Looking around at the seven corpses, three of which were headless and belonged to the Glorious Empire, and four without Hearts that belonged to the Star Alliance, Rek glanced at the young redhead standing beside him, who appeared to be around twenty-one or twenty-two years old.
This redhead was surprisingly capable; her methods were much more ruthless than his. However, facing the threat of death and pressure from superiors, Rek felt that although the redhead's plan was somewhat sinister, if executed successfully, it could lead to their survival.
"Alright, let's load the bodies back and transport them to the Patriot Ship. After that, we’ll detonate the ship. Then we can go kill this world’s version of ourselves," Rek nodded at the redhead, though he still maintained a degree of caution towards her.
The reason the redhead hadn’t killed him this time wasn’t just because he was also a captain; Rek knew it was because he possessed the Demon Blade, an Augmented Weapon fully integrated into himself, and he was in a state of Genetic Mecha Armor Transformation. The redhead didn’t have confidence in taking him down without getting hurt, which was why she shared this plan with him.
"Okay, we need to act quickly; we only have two days left," the redhead said to Rek. Seeing that Rek wasn’t the type to impulsively attack her like a hot-blooded youth, she felt relieved.
Rek and the redhead transported the bodies onto the Hover Tank, and the redhead carefully erased any bloodstains in the vicinity.
Soon, the Red-Haired Girl and Rek returned to the Patriot Ship, driving the Hover Tank directly into the ship's interior.
The redhead sat at the control panel of the Patriot Ship and began operating its System.
"Although my computing skills aren’t as strong as that hacker who died, I can still look up some basic information. The details about you and me in this world are not classified documents; I’ve already accessed them.
You have ten minutes to review this information before we leave the Patriot Ship. I’ve set up a self-destruct sequence for the Patriot Ship; it will activate in thirty minutes while engaging protective shields to muffle the explosion sound.
We’ve come this far; there’s no turning back now," she said to Rek, indicating for him to look at his basic information displayed on the Patriot.
Rek quickly glanced over it. This world’s version of him had also attended the Dark Space Super Soldier Academy, but he had gone there four years ago.
This world’s Rek had already achieved many military accomplishments in Dark Space and could be considered a hero specially cultivated by Star Alliance Military. There were numerous news articles about him in this world.
"It seems that not everything in this world is identical to ours, but it's quite similar. This world's version of me is impressive! At least according to records, his Genetic Mech level is over two levels higher than mine!" Rek exclaimed as he read through the information.
"This version of you in this world is merely a decoration placed at the forefront by the Star Alliance Military. Although it may be stronger than you, I feel that even if you do not appear, such overt heroes often become political sacrifices and do not live long. For instance, this time, the mission to die in space has chosen your original self from this world.
Rek still has a chance to kill your original self in this world.
After all, what we need to do is assassination; we just need to carry it out when he is unprepared.
Rek, for this assassination of your own self, we can only succeed. However, if you are discovered and fail, you will likely be imprisoned and tortured. I suggest you commit suicide immediately and do not reveal my existence," Redhead said formally to Rek.
"You too, Redhead. If you fail, do not mention my existence and try to commit suicide as quickly as possible. Never let this world's version of you see your face," Rek also advised Redhead.
"Yes, our communicator can still be used. After we have both completed our assassinations, we will contact each other again, and then we'll meet on the Patriot Ship. For now, do not contact the military in our world; those people will not agree to our plan. They only think about destroying this suddenly appearing Earth and reducing the chances of us operatives being discovered. They will not consider our lives.
If we survive and return, we will report this temporary mission decision once we are back on Earth," Redhead said to Rek.
Rek nodded.
Then Rek and Redhead took only two simple small thrusters and left the Patriot Ship.
They did not move the large heavy weapon Hover Tank but left it on the Patriot Ship to be destroyed along with it, preventing any future troubles from being discovered by the military in this world.
Since Rek and Redhead were in two different directions in this world, after Rek disembarked from the Patriot Ship, he activated his thruster and quickly flew away at low altitude, separating from Redhead.
That night, Rek arrived at a city. According to previous information he had checked, this world's Rek would temporarily stay at a military guesthouse in this city tonight.
Tomorrow, this world's Rek would head to the launch base of the Patriot Ship.
Rek knew that he only had tonight's opportunity to kill his counterpart in this world.
Looking at the military guesthouse before him, he was relieved that it was not during a major war against the Glorious Empire; there were hardly any strict guards at the guesthouse since no one would expect someone would dare to assassinate the current Officer there.
However, Rek also knew that with his current appearance, he could not enter directly.
Rek left and bought a set of clean work clothes and tools. After putting on the tools, Rek entered through the small door of the guesthouse.
Only one security guard asked Rek what he was doing. Rek replied, "A customer reported that the room's drainage is blocked, so I'm here to fix it."
The security guard didn't pay much attention to Rek and let him pass.
Rek went up to the third floor and found the room where he would be staying in this world tonight.
Then, seeing that no one was around, Rek quickly took out the small tools he had prepared earlier, unlocked the door, and entered the room.
Rek saw that it was a nicely decorated one-bedroom apartment. If nothing changed tonight, this world's Rek would be staying here.
Rek changed out of the clean work clothes and tools, tossing them under the big bed.
"This world's self must also be very alert. Assassinating him, a general of the Star Alliance who has been fighting in Dark Space for years, is not easy. I estimate that even if he were asleep, he would notice someone getting this close," Rek began to think.
"Let's consider myself. If I were to assassinate him, when would I be most relaxed and let my guard down?"
Looking at the current situation, this world's Rek probably hadn't done anything special; it didn't seem like there was a War God System present.
It would be best if he didn't have a War God System; otherwise, with his already superior strength combined with all the items provided by the War God System, it would be too difficult for me to kill this world's counterpart," Rek thought to himself.
