“Rek! What are you doing hugging that sister?” A crisp girl's voice came from not far away.
Dressed in sportswear, Moon Goddess quickly ran to Rek and the curvaceous female doctor.
Moon Goddess glanced over the female doctor's figure and then looked at herself.
“I felt a bit dizzy just now!” Rek said casually.
“You can still feel dizzy? You’ve been bouncing around for hours, doing something like a roller coaster, and you can feel dizzy?” Moon Goddess pouted her little lips, clearly unhappy with Rek.
“Well, thank you. I feel much better now after getting some fresh air. I'm not dizzy anymore,” Rek said as he released the nurse who was supporting him.
Hearing the conversation between Rek and Moon Goddess, the female doctor smiled.
“You and your friend are in great shape. This isn't your first time riding the Spatial Train in Dark Space, is it?” Nurse asked Rek, clearly interested and not angry.
“This is our first time. We’re going to the Super Warrior Academy. I’m also studying medicine; here’s my nurse's certificate. I’ll just help support Rek.
Doctor, you can go treat other students now. I think they need your help more,” Moon Goddess interjected before the Female Military Doctor could speak, showing her nursing certificate.
“My name is Eikana, and I’m a doctor from the First Aid Team of the Sanctuary. Unfortunately, we’re not in the same Fortress. When I return to the Sanctuary Base next year, feel free to look for me,” the female doctor said with a charming smile at Rek, then turned to leave.
Moon Goddess raised her little hand and pinched Rek's waist: “What are you looking at? She’s already far away. I just left you for a moment, and you found a new doctor? Do you not want me anymore?
This one named Eikana even said we’ll meet again next year when she returns to the Sanctum.
Oh my! I was only gone for such a short time, and you’ve already set up a date? If I come back later, will you two—” Moon Goddess’s little face darkened as she looked at Rek with an angry expression.
“Don’t say nonsense, little one. You’ve been misinformed about our human society lately; have you been watching too many unhealthy things?” Rek chuckled as he patted Moon Goddess on the head.
“Don’t pat my head! I’m not a child! I’m almost sixteen! Don’t change the subject; why did that doctor named Eikana say she would see you next year?” After shaking off his hand from her head, Moon Goddess stubbornly pressed on with her questions.
"You have seen it too; we are currently inside the base called Sanctum in Dark Space. Under normal circumstances, this massive Sanctuary Base cannot move.
The purpose of Sanctum is not only to guard the entrance to space, preventing creatures from Dark Space from entering the Human Main World through the Space Tunnel, but also to serve as a transit station.
Sanctum receives rare mineral energy and other resources transported by the twelve much smaller Mobile Fortresses, loads them into the Spatial Train, and returns them to Main Dimension Earth through the Spatial Channel. It also distributes some living supplies sent from Earth to the twelve Mobile Fortresses.
The Super Soldier Academy Fortress is one of the twelve small Mobile Fortresses of the Star Alliance Military in Dark Space.
Look straight ahead; connected to Sanctum is the Super Soldier Academy we are about to head to.
The twelve Mobile Fortresses, according to Earth time, spend about eleven months each year in Dark Space, away from the Space Tunnel, collecting and mining energy.
The remaining month will be spent returning to the Sanctuary Base, where they will export the mined energy and receive necessary supplies and repairs.
The twelve small mobile Fortresses will return to the Sanctuary Base at staggered times, ensuring that there is always a small fortress connected to the base for energy transfer to the Main Plane of Earth," Rek explained to the Moon Goddess.
Upon hearing Rek's words, the Moon Goddess felt relieved. "So, we have about a month before we leave this large base, Sanctum.
After that, for eleven months, once we enter the Super Soldier Academy, we will be moving far away and you won't see that female doctor, Eikana, again."
"Look, there's another small Fortress moving closer to the Sanctuary Base.
It seems that the Super Soldier Academy has been docked at Sanctum for almost a month now. Once our group of new students arrives, it will depart from Sanctum.
And stop dwelling on that female doctor, Eikana!
I really don't know what you're thinking all day; you should focus more on improving your medical skills!" Rek playfully flicked Moon Goddess on her forehead.
"Ouch!" Moon Goddess rubbed her head and shot Rek a glare.
Afterwards, Moon Goddess and Rek were checked by soldiers at Sanctum for their identity information. Seeing that both could walk normally without feeling dizzy, they were cleared.
"Welcome to the Dark Space Star Alliance Sanctuary Base. Are you with the medical team? Would you like to rest here at our Sanctum for a night or head directly to report at the Super Soldier Academy?"
"Let's go directly to report at the Super Soldier Academy. Please tell us the route," Moon Goddess interjected before Rek could respond.
"Oh!" Rek nodded in agreement.
"I'll download a temporary map of Sanctum for you. You can go to all the green areas.
Your reporting deadline is before noon tomorrow. There's still a day left, so I suggest you stay here in Sanctum for a night. After all, you'll be spending nearly a year at the Super Soldier Academy, so there's no rush.
Since it's your first time in Sanctum, don't wander around. There are many forks in the Metal Passage here," the soldier said kindly to Rek and Moon Goddess.
Rek used his Wrist Communicator to connect with the soldier and downloaded the Virtual Map.
Rek felt fortunate that the Star Alliance Military in Dark Space was still in a relatively peaceful period, without the crisis of a Xeno Outbreak.
Although the military had discipline, the soldiers stationed at Sanctuary Base were generally friendly to new recruits.
The soldiers in Sanctum had seen too many new recruits come and go; it was considered good if half of each batch returned alive after their second year.
Even though all twelve Mobile Fortresses had their own Defense Systems, it was inevitable to encounter attacks from Mutant Beasts during movements in Dark Space, as well as missions that required going outside the Fortresses.
Dark Space was filled with toxic air and high radiation environments. During missions, if a protective suit developed even a small crack and the Genetic Mech hadn't evolved to cover the entire body with purification abilities, the consequences could be dire. Even if one managed to return alive to the interior of the Fortress and immediately used an Advanced Healing Pod for treatment, most would still end up dying.
The Star Alliance Military had always concealed the harsh conditions of Dark Space from the citizens of the Main Plane, as well as the death rates of soldiers during rare energy collection processes. They did not publicly disclose this data and mostly reported to citizens that Dark Space contained high concentrations of rare energy.
