"Private Rek, you have shown great bravery on the battlefield this past month.
But the war is coming to an end! The Star Alliance Federation and the Glorious Empire are about to reach a peace agreement.
The ceasefire agreement will be announced in the next few days.
The probe launched into outer space has indeed found a planet rich in energy suitable for human habitation. You will return as a frontline hero to participate in the signing ceremony of the final peace talks," the Overall Commander said, patting Rek on the shoulder.
"Really? After fighting for over fifty years, with so many lives lost on both sides, can it really end so easily?" Rek asked skeptically. After all, above his right eye, he could see the countdown for the two nations' Ultimate Weapon still ticking down with just over ten days left; it certainly didn't look like a ceasefire was imminent.
"The two nations went to war to compete for existing energy resources and some mining rights. The probe found a planet with energy several times that of Earth, which is also suitable for human habitation.
Continuing the fight has no meaning anymore. You need to take this fast hover transport ship to headquarters," said the Overall Commander of Special Forces, patting Rek's shoulder as if relieved.
"Mining energy from outer space requires significant initial investment in facilities, and immigration is not something that can be accomplished in the short term. Even if the discovered planet is close to us, we in the Star Alliance don't have that many Spaceships," Rek said doubtfully.
"Finding a planet suitable for human habitation is just an excuse for a ceasefire. After so many years of fighting, the high-ranking officials of the Star Alliance Federation and the Glorious Empire may have wanted peace long ago, but with so many lives lost on the battlefield over these years, there was never a suitable excuse or timing to call for peace," said the Special Operations Commander with some emotion.
"Mm." Rek didn't say more. He took the orders and walked out of the Special Operations Commander's office.
This order to witness the signing of the peace talks completely disrupted Rek's previous plan to hide in an Underground Shelter.
"One step at a time; I can only grit my teeth and go through with it. The Doomsday Weapon strikes cannot stop; in just over ten days, doomsday will begin.
But as someone designated by the military, I must be present to witness the signing of the peace agreement. It's truly ironic! I hope that after attending, there will still be time to rush back to this Underground Shelter or find a safer hiding place," Rek thought as he boarded the high-speed Transport Ship amid his teammates' farewells.
---
In just over an hour, Rek disembarked from the high-speed troop transport ship and arrived at the legendary Star Alliance Military headquarters.
The headquarters turned out to be a massive fortress that could hover and move above ground, somewhat resembling what Rek had seen in his Previous Life—the last city of humanity resisting Alien Species within the Star Alliance.
Walking along the Metal Passage, Rek was assigned by soldiers to his small quarters and informed that he would receive a limited supply of hot water for bathing each day, along with food.
In the remaining days, Rek was summoned by several military departments to attend external receptions.
Recently, at the headquarters of the Star Alliance Military, I heard some news. During this peace talk period, the Star Alliance Federation and the Glorious Empire are preparing to jointly launch a spaceship named Pioneer into space.
The mission of Pioneer is to verify whether the information about habitable planets discovered by the probe is accurate.
"Spaceship, leaving Earth, safe after staying in space for over a month! Right!" Rek suddenly thought of a way to survive in case the Ultimate Weapon destroyed the Earth.
With the remaining time, Rek began to inquire about the crew list for the Pioneer spaceship.
It is said that the crew sent by the Glorious Empire consists of a pair of sisters who are very powerful and have undergone first-generation evolution and fusion of Angel Gene.
On the Star Alliance side, there were originally three male reserve crew members. However, one recently fell seriously ill, another was killed by a grenade on the battlefield not long ago, and one became fearful and wanted to withdraw from becoming an astronaut.
With no new astronauts settled on the Star Alliance side, Rek felt an opportunity had come.
In the remaining days, Rek started to approach department heads, persistently expressing his determination to become an astronaut for the spaceship, even if it meant death.
After several small setbacks, Rek finally achieved his wish and became one of the three reserve astronauts. After final reviews, one will be selected from these three reserve astronauts to represent the Star Alliance Federation and fly into space with the pair of Sister Flowers from the Glorious Empire.
Rek sat in the Political Review room with a lie detector attached.
"If this space flight is a one-way journey, Private Rek, are you sure you still want to participate? Your answer will affect the final judgment of this review; please speak honestly about what you think."
"I must participate! I heard that the two Angel Gene Sister Flowers from the Glorious Empire are very beautiful. If I have their company, then if I can't come back, so be it! I might still have a chance to become a new Adam of this era!" Rek said after thinking for a moment.
The few people responsible for questioning took notes with their heads down.
"If you encounter danger during space flight and must choose between ensuring your life or protecting important material information, which would you choose?"
"If you say that the importance of those materials for humanity's future outweighs my life and existence, I would resolutely choose to protect the materials," Rek replied.
Rek thought to himself that he had the War God System in his mind. The villain of War God System often said that the System is the greatest existence in the universe; thus, his value as a Host should be higher as well.
"If—"
After being questioned for three consecutive hours, Rek was called out for a thorough physical examination.
Rek felt uncertain inside; after answering a series of strange questions, he wondered if he would be selected.
In a secret room within the Star Alliance Federation Military, four elders were examining the identity information, medical reports, and the Comprehensive Evaluation of the Political Review questions for Rek and two others.
The four highest authorities of the Star Alliance Military began to discuss:
"Among these three, Liu Tianliang, Major General, was originally the most suitable for the Political Review. Unfortunately, his medical examination shows that he has been exposed to a small amount of radioactive material. Although it can be treated, it will take time. Should we allow this Major General to enter Pioneer with recovery equipment?"
"Nonsense! Once radioactive material irradiates the genetic makeup of the species inside Pioneer, who will bear that risk?
You all know this is a one-way trip that concerns the future of humanity.
The spaceship carries genes from many species on Earth that have not been contaminated by radiation, in order to sow seeds of hope on a planet suitable for human survival.
Those who go will not return; as the first batch of Pioneer pilots, they will die on an alien planet. The Earth's energy has been nearly exhausted; our generation has become the sinners of Earth."
"Don't be too pessimistic. The Outer Space Probe has discovered two planets that are both suitable for human habitation. The mission of this spaceship is to confirm which of the two planets is better, allowing humanity to continue in the universe.
By the time the spaceship confirms a planet, we will have already destroyed the Glorious Empire and used all of Earth's resources to establish Spaceships and initiate the Advanced Human Immigration Program."
