Rek stood one meter away from Alice in this world, and they locked eyes for a few seconds.
"How can you return the Greeting Card to me?" Alice of this world asked Rek coldly, clearly unwilling to accept the situation.
"You know what I want, right?" Rek said to Alice of this world.
"You want to leave this world. You want to get out. But if I tell you how, I will also face Punishment from the Time-Space Sanctuary," Alice hesitated before speaking to Rek.
"I've thought of a way. Since I entered this world at the Sunshine Orphanage, I should be able to exit from there as well.
I came in under the big tree in the orphanage.
So, my exit point should also be nearby. You have two choices now: help me leave this world, or I will slaughter everyone in the orphanage and destroy the buildings here.
I think that might cause some minor disturbances in the spatial nodes, which could allow me to leave this world," Rek said coldly to Alice.
"No!" Alice of this world shouted angrily at Rek.
"You have no other choice. You know that with your combat ability, if I activate my slaughter mode, you won't be able to stop me; it would be a miracle if you could protect yourself.
You can also choose to help me leave. Although that would mean facing Punishment from the Time-Space Sanctuary, I believe you will weigh your options: whether to suffer Punishment yourself or let everyone in the orphanage die. Think about it," Rek said ruthlessly.
Upon hearing Rek's words, Alice of this world fell into deep thought. After a few minutes, she finally made a decision.
"Fine, Rek, I'll tell you how to leave.
You're right; your entry point was under that big tree at the Sunshine Orphanage. That tree is where the spatial node is unstable. If you burn down that tree, there will be a brief disturbance in the spatial node.
If you're lucky enough to seize that opportunity, you can leave this world," Alice said to Rek.
"Great, let's go burn down that tree together. I'll gather supplies for fuel, and you can handle lighting it on fire," Rek replied.
"Hmph, Rek, I've realized you're just a bad guy. I really don't understand why the other me in that world would become your companion," this world's Alice said angrily to Rek.
Rek chuckled in response, "The Alice from my world isn't a good person either, and she knows much more than you do. The experiences of my Alice are far richer than yours.
"Enough about that. I'm going to the city to buy fuel. I'll be back in an hour or two. During this time, you'd better not cause any trouble or do anything foolish.
"Even if you manage to get everyone from the orphanage to leave, I can still find and kill them one by one," Rek added.
"Just go already; I really don't want to see you again. Don't worry, since I've already told you that burning the big tree is your way out, I won't interfere," this world's Alice said angrily.
After hearing this, Rek turned and left Alice's room.
Rek quickly walked out of the orphanage and took a Hover Car to a small shop in the city to buy some flammable fuel.
With the fuel in hand, Rek soon returned to Sunshine Orphanage. He was worried that if he took too long, this world's Alice might change her mind.
Upon returning to Sunshine Orphanage, he saw Alice leaning against the big tree, while some children were playing in the yard.
Carrying two small fuel containers, Rek approached the big tree and immediately poured the fuel over it. He then handed a Flame Thrower to Alice for igniting.
Curious children gathered around to watch Rek's actions.
The commotion had already caught the attention of several staff members at the orphanage.
"Rek, Alice, what are you doing?" an old woman's voice called out from a distance.
"Hurry up; if we delay, they'll all die," Rek urged this world's Alice.
This world's Alice glanced back at the children in the yard with reluctance but then turned her head again, her gaze becoming resolute.
Quickly igniting the flamethrower in her hand, Alice aimed the flame nozzle at the fuel on the big tree.
With the aid of the combustible fuel, the large tree quickly caught fire.
As the tree burned, the surrounding children gasped in surprise, some even crying out in fear.
A few staff members, seeing that Alice and Rek had actually set the tree ablaze and were causing a fire in the orphanage, rushed over in shock.
"Children, get away! Leave here and don't look back! Alice, Rek, what have you done?"
"Put out the fire!"
"Help!" The courtyard of the orphanage became chaotic as the tree continued to burn.
Rek noticed that Alice's face began to turn pale, her skin becoming ashen like that of a corpse.
Rek estimated that this world's Alice was starting to suffer from the Punishment of the Time-Space Sanctuary.
"Give me back the Greeting Card," this world's Alice said to Rek with a trembling voice.
Rek threw the box containing the Greeting Card to Alice from his pocket.
Alice clutched the metal box with trembling hands, flipping through the Greeting Card inside, tears streaming down her face as she looked at it.
She then knelt on the ground, holding onto the Greeting Card, unable to stand any longer. With a thud, Alice fell over and closed her eyes.
Rek couldn't tell if this world's Alice was dead or had sustained serious internal injuries.
However, he no longer had the attention to focus on this world's Alice. As the tree burned, Rek felt unstable points appearing in the surrounding space.
A ripple appeared beside the Ancient Tree, causing the space to overlap like water waves.
Then a crack appeared.
Rek knew the opportunity had come, and he could only take the risk once.
Rek activated his Genetic Mech and immediately rushed into the spatial rift. Inside the rift, Rek's body disappeared within the Sunshine Orphanage. Rek also lost consciousness.
When Rek woke up again, he found himself sitting in a cave, a large blue cave.
Beside him was Alice, who was wearing a Genetic Mech. Alice seemed to have gone through a fight, with some wounds on her body.
"You've come out too. You look like you weren't hurt at all. What kind of world did this cave send you to? Is it safe? How did you leave?" Alice asked Rek.
