"Is there a woman you like in this world? Don't lie to me, tell me who your favorite woman is," Rek asked.
"I prioritize my career and have long sworn that I won't consider personal feelings until I become a general!" This world's Rek said somewhat shyly.
"Don't deceive yourself. I am another version of you, from a parallel world.
It’s useless to lie to me. In my world, I liked my mentor Maya from the Super Soldier Academy! But that relationship had no conclusion.
I advise you to give up quickly. Do you know why you were chosen for the Patriot Ship mission this time? Why were you sent to detonate the meteor?
It has something to do with your feelings for Maya," Rek began weaving a story that was partly true and partly false.
Rek had previously investigated, and this world's Rek had entered the Dark Space Super Soldier Academy four years ago, with Maya as his mentor. They had been together for over four years, and it was hard to believe that there were no feelings involved.
"Alright, I admit it, I like Maya, but how does this Patriot mission relate to her?
What do you want to warn me about?
What did you do wrong in your world that left you with lifelong regrets? Why are you advising me to give up on Maya? Why don't she and I have a future?" This world's Rek asked anxiously after hearing his reflection mention Maya.
The Rek emerging from the mirror saw his counterpart's anxious expression and spoke up: "You may not be clear about Maya's background. Maya's father is Muku Tenmu, one of the three generals of the Star Alliance Military, overseeing all military forces of the Dark Space Star Alliance.
The Sanctuary Base in Dark Space is where Maya's father is stationed.
You say you're just an ordinary soldier without any background; what do you think will happen if you pursue a general's daughter? The reason you were selected for this Patriot Ship mission is also because of Muku Tenmu's influence behind the scenes.
This mission to detonate a meteor has a high mortality rate. If Maya's father wants you dead but doesn't want to act directly, he arranges this mission for you instead.
Otherwise, how could someone like you, a frontline soldier from Dark Space, be assigned such a task? Don't you find that strange?"
In this world, Rek heard the words spoken by himself as he crawled out of the mirror, pondering over them. He had sensed something was off when he accepted this mission, but he never imagined it was due to problems at home with his mentor, Maya.
"What should I do? If I continue to be with Maya, what will happen to my future? What tragedies await me? What mistakes will I make in the future? Since you know all this, tell me what mistakes I will make! No, I like Maya; I want to be with her. Do you have any solutions?" The Rek of this world felt a bit mentally disturbed by the sudden stimulation.
Suddenly, the Rek who crawled out of the mirror screamed, catching the attention of this world's Rek.
"Not good! The other dark world version of you, Dark Reck, is coming through the spatial trajectory! He’s about to discover me! And he’ll soon find you too.
Get ready for battle. No, you can't defeat him; I can't defeat him either!" The Rek from the mirror continued rambling and changed the subject.
"The dark world version of Rek is coming? Do we need to fight?" This world's Rek was already confused by the other version of himself that crawled out of the mirror.
At that moment, he noticed the bathroom door opening, and another version of himself walked out. This version seemed to blend into the surroundings so well that one might not notice it if they weren't paying close attention.
This was the true form of Rek, a clone released from the Tower of Desire by the Rek who possessed the War God System. It had been hiding in the bathroom and was now preparing to scare this world's Rek.
"Ah! Another me! That's already three of us!" This world's Rek, looking at his clone that emerged from the bathroom, confirmed that it was indeed his own body, and he felt a tremor within himself.
"Cause and effect from past lives lead to results in this life; karma cycles; everything in this world is predetermined," recited the Rek from the bathroom.
In a daze, it felt as if light was emanating from the head of this Rek who had come out of the bathroom.
"This is Dark Reck. Why does he feel like a radiant ancient Buddha? The one who crawled out of the mirror looks more like a ghost or darkness!" This world's Rek thought as he observed the scene.
Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his back as a razor-sharp Demon Blade pierced through him.
The new world's Rek quickly moved, trying to follow the trajectory of the blade's swing to avoid a fatal hit. Fortunately, years of combat experience on the battlefield allowed his body to instinctively react and evade.
After dodging, he moved his body forward.
This world's Rek turned around and saw his other self from the mirror grinning wickedly at him.
"You were just lying to me! You are the dark side of me! Things like Maya and the mistakes I made before were all deceptions. The true light behind me is another version of myself, and the real threat to me is you!" The Rek of this world said angrily to himself as he crawled out of the mirror, ready to fight desperately.
The Rek's True Form that crawled out of the mirror looked at the severely injured Rek of this New Earth with satisfaction and said, "Most of what I told you before was true. Your mission to space is likely related to Maya's father, but that no longer matters! Let me tell you something important!"
At that moment, the Rek who came out of the bathroom quickly pulled a sharp fruit knife from his pocket and plunged it directly into the back of this world's Rek's heart.
This world's Rek did not expect that two identical versions of himself had come to kill him.
"You!" This world's Rek turned around unwillingly, looking at the version of himself that had just emerged from the bathroom.
The version from the bathroom had already activated the Genetic Mech's devouring ability, and this world's Rek felt his life force rapidly dissipating.
"Rest in peace, Rek. I don't want to kill myself, but if I don't kill you, I have no better way to return." The original Rek said.
Soon, the clone controlled its ability to devour and ended this world's version of himself, leaving only some skull fragments behind.
After absorbing the energy from this world's Rek, the clone split half of the absorbed energy and gave it to the original Rek.
"It really matches what the War God System said; I only killed one version of myself from this world and received energy equivalent to what would be gained from devouring hundreds or thousands of Alien Species.
It turns out that killing another version of oneself is the fastest way to upgrade and increase power. Unfortunately, I still can't freely traverse Parallel Space," Rek sighed.
