The next day, as dawn broke, Rek got up and walked to the window, looking at the streets of the Main World. In four days, he would leave the Main World for Dark Space, and he felt a bit uneasy.
"Do you want to become stronger, Host? Are you feeling confused about the future? A true War God does not doubt himself and does not fear the future; you still need to train," the cold voice of the War God System echoed in Rek's mind.
"If only the Dark Space invasion had not occurred, and humanity had not discovered the passage to Dark Space! Then the apocalypse would not have happened, and people could still live peacefully on Earth." Having survived in the apocalypse for nearly twenty years, Rek reflected on the scenes that would unfold a year and one month later when the Dark Space Alien disaster erupted, speaking more to himself than anyone else.
"What if Earth had not discovered the dark Spatial Channel? Would you like to see how people live in that Parallel Space?" the War God System asked.
"Not discovering a dark Spatial Channel? If it really exists, it would be good to take a look!" Rek instinctively replied.
Rek never expected that such a casual remark would soon lead him to an extremely dangerous mission fraught with disaster.
"Ding dong, scanning indicates that Host is experiencing doubts about the future and is in a state of confusion. To correct Host's erroneous thoughts, the War God System mission is activated.
Mission Name: Prologue to Humanity's Destruction Survival
Mission Description: Host will travel to a Parallel Space within the Main Plane of Earth where no dark Spatial Channel has been discovered.
In that timeline, the Glorious Empire and the Star Alliance Federation have been at war for fifty years over the remaining energy resources on Earth.
The time point for Host's entry into this Parallel Space is two months before the Star Alliance Federation launches a Seismic Weapon against the Glorious Empire, triggering underground volcanoes and melting icebergs within Glorious Empire territory, aiming to annihilate them in one fell swoop.
After the Star Alliance Federation activates its Seismic Weapon, the Glorious Empire will retaliate with all its destructive bombs in a desperate attempt to take down the Star Alliance Federation.
Host only needs to survive in this world of destruction and witness the prologue to Earth's demise.
Mission Completion Condition: Survive for 90 days without discovering a passage to Dark Space in Earth's timeline.
Mission Failure Condition: Host's death.
Mission Completion Reward: After completing this survival prologue mission, Host will understand that humanity's disasters are unrelated to discovering Dark Space Aliens. Host will no longer feel confused. The System will also evaluate Host's performance during the mission and grant one lottery chance as a reward.
Mission Failed Punishment: The mission failed, and the Host is dead, so there is no need for the System to issue a Punishment. Just go ahead and replace the current War God System Host." The exceptionally cold voice of the War God System echoed in Rek's mind.
"What! War God System, you misunderstood me! Besides, even if there is no dark Spatial Channel, you don't have to create an apocalyptic world for me to experience!
I was just saying it casually, dear System! Cancel this mission, I'm not at all confused about the future; whoever is confused is a fool.
I feel that having a dark Spatial Channel world is great; it's exactly the kind of world I want. I don't want to survive for 90 days in your apocalyptic world." Rek hurriedly spoke to the War God System in his mind. Just hearing about this mission made him realize how difficult it would be to survive for another 30 days after the entire world was struck by the Doomsday Weapon.
"That apocalyptic Earth world truly exists. It can be said to be a possible future trajectory for the Earth where the Host resides.
If humanity on Earth does not discover the entrance to Dark Space, there is over a 90% chance that the future of the Earth where the Host resides will lead to a self-destructive apocalypse.
Moreover, once mentioned by the Host, missions issued by the System cannot be revoked.
If the Host confirms they want to revoke the mission, it is recommended to choose to refuse the mission, which will directly result in experiencing the Soul Purgatory Punishment mode." The large teeth of the War God System's head ground together as it spoke to Rek.
A red "Refuse Mission" appeared in front of Rek's mind, followed by a hellish scene of yellowish flames burning with piles of skulls.
A blue "Accept Mission" button loomed large.
"I accept! You're impressive, System!" Rek extended his middle finger and pressed "Accept Mission," pointing towards the sky.
Then, everything went dark for Rek.
When he regained consciousness, he found himself lying on a playground covered in dust and surrounded by piles of stones, wearing very tattered clothes. Many other boys and girls around his age were also dressed in rags, most of them holding laser guns or Laser Swords.
There were also several people partially armored with Genetic Mech, gathered together talking or moving around on the dilapidated playground.
Rek quickly got up and sensed that fortunately, the recently integrated Genetic Mech was still within him.
Climbing to a higher point on the stone pile, he looked around. The sky was dark and gloomy. He was currently in a school located in a city that had been ravaged by war multiple times.
Outside the school were remnants of collapsed buildings and some old abandoned vehicles parked along the roadside. Most of the school's walls had collapsed, and even the teaching building where he was standing had partially caved in, covered with a thick layer of dust.
Taking a breath of air made him cough violently; it felt like he inhaled a mouthful of dirt.
"This environment is even worse than during the later stages of the invasion by the Alien Species. Although the Alien Species are brutal, at least they don't destroy the environment," Rek lamented inwardly.
Rek pulled a piece of fabric from the already limited supply of underwear to use as a mask, and a sour smell wafted from it.
"How long has it been since you washed this! System, do you dare to make my situation even worse?" Rek complained angrily to the War God System in his mind, but received no response.
Rek then felt an itch on his skin and rolled up his shirt to find small red spots on his arms.
This itching and the appearance of red spots were experiences Rek had encountered during the apocalypse in his previous life, a natural reaction of the skin after being in a high-virus radiation infection zone.
In Rek's previous life, when Alien Species had just invaded the Main Plane of Earth, the Glorious Empire attempted to resist the invasion by launching a bioweapon that had been secretly developed for over a decade against a city that had fallen to the Alien Species.
As a result, only a few of the Alien Species in that city died initially, and there was no further sustained damage. Instead, most of the survivors and hiding humans in that city eventually succumbed to infection or underwent Gene Collapse, turning into monsters.
In the following years, any human who approached the area of that city attacked by the Glorious Empire's Biochemical Weapon would develop red spots and itching on their bodies.
If they got closer or stayed too long, congratulations—you would no longer feel itchy; you would directly transform into a monster or die from bodily decay.
Later, researchers analyzed captured Alien Species through dissection and virus drug testing and reached a conclusion.
The Dark Space where Alien Species lived was filled with numerous mixed toxic gases and chaotic radioactive materials, allowing them to evolve beyond fear of ordinary Biochemical Weapons.
It could be said that Alien Species thrived on land contaminated by Biochemical Weapon radiation.
