"You should really store it away!" the Moon Goddess said without a second thought.
Rek looked at the Moon Goddess's determined expression and knew she was serious.
Rek could only hold onto his Combat Suit and walked over to the metal storage box. He scanned his injured Identity Watch and opened an empty metal box, crumpling the damaged Combat Suit and stuffing it inside.
"That's right, let's go buy me a nice, expensive outfit," the Moon Goddess said with a smile, pulling Rek into a high-end boutique on Pedestrian Street.
"This store isn't good; let's try another one!" Rek glanced at the price of the clothes on the plastic mannequin in the window, seeing several zeros. He couldn't even count them all at a glance.
"Let's go in and take a look; even if it's not good, we should at least check it out," the Moon Goddess said, her eyes pleading as she looked at Rek.
Rek had no choice but to follow the Moon Goddess into the most expensive boutique selling clothes in Academy Fortress.
The shop assistant was a part-time Senior Sister.
This store rarely had students come in due to the high prices of the clothes; sometimes, they wouldn't see a single customer for a week.
When this Senior Sister saw Rek and the Moon Goddess enter like a young couple, she glanced at Rek's freshman uniform and thought that today might be different. If they sold some clothes, her part-time earnings would increase, allowing her to buy a bunch of cosmetics she liked.
"Good morning to you both! What kind of clothes are you looking for? Let me introduce some options," the Senior Sister said enthusiastically, looking at Rek and the Moon Goddess with as much eagerness as if they were gold coins, her face beaming with sweetness!
The Moon Goddess was about to speak, but Rek jumped in first: "We're just browsing for now!"
However, the Moon Goddess was having none of it. She assertively stated, "I want to see the most expensive and beautiful clothes. I need a complete set that I can wear."
Upon hearing this, the Senior Sister felt hopeful.
Rek knew he couldn't stop the Moon Goddess's impulse to shop.
"I'll pick out a few sets for you to choose from. With your looks and figure, wearing our clothes will definitely attract a lot of attention from guys," the Senior Sister said with a smile as she hurriedly began selecting outfits suitable for the Moon Goddess's height and body type.
Before long, this Senior Sister had chosen three different styles of clothing—dresses, pants, shoes, and more—for the Moon Goddess.
"It all looks good, but I wonder how I would actually look in these clothes and which set would look better on me.
The stingy person over there only promised to buy me one set," Moon Goddess said, glancing at Rek beside her.
"We have fitting rooms here; you can try them on. Once you've tried them on, just buy the one you like the most," Senior Sister pointed to a small partition behind the glass mirror in the clothing store.
"Oh, there's a fitting room! That's great. Rek, wait for me here. I'll show you after I change, and you can help me choose," Moon Goddess said as she rushed into the fitting room with three outfits, closing the glass door behind her.
After Moon Goddess closed the door, Rek quietly asked Senior Sister, "Can I ask you something? Please don't mention it to that girl who just tried on clothes."
"Feel free to ask, what do you want to know?" Senior Sister replied with a smile.
Senior Sister understood that this was someone who would be paying soon, which meant potential commissions and cosmetics for her. She was very friendly towards Rek now.
"Of those three outfits, which one is the cheapest? How much is the cheapest one?" Rek asked, bracing himself.
"Ah! The blue and white tracksuit and sneakers are the cheapest; the price is XXX," Senior Sister understood and quietly told Rek the answer.
"What? A tracksuit and shoes cost that much? It's even more expensive than a high-end Combat Suit! Are you guys robbing people?" Rek exclaimed in surprise upon hearing the price.
He had never bought anything from this store before, let alone such expensive clothes for a girl.
For a seemingly ordinary tracksuit and shoes to be pricier than a high-end Combat Suit completely shattered Rek's perception of clothing prices for girls, making it hard for him to accept.
In Rek's mind, he would rather spend that money on buying Moon Goddess a good Combat Suit than on clothes that looked nice but were not very useful in battles against Alien Species.
"Our clothing store is one of the branches of the top clothing stores in the Star Alliance. Each outfit is unique.
Every piece of clothing is designed by specialized high-end designers; both the design and materials are top-notch, so it's normal for them to be expensive.
Moreover, these clothes meet the minimum defense standards for combat.
They are much stronger than regular clothes. Wearing something from our store may not match the defensive strength of combat protective gear, but it can stand up to a bulletproof vest worn by regular police in the Main World. When you think about it that way, this price is actually quite reasonable," Senior Sister explained enthusiastically to Rek.
"Excuse me, can you swipe a virtual bank card from the Main World for overdraft here?" Rek asked. He currently had less money than what was needed to buy a pair of sports shoes.
"Overdraft is possible with a card, but it requires your student reputation level at the Super Soldier Academy. This reputation is related to the academy tasks you have completed. You're only a freshman, so I estimate..." Senior Sister did not finish her sentence.
Rek understood; the overdraft amount should be calculated based on the completion status and difficulty of the tasks assigned by the academy.
This clothing store in the Academy Fortress had set up such an overdraft method, likely to encourage students to work harder when completing tasks outside the Fortress.
"Wait a moment. If Moon Goddess really picks something, don't rush to pack it. Try my card first.
If it doesn't work, then my reputation level at the Super Soldier Academy Fortress isn't enough, and there's nothing I can do. I'll just have to take Moon Goddess to another cheaper place later." Rek knew he had already lost some face, so he decided to be straightforward with this Senior Sister.
Seeing a customer speak so plainly for the first time, Senior Sister stared at Rek for a few seconds before recovering.
"Got it! I'll pray that the money in your Identity Watch is sufficient," Senior Sister said with a smile. After all, she was working part-time and wouldn't earn any commission.
This month, she would just have to buy fewer cosmetics, she thought, and she wouldn't get angry with Rek over such matters.
The fitting room door opened, and Moon Goddess, wearing a low-cut black evening gown and crystal shoes, stepped out. With her long silver hair, she looked like a magical fairy.
Senior Sister stepped forward and said, "Junior sister, you really have good taste! You were the first to try this outfit. This dress was made by the famous designer Pinnacle from the Main World. Our designer named it the Temptation of the Dark Elf Evening Dress."
