Then Victorious Monkey, Alice, and Rek began to leap among the massive Blue Blood Cells, continuously using each Blue Blood Cell to jump downward.
It was hard to tell how many times they jumped down; in any case, the three of them had been jumping for several hours before finally seeing the Ground.
It was a flat Blood-Red Ground, soft and yielding. When they stepped on it, their ankles sank right in; it was no longer the blue Blue Blood Cells.
"Come here, hurry up!" A mysterious woman's voice echoed in the space.
Rek recognized this voice; it was the same woman who had spoken the Four-Digit Coordinates curse in the Dark Spatial Channel leading from the Main Plane of Earth. She must be the Red-Haired Aunt.
"Let's follow the direction of the voice!" Rek suggested.
"Sure, since we don't have any maps or anything, it's good to have a voice guiding us. In this cursed space, it doesn't matter which way we go," Alice replied.
Then Rek, Alice, and Victorious Monkey headed toward the source of the voice.
However, as they walked, the red Ground began to soften even more.
"Ah!" Alice exclaimed as she noticed a Crimson arm reaching up from beneath the red Ground, grabbing her calf and trying to pull her down.
Alice quickly used her twin blades to sever the Crimson arm. After being cut off, the arm held onto Alice's calf for a few seconds before releasing its grip. It then bounced a few times on the Blood-Red Ground before merging back into it.
This sudden occurrence put Rek and the others on high alert.
Soon, Rek discovered that numerous Crimson arms began to appear beneath him and around him, as if they had entered a graveyard where arms were continuously sprouting from the Ground.
These arms were still writhing, trying to grasp anything nearby.
Rek started swinging his Demon Blade, slashing at the arms on the ground, while Alice and Victorious Monkey also struck at the arms emerging from the Ground with their respective weapons.
However, these arms could not be killed; after being severed, they would remerge into the Ground within a few seconds and grow back again.
Rek looked at the endless expanse of Crimson arms on the Ground and continued to swing his Demon Blade, pushing forward as much as he could.
"Let's keep moving! This Crimson area must have an end. We should try to push forward, but watch your feet," Rek shouted as he ran.
Alice and Victorious Monkey kept attacking the arms on the Ground with their weapons, following Rek's lead.
"Let Victorious Monkey take the lead, Alice you stay in the middle, and I'll cover the rear.
Victorious Monkey's Metal Pipe has great striking power and can sweep away a large number of Crimson arms at once, which will increase our speed and safety," Rek said after leading for a while before changing their formation.
The three of them ran through the ocean of Crimson arms for about four or five hours but still had not found a way out; ahead was nothing but an unending sea of Crimson arms.
"We need to stop; running like this isn't a solution. We probably need to eliminate these arms first before we can get out," Alice called out, signaling Victorious Monkey to halt.
"How do we plan to eliminate such a vast number of Crimson arms?" Rek asked.
"Can your Genetic Mech fly for a short time?" Alice asked Rek.
"Not yet. Even if I force it to stay in the air, it can only hover for a few seconds," Rek replied.
"Then I'll take you flying. Victorious Monkey will ascend on its own, and then I'll try throwing some high explosives and incendiary bombs to see if we can eliminate those arms," Alice said. As she spoke, two massive dark green wings sprouted from the back of her Genetic Mech.
Alice soared into the air and flew above Rek.
"Grab my legs," Alice instructed.
Rek reached out and grasped Alice's calves, surprised that Alice had even evolved her Genetic Mech to have flight capabilities.
Rek knew that his own Genetic Mech would need to level up several times before it could grow wings for flight. Since Alice's strength was likely not too different from his, it seemed she had consumed some special Energy Stones to catalyze her Genetic Mech's flight function ahead of time, sacrificing some of its original evolutionary direction.
Before long, Rek was lifted into the air by Alice, and Victorious Monkey also took off directly.
At over fifty meters above the ground, Alice began to pull one Metal Sphere after another from her waist and throw them down towards the ground.
