Rek drove the Hover Motorcycle quickly out of a long Metal Passage that opened from the back of the Second Zone warehouse at the Super Soldier Academy.
The strategic Hover Motorcycle flew out of the Super Soldier Academy, leaving the Defensive Shield of the Fortress, traveling through a grayish-white environment resembling a desert.
For the first time since his rebirth, Rek personally experienced the harsh conditions of the Dark Space. He looked up at the dark gray unknown energy barrier covering the sky and the endless expanse of grayish-white Sand.
In his heart, Rek felt that perhaps this Dark Space was truly a future Earth, a vision of Earth hundreds or thousands of years after a great war had led to its destruction.
Previously, in the War God System's Parallel Space, after Earth was destroyed by the Glorious Empire and the Star Alliance Ultimate Weapon, Rek had seen a mixed energy barrier forming in Earth's atmosphere, which resembled the energy barrier above in the current Dark Space.
Driving the Hover Motorcycle, Rek thought about how, in his Previous Life, during the later stages of fighting against the Alien Species, those Earth scientists discovered hypotheses that were likely true. The passage discovered in the Main Plane of Earth leading to the Dark Space was essentially a Time Tunnel, a route to Earth's future, with the Dark Space representing that future.
He couldn't help but think that in his Previous Life, he had arrived in the Dark Space as an ordinary physician, struggling among various fortresses of the Star Alliance during the Exotic Species War. At that time, he was completely restricted in his actions and had no means of self-protection.
Now, everything had changed. He had already acquired a Genetic Mech, upgraded to Corporal Level, and with that troublesome War God System in his mind, he believed that as long as he worked hard, this life would be better than his Previous Life.
“War God System, I want to use the Permanent Clone Technique skill to create a clone. Can you shield my presence from detection by the super soldier's fortress? I don't want the Star Alliance Military to discover that there are two of me for now. Although this could be explained as my awakened Ability, it would be more convenient for me to secretly obtain special energy if they don't notice my clone,” Rek asked the War God System in his mind.
“Host, rest assured. The detection devices of the Star Alliance Military in the Dark Space are not comprehensive. Even if their detectors are aimed at your location, the System can display only one instance of you and temporarily shield you from their detection.
However, if biological entities or humans conduct close-range scans or visual observations, it cannot be shielded,” replied the voice of the War God System in Rek's mind.
“Just blocking remote detection will suffice!” said Rek.
He found a large grayish-white sand dune and stopped his Hover Motorcycle, setting up a tent behind it.
As he crawled into the tent, he noted that this field tent developed by the Star Alliance specifically for use in the Dark Space was quite small, only accommodating two people. However, it featured an isolation filtering system capable of blocking toxic gases and radiation from the Dark Space.
“War God System, begin creating a clone. I want to use the Permanent Clone Technique skill,” Rek said to the War God System in his mind.
“Permanent Clone Technique: At the cost of consuming a large amount of energy, create a clone that is identical to the Host. The clone's basic stats will be eighty percent of the Host's current body stats.
The Host can allocate consciousness to control the clone or allow it to act independently. The clone possesses basic intelligence and obeys the commands of the Host.
The clone can train and strengthen itself, absorbing fifty percent of energy values, which will automatically transfer to the Host. If the clone dies, the Host's body and soul will suffer a certain percentage of damage, entering a weakened state for one month during which this skill cannot be used again. If the Host dies, the clone will disappear. Other uses for the clone will be unlocked after its upgrade.
Friendly reminder: Cherish your clone as if it were your child, and you will receive better rewards!
During the use of Permanent Clone Technique, there may be some discomfort; the Host needs to endure it. The System will control the Host's soul to maintain a conscious state,” said the cold voice of the War God System in Rek's mind.
Soon after, Rek felt intense pain throughout his body, as if his brain were being torn apart. His bones and muscles felt like they were being ripped apart; in fact, Rek's brain and body were truly being torn and split.
At first, it was like being conjoined; two heads appeared on his neck, and then below the neck began to separate, forming a two-headed figure.
The separation continued, and despite the soul-tearing pain, Rek couldn't faint.
After about an hour of enduring excruciating pain, Rek finally separated completely from the conjoined form.
Lying in the tent as if utterly exhausted, Rek thought, “No wonder they say giving birth is painful!” He looked ahead at his clone, which was identical to him and equipped with a Genetic Mech.
After lying on the ground for over ten minutes, Rek regained some spirit and stamina, attempting to control his clone.
His soul felt as if it could shift visually; he could control two bodies at once, possessing two perspectives—truly remarkable.
At first, Rek found it somewhat difficult to adapt. After about an hour of practice, he was finally able to control his clone freely and perform simple actions.
"Deactivate Genetic Mecha Armor Transformation." Rek controlled both his main body and the clone, both of which had released Genetic Mecha Armor Transformation. His soul was within the main body, watching the clone in front of him that looked exactly like him, except this clone was completely naked.
Rek looked at his naked clone and shared his outer shirt and pants with it, leaving himself dressed only in underwear.
"War God System, please equip this Wrist Communicator on the clone. I have a feeling that wearing this Wrist Communicator makes me feel like I'm being monitored by the Star Alliance Government. Can you remove this Wrist Communicator?" Rek tried to ask the War God System in his mind.
This time, the War God System was very accommodating. Without any conditions, it directly loosened the Wrist Communicator on the left wrist of the body bound to Rek.
Rek took the Wrist Communicator and placed it on the clone's left wrist.
Looking at his identical self felt both special and strange.
Rek tested it out; the clone possessed eighty percent of his main body's strength. Although it was weaker than him, it was still stronger than an average person.
His soul could only control the main body while allowing the clone to act freely, or he could control both simultaneously.
Rek tried raising his hand to touch the clone. The clone felt like a real person, a true version of himself. When his soul controlled the clone, he could feel the sensation of touching its body and share its perspective.
However, when his soul left the clone to let it act freely, he could no longer sense its vision or feelings.
Although touching himself felt nice, it was too strange for Rek, who quickly forced himself to stop his guilty hand.