Looking at Alice in front of him, Rek then tried to connect with the War God System in his mind and found that it had already responded. Rek knew he had left that false or parallel world.
"You wouldn't want to know where I went. I'm not going to tell you about it," Rek said after thinking for a moment. He wasn't prepared to tell Alice that he had killed her once in that world and threatened that world's Alice to obtain a way to leave.
"Fine, if you don't want to say, then don't," Alice said disdainfully as she glanced at Rek.
"Let's go. I see some white light ahead in this Blue Cave. That should be the exit; let's get out!" Rek said to Alice beside him.
After hearing this, Alice shook her head and pointed to something beside them that was wrapped in Blue Liquid, resembling a Giant Cocoon. She said to Rek: "We've both left that world, but the Victorious Monkey hasn't come out yet. Although the Victorious Monkey has strong combat power, he must have gone through a lot before.
This legendary Victorious Monkey should be a creature from our previous era; he is still trapped in this cave's created or transmitted world.
I estimate that although this cave cannot kill the Victorious Monkey, it likely exploited some great regrets or flaws he had before, sending him back to his own era, trapping him in a world belonging to him."
Hearing Alice's words, Rek walked up to the blue cocoon and indeed saw the outline of a large monkey inside.
"Don't look anymore. Before you came out, you were also wrapped in the blue cocoon, but after you came out, it disappeared," Alice said.
"What should we do? From your expression, it seems you won't abandon the Victorious Monkey, but what can we do to wake this monkey up?" Rek asked Alice.
"There is a method, but it's a bit dangerous. I didn't act before because I was waiting for you or the Victorious Monkey, to see who would wake up first before preparing to take action," Alice replied to Rek.
"What do you have in mind? Let's hear it," Rek asked Alice.
Alice took out two wooden sticks, each about the size of a fist, from her pocket.
"This wood comes from a rare species called a connected plant. It allows a person to briefly connect their thoughts with others who are asleep.
Victorious Monkey is currently in this state, as if he is asleep. His soul has likely entered that space, which even mimics his physical abilities, similar to our previous situation.
If we insert these two sticks into Victorious Monkey's body, we can also enter the world created by the cave.
In that world, we need to find a way to awaken Victorious Monkey and ultimately locate an exit.
However, since Victorious Monkey is a legendary creature from the previous era, his world is likely very dangerous. The creatures inside will probably be quite powerful. We must be cautious once we enter," Alice said to Rek.
"Alright, let's give it a try. It would be a shame to leave this monkey behind; losing this combat power is too regrettable. I also want to see the world of the previous era," Rek replied as he took the sticks from Alice.
Rek and Alice then stood before the blue cocoon enveloping Victorious Monkey.
Alice activated Genetic Mecha Armor Transformation, wielding a short sword to cut a small opening in the blue cocoon. She then trimmed the dried ends of the sticks and firmly inserted one end into Victorious Monkey's body.
Rek followed Alice's lead, took out his Demon Blade, prepared the stick, and after cutting a small opening in the blue cocoon, inserted his stick as well.
Suddenly, Rek felt darkness engulf him, as if his soul was being pulled out of his body. He experienced a strong sensation of tearing.
When Rek opened his eyes again, he found himself and Alice standing in a hellish world.
In the distance, a monkey was guarding an entrance while numerous monsters charged toward it. These monsters had black-green skin and used their arms as weapons; some wielded scythes while others had sharp stiletto-like appendages.
Victorious Monkey stood at the entrance, swinging a golden club and continuously striking at these monsters to prevent them from entering beyond the cave entrance.
Rek noticed that behind Victorious Monkey was an opening that resembled a spatial rift, likely connecting to another space. Victorious Monkey was presumably guarding this rift to stop the monsters from coming through.
Although the strength of the Monster Horde was formidable, the Victorious Monkey was currently in its prime. With a golden metal pipe in hand, it swung down repeatedly, knocking row after row of monsters away.
This large monkey seemed to possess endless power, continuously wielding the Metal Pipe without showing any signs of fatigue. It appeared as if striking these monsters was as easy as scratching an itch.
"We should go call the Victorious Monkey," Alice said to Rek as she observed the situation and prepared to approach.
"Wait, we are currently in Genetic Mech, which is also dark green. That monkey is in battle right now. If we rush over, we will likely be mistaken for monsters from this world and get hit by that monkey's big Metal Pipe," Rek cautioned Alice.
"Look at how the Victorious Monkey swings that Metal Pipe. It's a massive golden Metal Pipe. Do you think you can withstand a few hits?" Rek stopped Alice and said.
Alice watched the fierce appearance of the Victorious Monkey. Knowing it was at its peak, she realized that if she went up against it, she would probably be flattened within seconds.
"What should we do?"
"Do you still have any bombs? Did you bring them?" Rek asked Alice.
"I can't use them. Upon entering this world, I only brought my body and the weapons contained within it. All my bombs were left isolated in another space," Alice replied with some difficulty.
"Let's wait a bit longer. We should find a more concealed spot nearby to stay hidden. Since this monkey is guarding here, there shouldn't be only these relatively weaker creatures trying to escape this world. Once stronger intruders appear and engage with the Victorious Monkey, we can look for an opportunity," Rek suggested, pulling Alice into a pit under a large rock nearby to hide.
The Genetic Mech had excellent camouflage capabilities, and the two were far enough from both the Victorious Monkey and the battling Monster Horde that they had not been discovered by either.