Rek watched as these Metal Spheres hit the ground, producing a booming explosion that sent crimson waves flying up, as if the ground were rolling with flesh.
Even from fifty meters high, Rek could not see the end of the sea of red arms below.
Alice continued to throw bombs; each time she emptied the Metal Spheres hanging from her waist, she would simply press a Green Button at her waist, and her bomb pouch would instantly refill with new Metal Spheres.
Rek knew that this was a tool similar to a spatial ring owned by Alice, which could store the bombs Alice had previously made, allowing her to take them out directly when needed.
Alice continuously flew through the air with Rek, seemingly unlimited in the number of bombs she had, throwing them incessantly at the Blood-Red Ground.
In the air, Rek saw that wherever they flew over the Ground, blood splattered up, and the Blood-Red Ground was boiling and churning.
After throwing bombs for about half an hour, Alice finally stopped, and Rek noticed something different.
"Right below us, after I throw a bomb here, the splattering blood is much less than elsewhere. This location beneath us must be different. Let me throw some enhanced bombs and see," Alice said as she took out several large Metal Spheres from her pocket and tossed them all down at once.
The sound of explosions echoed across the Ground, and Rek saw that this time the bomb created a Pit in the ground.
Moreover, this Pit did not quickly recover. A Crimson Eye appeared beneath the Pit. Once exposed, the eye tried to move away, continuing to burrow into the surrounding Crimson underground.
In the air, the Victorious Monkey, which had been hovering and following Alice, saw this eye and quickly extended the Metal Pipe in its hand. The massive Metal Pipe plunged into the Ground, directly piercing through the pupil of the Crimson Eye.
The Metal Pipe penetrated the eyeball, causing Crimson liquid to splatter everywhere. The eye struggled a few times but could not escape the penetrating strike of the Victorious Monkey Metal Pipe.
Moments later, the Crimson Eye exploded, red smoke dispersing in all directions. As the eye perished, the Blood-Red Ground began to dissipate rapidly, and those arms also disappeared along with it.
Alice and Rek landed back on the Ground. Rek looked at the corpse of the eyeball creature, not recognizing what kind of being it was.
"Alright, you've been grabbing my calf for so long that it's gone numb.
Stop looking; there are too many monsters we don't recognize. Victorious Monkey has already killed it, so we can move on," Alice said.
"Look over there, there's a corpse still wearing a Star Alliance uniform," Rek pointed ahead.
Alice walked over to take a look at the body. The dried face was still somewhat recognizable; it resembled an Advanced Genetically Enhanced Mech Warrior that had come from Sanctuary Base, but it wasn't the Liquid Robot controlled by Hua Tuo.
"This corpse must have been buried beneath the Blood-Red Ground for a while. Its body is all shriveled up; it seems most of its cellular energy was absorbed by this Crimson Eye.
The deceased commander among the five sent by the Star Alliance likely had some special Ability that allowed him to sacrifice himself to help others escape," Alice remarked as she examined the body.
"Let's go. Now one of the five sent by the Star Alliance Military, a Senior Researcher, plus this commander, is dead, leaving only three.
Hopefully, when we catch up, we can still find some survivors," Rek said.
"Let's hope so," Alice replied softly as they continued to navigate through this mysterious space.
After the red-armed Crimson Eye disappeared into the ground, a black cave appeared ahead—a massive cave in the Stone Mountain. Surrounding the cave were various relief sculptures depicting expressions of different creatures, vividly carved.
"These sculptures must have been living beings at one point. Look at that sculpture; doesn't it resemble another commander from the Star Alliance Military who came here?" Alice pointed to a sculpture at the top of the cave depicting a human in a Star Alliance Military Uniform, with a crying and laughing expression, and said to Rek.
"It seems another one has died. Among the five sent by the Star Alliance Military, only the Liquid Robot and Redhead are left.
There is something wrong with this cave, but there is only this one path. If we don't enter, there will be no other way out," Rek said.
