In the bedroom of the Overall Commander at Sanctuary Base, Aunt Xue was filling a wooden tub with hot water for Muku Tenmu to soak his feet.
"Tenmu, what do you think of the boy Xiaoya brought back?" Aunt Xue asked gently.
"I had my subordinates investigate his background in detail. Unfortunately, he barely qualifies as a promising new recruit with decent abilities. There is no sign of any family influence behind him," Muku Tenmu replied regretfully.
"Would you agree with Xiaoya then? From the look on her face today, she seems to have a good impression of this boy named Rek. Xiaoya is usually very aloof with others, and it's rare for her to have the courage to bring a man home to meet you, even if he is a bit young," Aunt Xue said, recalling how Rek had confronted Muku Tenmu earlier in the day, and she couldn't help but laugh.
"This new recruit Rek, if we were an ordinary family, as long as Xiaoya likes him, I would agree. If Rek truly is destined for Xiaoya and his actual strength surpasses what is shown in his file, then what if he joins our Mu Family? I still have a few decades left to support Rek and help him grow. "Alright, Tenmu, just give Rek and Maya a chance. At least let them try; even if it doesn't work out, Maya won't hold it against you too much in the future," Aunt Xue said.

The next day, Maya took the neatly dressed Rek to the cafeteria at Sanctuary Base for breakfast. Along the way, many commanders pointed and whispered about Rek.
"I heard this is the boyfriend that the young lady brought back from outside!"
"Look! Oh my, it turns out the young lady likes younger boys! No wonder I, who have watched her grow up since childhood, never had a chance."
"I heard this boy named Rek is also Maya's student!"

"Enthusiastic my foot! Hurry up and eat. After breakfast, we need to go to the training ground inside Sanctuary Base. Aunt Xue texted me this morning saying my father will set up a test there to choose my future husband," Maya said somewhat angrily.
"Your dad is going to give me a test? Your dad agreed to our marriage! I must have misread the situation yesterday; I didn't expect General Muku Tenmu to be so open-minded. Looks like I really am quite charming," Rek said in surprise after hearing this.
"Of course, it's surprising. You're not the only one participating in Dad's exam; he announced a month ago that he was looking for a husband for me.
Now, I heard from Aunt Xue that the internal training ground has gathered the twelve most outstanding unmarried members of the Star Alliance Military along with direct descendants from prominent families.
Dad is preparing to select my husband from these candidates.
Aunt Xue said she would make an exception and give you a chance because you are the one I brought back, allowing you to be the thirteenth participant in the selection process, giving you a spot as well," Maya said softly to Rek, feeling a bit shy.
"What! Choosing a husband? Maya, your dad really knows how to have fun.
I like it. Don't worry, I'll stand out. It's just twelve competitors; I can defeat them all and definitely become your fiancé, taking you away," Rek said with a grin.
Hearing Rek's words, Maya looked at him and stood still for a few seconds, thinking that if Rek really won, she wouldn't have to marry someone she didn't know, which would be a good outcome.
Maya spoke up, "Although the chances are slim, Rek, you should try hard. If you win, I'll pretend to be engaged to you; that way, I can delay things for a few years and have some peace. When we get to Super Soldier Academy Fortress, I'll help lighten your workload."
"What do you mean pretend? If I win, it will be a real engagement," Rek quickly retorted.
"I'm your teacher; what real engagement are you talking about? Forget it; just win first!
I don't even know what questions Dad will come up with; they should be challenging. Your chances are quite slim.
By the way, Rek, how's your ability in combat command?
My dad is the Overall Commander of Sanctuary Base, and at least one of the questions will involve testing combat command skills," Maya asked Rek with some concern.
"Combat command is my strong suit; don't worry about it. I've got everything covered," Rek confidently replied. However, he also planned to answer randomly during the test since he had never studied combat command.
In his previous life, Rek attended medical school and never went to military academy. He only gained experience through numerous wars against Alien Species later on. By the end of his previous life, when he was strong enough, he had led at most a few dozen soldiers.

Mission Failure Punishment: The War God is the strongest existence in the universe; those stronger than the War God are already dead. If Host fails the examination, for the glory of the War God, System will take control of Host's body and kill the other twelve candidates on the spot, ensuring that Host becomes first in the examination.
