Rek controlled the body of Fat Supervisor and sat in the Hover Car heading to the Star Alliance research laboratory. Through the Wrist Communicator, Rek learned that Rein was on vacation, and it was almost time for him to return to the military district laboratory.
This Star Alliance laboratory was established within the Star Alliance area, and the Hover Car could only take Rek to the entrance of the military district. After checking Rek's Wrist Communicator and identity information, the soldiers at the gate allowed him to pass.
Rek began searching for a vehicle within the military district according to the information recorded in his Wrist Communicator, which took him to a gray-black metal building.
Upon entering this building, Rek found an Elevator. This Elevator did not go up but descended underground.
After taking the Elevator down to level -13, Rek exited and encountered a long glass corridor equipped with scanning facilities that checked the identity and DNA of individuals entering.
"Possessing a soul, this method of controlling people should not be detectable by the numerous inspection facilities in this laboratory," Rek thought nervously as he walked into the glass Metal Passage.
There were several laser shooting ports at the front of the corridor. Rek knew that if he failed security checks, the system would mercilessly activate the laser shooters, slicing his body apart.
Fortunately, as Rek reached the end of the corridor, no alarms sounded.
"Supervisor Rein, welcome back to the Star Alliance First Laboratory," a Synthetic Voice echoed in the corridor as a small door opened behind him, easing Rek's anxiety.
Entering through the small door, Rek walked along the corridor and encountered several researchers who greeted him warmly.
The body of Fat Supervisor named Rein, which Rek was controlling, held considerable power within the laboratory.
Through inquiries made via his Wrist Communicator, Rek discovered that although this fat man did not understand research, his authority allowed him to allocate some research funds and procure necessary materials.
His position was quite desirable for those researchers; they viewed Rek as a benefactor bringing them money and equipment, thus treating him with enthusiasm.
Rek first returned to his own Metal Office within the base.
Just after sitting down for a moment, a young woman in her twenties wearing a white Research Uniform, with glasses on, entered carrying a pile of documents to report to Rein.
"Director Lei, your vacation is over, and you arrived quite early! I have some recent research projects that need approval and equipment that needs to be procured. Please take a look." The female researcher gently said to Rek as she bent down to place a stack of electronic data pads on Rek's desk.
As the female researcher bent down, Rek could see her exceptional figure.
"It seems the old folks in this lab have gotten themselves a beautiful research secretary, leading them to indulge. Although the method is a bit lowbrow, I like it," Rek thought cheerfully as he took the data pad and began to feign interest in it.
After asking a few simple questions, Rek let the female secretary researcher leave.
Rek then connected to the internal information network of the laboratory to inquire about the research topics of the Star Alliance at the First Laboratory.
The First Laboratory primarily focuses on destructive power, with topics ranging from biological viruses to enhancing Genetic Mech weapons and performance, along with some peculiar research subjects.
The internal network of the laboratory included photos and introductions of the researchers.
Rek realized that it would be very easy to kill someone named Bill; destroying all his Research Records would also be effortless since Bill had not yet reached a level in the laboratory where he had his own research topic records. He only had a few hypothetical topics reported to him, and previous Rein had not submitted Bill's hypothetical topics for approval, which could be deleted at any time.
However, since Rek had finally come here and held power, it would be unreasonable not to take something with him.
"War God System, I'm a soul traverser. If I absorb energy now, will it be stored for me to upgrade my Genetic Mech when I complete my mission and return to my world?" Rek tried asking the War God System in his mind.
As expected, the War God System usually ignored questions but would respond immediately when it involved energy absorption.
"Host is currently a soul traverser and cannot absorb energy by himself. However, this Parallel Space truly exists. The System can assist the Host; after all, aiding in becoming a War God is the System's responsibility. After absorbing special energy, when the Host completes their mission and returns to their original timeline, it will be divided forty-sixty," the War God System clearly expressed its intention to partner with Rek in energy absorption.
"Look at these materials I can purchase and summon; tell me which ones contain special energy that you can absorb. Also, scan this laboratory and identify where there are energies worth absorbing for you. Provide me with a list," Rek instructed the War God System in his mind.
The efficiency of the War God System was very high. Within a few seconds, it provided Rek with a list of special energy-absorbing items, along with the corresponding energy values they contained.
In the following half month, Rek began to use his position as the laboratory supervisor to procure materials and allocate energy extensively.
As long as it was a request from the researchers, he approved it and even suggested adding some quantities, exaggerating the experimental effects to apply for procurement from the Star Alliance.
During this time, a large number of supplies were continuously delivered to the First Laboratory, delighting several senior professors in the research teams.
Rek also took this half month to become familiar with the researchers and brought Bill, a new researcher, to assist him as an errand boy.
Rek would chat with the frail Bill during their free time, discussing life.
With just one day left in a month, Rek knew that his time in this world was coming to an end. He had to quickly eliminate Bill and absorb the special energy within this underground laboratory.
Rek called Bill into his office alone and turned off the surveillance equipment.
“Bill, you mentioned before that you thought of a research topic involving causing earthquakes and volcanic eruptions by disrupting the underground crust. Have you discussed this with anyone else?” Rek asked.
“Director Lei, I haven't talked to anyone else about it. I came up with this idea after watching disaster movies recently; it's still in the theoretical stage. However, I feel that this topic has a high chance of success and could be particularly powerful.
So, Director Lei, are you planning to invest in me? I think the Glorious Empire might secretly be researching this Seismic Disruption Weapon. If we at the Star Alliance don't take action soon, we will fall behind in developing such weapons.”
