound for a while, feeling a bit lost. She didn't know how to cure Scorpion poison, so she thought about trying what she had seen on TV, treating a dead horse as if it were alive.
She nodded, conjured a small knife in her hand, pulled Xuan Mo's arm over, and quickly made several cuts on it before squeezing hard.
As the black blood flowed out in torrents and began to turn red, she took out Yunnan Baiyao to stop the bleeding.
After thinking for a moment, she crushed some tea leaves and mixed them with well water to apply on his wound. After wrapping it with gauze, she lifted his head and fed him the remaining water before casually tossing him aside, his head sinking into the sand and kicking up a bit of dust.
She waved her hand in disdain, shifted to sit beside him, and lay there in a daze. In truth, she wasn't thinking about anything; her mind was blank. But that felt quite nice, bringing a sense of calm.
When Xuan Mo woke up, it was already afternoon. The sun was still glaring, causing him to squint as he looked at his arm. Although it was stained with blood, at least it had been treated. Turning his gaze to the side, he saw Liu You'er lying quietly there, the sunlight outlining her perfect figure.
Though her expression was somewhat stiff and her skin very pale, under the dim sunlight, there was a warm feeling that was pleasing to the eye.
"Thank you."
Liu You'er was still immersed in her pleasant daze when she heard this and didn't want to come out of it so quickly. She simply nodded and said, "I was actually planning to throw you away. No need to thank me."
Xuan Mo chuckled and mimicked her posture, lying down head-to-head with her. "Do you have to be so honest? Then why didn't you throw me away? Reluctant? Haha~"
"Reluctant?"
Liu You'er pondered the feeling from that moment. Why was she hesitating? Unfortunately, there was no answer.
"Maybe I still want a bit of humanity."
"......"
Xuan Mo said nothing and turned his head to the other side.
At that moment, the sun was setting, and something in the distance seemed to flash, resembling a glimmer of water, causing him to sit up suddenly. As the sun completely disappeared, that light also vanished.
"What happened?"
Liu You'er followed his gaze and found nothing there.
"I think I saw a glimmer of water..."
"A glimmer of water?"
Liu You'er thought for a moment, then slowly got up and said, "Could it be an oasis?"
Xuan Mo nodded and replied, "Maybe, but it could also be a trap."
Liu You'er nodded, and a piece of bread appeared in her hand. "Eat this; we need to go."
Xuan Mo looked at the words "Children's Breakfast" on the packaging, paused for a moment, and silently finished it.
Having something is better than having nothing, right?
Underground Base
"You and Liu Yue go bring her back. Remember, alive."
Liu Yue was taken aback and looked up, saying, "My sister's ability hasn't recovered yet. It's too dangerous to go like this. Why don't I go alone?"
"Alone? Can you handle it?"
"...Yes, I can."
Liu Xinxuan observed Liu Yue's serious expression and the corners of her mouth curled up slightly.
W naturally did not miss her small gesture and nodded, saying, "Go ahead. I will talk to your sister about something else."
"Understood."
Once Liu Yue went down and the door closed, W coldly said, "Watch him. If necessary, kill him."
Liu Xinxuan understood what that meant and nodded before heading down as well.
Desert
Liu You'er and Xuan Mo walked for half the night before finally seeing a patch of greenery. Under the moonlight and against the backdrop of the endless desert, it appeared exceptionally beautiful yet somewhat tempting.
Desert Oasis
Only by crossing the desert and witnessing the boundless yellow sand could one understand how sacred and beautiful an oasis is, evoking a sense of reverence.
So beautiful
The word appeared in both of their minds simultaneously; however, they both knew that it was far more dangerous there than outside.
"Let's go, there are people inside, and quite a few."
Liu You'er's gaze emitted a sharp light under the reflection of the moonlight, and her expression was serious.
"Mm."
Xuan Mo sighed with a hint of regret, estimating that this would likely be ruined as well. However, the moment they entered the oasis, they were taken aback.
They saw a fourteen-year-old girl picking fruits, without a trace of Ability fluctuations. She was either stronger than them or just an ordinary person. Yet, upon seeing them, she showed no fear at all. Instead, her face lit up with excitement as she rushed towards them and asked, "Are you people from outside?"
The innocence and childlike wonder in her eyes left the two seasoned individuals momentarily speechless.
In the next second, the girl excitedly ran off, calling out as she ran, "People from outside have come~ People from outside have come~"
"…"
Uh... The two looked at each other in confusion. What was going on?
