"This rock is surprisingly hard, the center is several times harder than the surface.
Even if there are any Alien Species in this mine, they won't be able to come out now. Once the holes are drilled through, it will take at least an hour, so we can be on guard then. Just relax for now, don't be so tense; the mission has just begun, and you shouldn't exhaust all your energy," Master Muya said to the students.
"Okay," Rek nodded, not explaining to Maya, but still tightly gripping the Demon Blade in his hand.
Seeing Rek like this, Maya knew that saying anything would be useless, so she decided to ignore him.
The drilling work continued as Alice operated the Drilling Machine, digging constantly.
After more than an hour, Alice shouted, "Great! I've finally broken through!"
"Expand the opening a bit more; prepare to install the Metal Elevator," Maya said as she began to drive the Metal Elevator.
Rek felt danger approaching closer and tried to take a look inside, but it was dark below the Underground Vein, and he couldn't see anything clearly.
"Rek, you guard the drilled opening.
Alice, go to the driver's seat of the transport vehicle and bring back some Light Sticks to throw into the opening," Maya instructed while securing the Elevator.
"Got it, Master Muya," Alice replied and ran off to carry out her task.
A few minutes later, high-intensity durable Light Sticks were thrown into the Underground Vein, illuminating the dark space as bright as day.
The three of them looked into the opening.
"This Underground Vein isn't straight; there are also curved natural caves. Alright Alice, no more throwing Light Sticks; the brightness is sufficient. Save a few for when we prepare to enter the Underground Vein," Master Muya said after securing the Elevator.
"Okay," Alice responded and walked over to the side of the Elevator, stepping onto the circular metal platform.
"Rek, keep watch above. If any Alien Species suddenly appear nearby, contact us immediately. I will transmit any information captured from below in the Underground Vein to you," Maya said as she also stepped onto the circular platform.
Maya turned to Alice and said, "Take out your weapon and prepare to enter the Underground Vein. Remember what I taught you in class yesterday afternoon."
"Alice, it's just like our usual training, so don't be nervous."
Alice smiled brightly, showing no signs of tension, only excitement. Seeing Alice like this, Maya knew her worries were unfounded; the little girl had an unexpectedly strong mindset.
Rek stood guard in front of the Metal Elevator. Maya held a longsword in her right hand while pressing a small control button for the Elevator with her left thumb. The Elevator began to descend, and the metal cable extended.
Maya and Alice stood closely together on the circular metal platform. A few minutes later, they had already descended deep into the Underground Vein's cavern.
"Everything is normal, Alice. Use the exploration device you brought and place it on the rock wall. The detector will analyze the concentration of this vein shortly. Then we can see if there are any hidden Alien Species inside," Maya instructed Alice.
Rek watched from above as the two descended over twenty meters without discovering any Alien Species. The underground mine was very quiet, with not even a hint of extra noise.
"Am I just overthinking this? It shouldn't be; there must be Alien Species here. That previous probe robot wouldn't have malfunctioned for no reason," Rek thought to himself as he observed the shared video feed from Maya.
"Master Muya, we've reached the bottom, but there's another cave here that extends horizontally. Guess what I see? There are actually murals on the walls of this horizontally extending cave!" Alice exclaimed, pointing in surprise at her location.
Maya cautiously leaned in to take a look and indeed found paintings on the wall made with unknown pigments.
"Be careful and watch your surroundings; there may be special Alien Species present here," Maya warned.
The elevator had reached its destination, and now they needed to walk through the horizontal cave without further assistance from the Metal Elevator. Alice and Maya stepped off the metal circular platform of the Elevator.
Maya examined the murals on the wall and shared her visual perspective with Rek.
Rek also looked at these wall paintings, which totaled four in number.
In the first painting, a group of people sat around a long table, most appearing relaxed as they discussed something.
"This painting is so poorly done; I can't even tell what it's trying to express," Alice remarked.
"That's fine; let's take pictures of these paintings. When we return to Super Soldier Academy Fortress, there will be dedicated researchers to analyze their meanings," Maya replied.
However, Rek already understood what this first painting was trying to convey based on its content.
The painting depicted a scene from Rek's mission during Parallel Space when high-ranking officials from the Star Alliance Military and Glorious Empire signed a peace treaty at a long table.
Soon, Alice went to see the second painting. In the second painting, there was a round sphere emitting black smoke, with numerous gaps and flying missiles. The color tone was much darker than that of the first painting.
Rek knew that this second painting depicted the scene of the Star Alliance and the Glorious Empire launching the Ultimate Weapon to destroy Earth.
Alice and Maya continued deeper into the horizontal cave and saw the third painting.
In the third painting, there were many Alien Species and skeletons, as well as corpses, but it was drawn in a very abstract manner. Rek estimated that this should represent the death and mutation of life on Earth after being destroyed by the Ultimate Weapon.
The fourth painting, which was also the last one, had been completely smeared over, making its content unrecognizable.
"What strange paintings; even the Alien Species seem to have the mood to paint," Alice thought to herself.
"Be careful!" Maya suddenly shouted, raising her longsword and swiftly striking down. A headless Alien Species with only two legs was cut in half.
However, this Alien Species did not die. With half of its head severed, it continued to hop towards Alice and Maya on its two legs, its half head carrying a mouth wide open, ready to bite at Alice and Maya.
"I'll smash you to pieces; let's see if you can still split and ambush me," Alice said angrily. With one long sword and one short sword in hand, she quickly danced them around. In just a few seconds, she turned this splitting Alien Species into minced meat.
Alice watched and waited for a few seconds, noticing that this Alien Species did not regenerate again, just as she was about to relax.
"Not good; we are surrounded," Maya said with some surprise, her tone growing heavy as she tightened her grip on her longsword.
