Rek spoke up, "This is our patrol mission for Special Class Two. As a member of Special Class Two, I must participate. My body has fully recovered, and it will not affect this patrol mission. Besides, with you, Master Muya, leading the team, I trust your abilities to ensure our safety whenever possible."
Hearing Rek's words, Master Muya was quite pleased.
Alice rolled her eyes at Rek's flattery.
Master Muya turned to Rek and Alice and continued, "Now I will explain the important points regarding the patrol mission.
We will be driving two Whirlwind II Hoverbikes. I will drive one, and Alice and Rek, you two will drive the other.
Rek, you have previously operated a military Hover Motorcycle during the principal's Punishment mission, so your driving skills should be adequate.
You will be the main driver of the Whirlwind II Hoverbike with Alice as the co-driver and lookout. Alice, you need to adjust your mental state today; looking like you just woke up is risky for patrolling in Dark Space.
Both of you listen carefully: Dark Space is much more dangerous than you might think. Although we have the high-speed Whirlwind II Hoverbikes for transportation, we must remain vigilant once we head out. A small oversight could mean we might not return; this is no joke."
"Don't worry, Master Muya," said Rek.
"We will follow your commands," Alice added.
After thinking for a moment, Maya continued, "This patrol mission is not about fighting Alien Species. Our main task is reconnaissance. If we encounter any unmarked Alien Horde on the radar map displayed by the Super Soldier Academy Fortress, we only need to record the coordinates and take some distant pictures of the Alien Species.
The Alien Species in Dark Space have some unique abilities that allow them to evade military radar scans. Our mission out of the Fortress is to scout the nearby areas based on the route that the Super Soldier Academy Fortress will take.
Remember, this is primarily reconnaissance; it does not involve engaging with any discovered Alien Species. If combat is necessary, it will be handled by the combat classes from the third and fourth years of the Super Soldier Academy."
Both Rek and Alice nodded in understanding.
Maya began adjusting the virtual display in the center of the classroom, projecting a Virtual Map. In the center of the map was a large blue circle slowly moving, representing the Super Soldier Academy Fortress.
In front of the moving fortress were many red dots of varying sizes. Each dot was accompanied by images and text describing what type of Alien Species it represented, along with threat levels and population counts.
"These red dots are the Alien Horde already detected by the fortress's radar."
While we patrol, we can simply avoid the already detected Alien Horde. The main focus is to check for any large-scale dangerous Alien Species that may have been missed by the radar," Maya said, pointing at the Virtual Map while addressing Rek and Alice.
Throughout the morning, Maya diligently explained to Alice and Rek the precautions for the Dark Space patrol mission and the potential encounters with Alien Species along the way.
Rek and Alice pretended to listen attentively, but they were actually analyzing the map and thinking of ways to shake off Maya during the patrol mission.
The lunch break bell rang.
Maya stood up and told Alice and Rek, "Today's lesson ends here. Make sure to rest well this afternoon. We will meet at eight o'clock tomorrow morning at the exit of the First District Training Ground.
We will be conducting an eight-hour patrol mission outside Fortress.
Alice, don't overthink it tonight. Get a good night's sleep."
"Got it, Master Muya," Alice replied.
"Mm!" Rek nodded in agreement.
Maya left the classroom, leaving Rek and Alice alone inside.
"How's your explosives coming along? Will you be ready by tomorrow morning?" Rek asked Alice.
"I'll finish it this afternoon; no problem. But have you figured out how to shake off Master Muya? She wants to join us on the patrol mission, and it won't be convenient to take her to Death Flower Sea," Alice said.
Rek pulled up the Virtual Map and pointed at it while saying to Alice, "I checked my memory of the entrance to Death Flower Sea; it's nearby.
Maya's planned patrol route will pass through this location, and the radar shows red dots indicating a Two-Headed Wolf Pack in Dark Space nearby.
The map indicates there are more than ten Two-Headed Wolves, an Alien Species.
I think Maya should be able to protect herself against more than ten Two-Headed Wolves. Their speed is quite fast; they can catch up with a Hover Motorcycle."
"What do you mean?" Alice began to understand Rek's idea.
"Exactly. I've thought it through. When I'm driving the Hover Motorcycle tomorrow and we get close to this area, you can say you want to try driving the Hover Motorcycle for practice. I'll hand over the main controls to you.
Just pretend you're not very skilled and accidentally turn in the direction of the Two-Headed Wolf Pack."
"Maya will definitely come over when she sees us with the Two-Headed Wolf Alien Species. At that time, we can leave her behind," Rek said to Alice.
"You're really something, making me take the blame. But it's fine. Are you sure Maya will hold off the Two-Headed Wolf for us? Can she really handle more than ten of them? That could get her killed!" Alice asked Rek with a hint of sarcasm.
"With Maya's personality and her role as a mentor, she will definitely intercept the attacks from the Two-Headed Wolf Alien Species. I've seen her swordsmanship; even if she can't kill those Two-Headed Wolves, she can protect herself for a while. We can assess the situation later and at worst, send a distress signal to Fortress before we leave. Given Fortress's speed in dispatching troops, reinforcements will arrive in just over an hour," Rek replied.
"Alright, let's do it this way. I'm going back to make explosives. Are you staying in your dorm tonight or going to your Moon Goddess's infirmary?" Alice asked Rek.
"I'll stay in the infirmary; I won't disturb you while you make explosives," Rek said.
Alice nodded and got up to leave the classroom.
Rek also left the classroom and headed toward the infirmary. It was just around noon, and Rek used his Wrist Communicator to contact Moon Goddess, informing her that he would be having lunch with her in the infirmary's internal cafeteria.
In Rek's opinion as a foodie, the food in the infirmary's cafeteria was far better than that in the Student Cafeteria of the academy.
