After experiencing countless cycles, which he could no longer count himself, Rek ultimately gave up.
For the first three months in this world, he indulged in food and drink, and as soon as those three months were over, he committed suicide.
Thus, he enjoyed this cycle over a hundred times.
He had had enough of eating, drinking, and playing, but the cycles continued. Without completing the tasks, the nightmare would not end.
Rek looked at the warm reminder in the System Task: "This task will not result in Host's death. For every ten thousand years that pass in the task world, only one second will pass in reality. If the task takes too long, the War God System will control Host's body to avoid danger and replenish energy. So go ahead and fight boldly, young man."
Rek could only smile bitterly.
One second in reality equaled ten thousand years in the task world.
"System, I want to give up. Just find a new Host. I've given up; you can kill me," Rek shouted at the System in his mind. This endless cycle of tasks had driven him to the brink of collapse.
"This task does not allow for abandonment," the cold voice of the System echoed in Rek's mind.
"Then when can I die?"
"Rest assured, while Host is on a mission, the System will assist Host with food and avoid all dangers. Even if Alien Species invade the Main Plane of Earth, the System will control Host's body to hide and help delay aging. Preliminary calculations indicate that Host can live for at least 500 years."
Upon hearing this, Rek silently calculated in his mind: one second in reality equals ten thousand years here; ten thousand years multiplied by 60 multiplied by 60 multiplied by 24 multiplied by 365 multiplied by 500 equals 15,768,000,000 years before he could die.
He did not know how many cycles had passed again; Rek sat in the last row of the classroom, staring blankly at the blackboard while listening to lessons he could recite by heart.
"Hey, what's wrong with you? You seem a bit dazed. Why is a big guy like you applying to be a nurse?" A crisp voice rang out beside Rek.
Rek turned his head and saw Muya, the class monitor.
"I got tricked by someone," Rek replied lazily. He had answered this question many times to Maya during the previous ten cycles.
"Actually, the nurse is pretty good, hehe," Rek said this time with a new line, speaking to Maya.
Thus, the two began to exchange words.
As they communicated, Muya discovered that some difficult questions posed to this seemingly dull boy beside her would immediately receive correct answers.
Three months passed unknowingly, and Rek surprisingly managed to win Muya's heart. Just as the Zombie outbreak was about to occur, Muya found out she was pregnant.
Knowing he was going to be a father, Rek began to show a fierce side, and his combat abilities started to manifest.
"When I get serious, even I get scared." After becoming a father, the berserk state of Rek had transformed him; after numerous cycles, his combat skills had become extremely powerful. Although he couldn't defeat a Fifth-Stage Zombie, he could certainly evade one.
Thus, Rek lived in the world of Biohazard with his pregnant partner Muya.
The countdown of one year quickly approached. Looking at the timer in his mind, Rek realized there were only ten days left. Without his protection, only Muya and he remained alive in their class; the current number of survivors showed as 2.
On the third day remaining in the countdown, Muya gave birth to a baby.
"Ah," Rek suddenly exclaimed. His surprise wasn't just about the baby but because the number of survivors in his mind had changed to three.
"Wow, this mission can actually be played like this! It turns out it's not a combat mission but a nurturing mission!" Rek jumped up in delight.
The biohazard crisis occurred three months into the mission, and two classmates turned into Zombies right away.
Rek had always thought that it was the System prompting him to kill two Fifth-Stage Zombies. But now he realized he was wrong; having two babies and leading the remaining surviving students to escape could also complete the mission.
A year has come to an end.
Having learned the tricks to clear the game, Rek's once cold heart began to heat up again.
"Three months to pursue two girls in one cycle is a bit difficult. It's better to pursue one at a time; love is about being devoted. As long as I protect all my classmates while having a supportive girlfriend, I can just have twins in one go to clear the game.
Excluding the two girls who have turned into Zombies, there are 27 classmates left. I will pursue one in each cycle and have one baby until I have twins. That makes 27 for one cycle; let's tentatively say ten cycles."
Thus, Rek set a ten-cycle plan for himself.
"Mission failed, restarting, character initialization, all bodily functions restored."
"Mission failed, restarting, character initialization, all bodily functions restored."
This time, when Rek heard the mission failure prompt, he was no longer confused; he felt full of energy.
In the first cycle, all twenty-seven had one child each, and the ten-cycle plan continued.
The second cycle also ended in failure.
In the third cycle, when it was classmate Muya's turn, she gave birth to twins.
"Ding dong, mission accomplished. Congratulations Host for completing the prologue of the Immortal Mission: Biohazard. Mission completion rating: B Rank.
Warm inquiry: Host, after experiencing this world, do you still insist on keeping that extra hormone-releasing organ? It is the greatest potential for human evolution. If you had followed System's advice to remove it earlier, this mission would not have appeared.
Issuing mission Reward: Two-choice mode. First choice: Host can choose to receive a lottery chance for a B Rank item. This lottery can grant Host an item that enhances strength immediately, thus giving Host a better chance of survival during the Xeno Outbreak in a year and a month. It is recommended that Host choose this option.
Second choice: In the normal world where the parasite exists in time and space, add Maya as a real person."
The existence of Maya does not have any memory of Host in the mission world. The location of Maya's appearance is unknown, and whether Host will encounter Maya in the future depends solely on Host's luck.
"The War God System's voice, laced with mockery, echoed in Rek's mind.
Rek thought that if he hadn't been a father in that mission world and relied on Maya to complete the task, he would have definitely chosen the first option, as he had always aimed to become stronger.
However, now that Rek heard the evil choices presented by the War God System, he hesitated.
"War God System, you really are a bastard. I choose the second option, to let Maya truly exist in my world, even if I may never have the chance to see her again," Rek shouted angrily at the War God System in his mind.
"Congratulations, Host, for giving up the first lottery reward and saving some energy for the System.
A warm reminder: all the people in the virtual space-time where Host just was were projected based on characters randomly selected from Host's current time and space by the System.
Even if Host did not choose the second option, Maya would still exist in Host's time and space.
The System left Host with the second choice to argue against what Host said about certain organs being the potential for human evolution," the War God System sneered in Rek's mind.
"Debating topics? You big-headed fool! Your shamelessness knows no bounds." Rek felt like he was about to explode with anger and decided not to speak to that tormenting War God System in his mind anymore tonight.
