Rek had also turned into a Zombie, and then a voice echoed in his mind, "Mission failed, restarting, character initialization, all bodily functions restored."
When the mission began again, Rek asked the War God System, "Can you explain the classification of Zombie levels to me? Also, what level was the Fat Zombie I killed before?"
"The Fat Zombie belongs to the Third-Stage Zombie.
Zero-Level Zombie: Moves slowly, combat ability equivalent to an untrained human.
First-Level Zombie: Physical attributes equivalent to a normal human warrior.
Second-Level Zombie: Physical attributes equivalent to five times that of a normal human warrior.
Third-Stage Zombie: Physical attributes equivalent to ten times that of a normal human warrior.
Fourth-Level Zombie: Possesses basic intelligence, with Ability and physical attributes equivalent to thirty times that of a normal human warrior.
Fifth-Stage Zombie: Possesses advanced intelligence, has powerful Ability, and physical attributes exceeding one hundred times that of a normal human.
Note: Host's physical data is close to that of a First-Level Zombie."
Not knowing was one thing, but asking was shocking. Rek realized that his current body was even inferior to a first-stage Zombie, yet the System expected him to kill a Fifth-Stage Zombie.
Just moments ago, it took both Rek and Maya working together to barely defeat a Third-Stage Zombie, and Rek had even been scratched and infected in the process.
Rek felt that defeating the Fifth-Stage Zombie would be extremely difficult.
For example, if a first-stage athlete runs 100 meters in 10 seconds, then a fifth-stage one would do it in 0.1 seconds, or even faster. The Fifth-Stage Zombie is simply superhuman.
A new scene began again, with Rek sitting in a classroom surrounded by a group of Nurse companions, starting the lesson.
Rek glanced at his blue-haired classmate Maya. When Maya noticed Rek stealing a look at her, she returned him a smile.
"Don't daydream, focus on the class!" Maya whispered to Rek.
After class, "Maya, I want to learn swordsmanship from you. I heard you are very skilled."
"Can you keep it up?"
---
After three months of practicing swordsmanship and training his body with Maya, Rek rented a large bus filled with plenty of water and food before the exam.
Rek bribed the school’s logistics staff to park the bus at the back exit of the building where the exam was held.
The next day, Rek secretly took Maya's longsword in the morning and brought along a sharpened long knife, which he packed and placed under the podium in the exam room. He also concealed two sharp daggers in his arms.
The midterm exam began, and Rek anxiously waited. Just like in the previous scene, an explosion was heard outside the window.
After the sound of an explosion, Rek quickly got up and ran to Casey and Lily's side.
Rek prayed that the two of them would not be like in the previous world, unconscious and infected. Otherwise, he would have to kill two Fifth-Stage Zombies to clear the level.
However, what Rek feared happened; Casey and Lily fell unconscious again and turned into Zombies.
This time, Rek reacted quickly, immediately pulling out two daggers from his pocket and decapitating both of them.
"Ah!" "You killed them!"
"Rek, what have you done?" A girl's panicked voice came from the room.
Maya also got up, looking at Rek in disbelief.
"Just look outside the window and you'll know. An unknown virus has broken out, and Casey and Lily have turned into those Zombie monsters. I had no choice but to kill them. If you want to survive, follow me and don't run around," Rek said, blocking the door.
"Maya, go to the podium and get the weapons out," Rek instructed, pointing at the podium.
Maya walked over to the podium in confusion, pulling out a large package from underneath. Inside, she found her longsword and several sharp long knives. Maya looked at Rek with surprise in her eyes.
"Did you know something beforehand? I want an explanation!" Maya asked Rek.
"Now is not the time for explanations. Once we reach a safe place, I'll explain everything," Rek replied.
The female student looked at the corridor and the outside, where the zombies had begun to eat people, creating chaos. She glanced at Rek, who had previously decapitated Casey and Lily; they were all trembling in fear.
"Follow me, don't fall behind, and don't scream. Noise will attract the zombies. I have prepared a bus and food downstairs; I can take you all to safety," Rek said firmly.
As the class leader, Rek began to comfort the several female classmates who were panicking in the classroom.
After a while, Rek, Maya, and a few female classmates armed with weapons started to leave the exam room. Under Rek's leadership, they ran towards the school bus.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly with Rek and Maya as their two main fighters. Most of the zombies were low-level, and none could withstand a single strike from them before having their heads chopped off.
Once everyone was on the bus, Rek started it up and drove them away from the crowded area.
However, on the third day, they encountered a Third-Stage Zombie. Maya and Rek worked together to kill it without anyone getting hurt. But on the tenth day, when food was running low, they faced a Fourth-Level Zombie. Maya fought hard and got injured but managed to kill it.
Soon after, Maya noticed that her wound had begun to fester and bleed. With a regretful look at Rek, she said, "Stay alive."
Maya committed suicide with her longsword.
Now Rek's mission indicated that due to the deaths of Maya, Lily, and Casey, she needed to kill three Fifth-Stage Zombies within the remaining nine months to complete her mission.
A month later, Rek faced a Fourth-Level Zombie alone and managed to kill it by chance.
Rek continued to lead her female classmates in their escape. By the sixth month, ten people had already died. To complete her mission, Rek needed to kill ten Fifth-Stage Zombies.
Rek attempted to provoke a Fifth-Stage Zombie but unfortunately was killed instantly by it with one strike, causing her mission to reset once again.
Thus, Rek began his own battle, fighting continuously, dying repeatedly and returning to the classroom to spend three months of peaceful campus life with 29 classmates known as Nurses. Ten times, a hundred times, a thousand times—
He was stuck at the Fifth-Stage Zombie level. Each time the mission restarted, his physical abilities reset to their original values, with only his combat experience retained.
In the first three months after the outbreak of the Zombie Virus, he trained frantically to improve his physical fitness and tried to acquire heavy weapons, but his physical abilities could only reach the level of a Second-Level Zombie, and his combat strength was barely enough to defeat a Fourth-Level Zombie.
The Fifth-Stage Zombie was no longer something that normal humans or the existing weapons in this world could handle; a single strike could instantly kill Rek.
Endless battles, endless failures.
"Mission failed, restarting, character initialization, all bodily functions restored."
"Mission failed, restarting, character initialization, all bodily functions restored."
"Mission failed, restarting, character initialization, all bodily functions restored."
This voice seemed like the call of a demon.
During one battle, Rek's mind broke down. However, upon dying and restarting, he discovered that the War God System had "kindly helped him" repair his injured psyche.