"We have to go in. Let's go! The Liquid Robot and Redhead haven't turned into statues, so we should be able to make it through," Alice replied.
Rek nodded and walked into the entrance of the large cave with Alice.
As they entered the cave, the surrounding environment immediately changed to fresh air.
Rek realized that he and Alice had returned to Main World Earth. The sky in this space was particularly blue, with a big sun shining down, a gentle breeze blowing, and the air was very clear.
Rek saw that he and Alice were standing under a large tree in a courtyard. Not far away, there was a low building and a group of children playing.
Rek felt a sense of familiarity with this environment and turned to look at Alice, who was gazing around with a nostalgic expression.
Rek recalled why this environment seemed so familiar.
This place was the Sunshine Orphanage in Dawn City on the Main Plane of Earth. The first time he met Alice was under the big tree in this orphanage, and later that night, he took the War God System from Alice in the small grove outside the orphanage.
"Alice, stay alert. We are currently in the Ancient Temporal Sanctuary Ruins; don't be deceived by the scenery around us," Rek reminded Alice.
"I know, but it looks just too much like it."
"No, this should be real. The Time-Space Sanctuary should have the ability to control time and space. This is probably another parallel world’s Sunshine Orphanage," Alice said.
At that moment, Rek heard someone calling his name not far away.
"Rek, you’re volunteering today, so make sure to play with this little girl, Alice. She usually daydreams and doesn’t talk much, so she has very few friends," an old woman in an orphanage uniform approached Rek and said.
Rek remembered this old woman; it seemed she had received a donation from him in the past.
"You can see us, you know us!" Rek exclaimed.
"Of course I know you. Are you still groggy from your nap? You've been at our orphanage for two days now. Kids like you who are willing to volunteer and have a kind heart are rare," the old woman replied. "By the way, Rek, aren’t you in your senior year? The college entrance exam is coming up in a few days. Shouldn’t you be getting ready for that?"
"College entrance exam?" Rek sighed.
"Yes, if you want to volunteer at the orphanage, you can come back after your exams when summer vacation starts. Just don’t let this delay your studies; the college entrance exam is crucial for your future," the old woman advised Rek.
Rek nodded slightly.
"I want to go with Rek to take the college entrance exam and accompany him during the tests. I’ll stay with him for a few days and promise not to cause any trouble, Grandma," Alice said, her big watery eyes looking up at the old woman.
"That's nonsense. You're just a little girl. What do you think you're doing going with Rek? Besides, Rek is preparing for the college entrance exam, not going out to play. It would be very inconvenient to take you along," the old woman said.
"It's fine. I'm taking Alice out for a few days. After the exams, I'll take her around to have some fun. I feel like Alice is just like my little sister; we get along really well," Rek responded.
The old woman hesitated for a moment, then looked at Rek. After thinking for a few minutes, she finally nodded in agreement to Alice's request.
"Alright, Rek, you can take Alice out to play for a few days. Alice, you must follow your brother Rek and behave on the way. Otherwise, no one will take you out to play again. If you encounter any danger, remember to contact me using the Wrist Communicator," the old woman said to Alice.
"Okay," Alice nodded.
"Rek, Alice is still young. You can only take her out to play; the regulations of the Star Alliance are very strict," the old woman said to Rek before leaving.
"Let's go, Alice. Are you coming with me directly, or do you need to pack some things? I don't even know if you have anything that belongs to you in this orphanage," Rek said with a wry smile as he watched the old woman walk away.
"Perfect timing! You can come back to my room and grab some things, then we'll leave together. Just remember, in this world, never show that you're different.
Don't let anyone see that you don't belong here. I think I've discovered something related to a legend I've heard before," Alice said as she pulled Rek into the orphanage building.
Alice walked through the building with familiarity, turning a few corners before leading Rek into a small room with pink walls. She tried to open the wardrobe and found several pieces of clothing she had worn before.
Alice then crawled under the bed and pulled out a small box from the corner beneath it, placing it inside her bag.
