Victorious Monkey was shocked upon hearing Purple-Clad Girl's words; the peace between the temple and Holy Church that had lasted for thousands of years was about to be shattered. Just as he had feared, Holy Church would first find an excuse to attack the temple's personnel, leading to a great war between the two sides, resulting in countless casualties.
Victorious Monkey dared not think further and turned to glance at Rek and Alice.
"War God, you should return to your residence for now. There are some things you need to think through before making a decision," Rek said to Victorious Monkey.
Upon hearing Rek's words, Victorious Monkey nodded.
"War God, the temple needs your strength. You are the War God who emerged from the temple. Although you ultimately joined Holy Church, the temple is still your foundation," Purple-Clad Girl said reluctantly to Victorious Monkey.
There was no doubt about Victorious Monkey's power; with his involvement, the high-level combat strength could increase by at least threefold, making him a formidable figure capable of turning the tide of battle decisively.
"I will return to War God Temple. Rest assured, even if a war between the temple and Holy Church truly occurs, I will not assist Holy Church," Victorious Monkey assured Purple-Clad Girl before turning to leave.
Hearing this from Victorious Monkey, Purple-Clad Girl felt relieved.
With a stern expression, Victorious Monkey led Rek and Alice into a building located at the highest point of the aerial hall, where the entrance was ominously marked with War God Temple.
Entering the temple with Rek and Alice, they found it spotless and devoid of any outsiders.
Inside the grand hall of War God Temple, Victorious Monkey took a seat in the center while Rek and Alice comfortably sat beside him.
"The temple and Holy Church are about to go to war. Although there are many personnel in the temple, the high-level combat strength of Holy Church is formidable. Even if the temple ultimately wins, it will suffer heavy casualties," Victorious Monkey said with an angry expression.
"Monkey, why are you still fixated on this? The war is about to begin, and its outcome has little to do with you now.
You should have some clarity in your heart; you have experienced this world already. In your Previous Life, you were severely injured for this war and had to retreat for recovery.
But what was the final outcome? Your era was still destroyed, and it took you many years to recover. Until Alice found you, your strength was far inferior to what it is now.
You have already paid your dues; you owe nothing more to this world. Whether this world is real or illusory, you should find a way to leave with us and return to your rightful time and space," Rek said loudly to Victorious Monkey.
"Alice" also spoke up, saying, "Yes, Victorious Monkey, when I first met you, your spirits were very low. You said that you had completed your mission and that from now on, you wanted to do what you wished without being bound by anything."
Victorious Monkey listened to their words, feeling very confused inside.
"I already feel that I have experienced this world, but so what? This time, I want to save the temple once more. If the temple goes into this great battle without my involvement, even if we win, there won't be many left.
Whether this world is real or illusory, I choose to fight once again. After all, I have come to this world to fulfill my mission here.
As for afterward, if I survive this great battle, I will join you in finding a way to leave this world.
Or perhaps I already sense the way out of this world. At the highest point of the temple, there is a passage leading to the mortal world called the Execution Platform. No gods or creatures dare to descend there; it has been sealed as a forbidden place. All beings passing through that passage will be struck by heavenly lightning.
However, upon my return this time, I vaguely feel that something has changed within the Execution Platform; the destination it leads to is no longer the mortal world but another time and space—our own time and space.
You two can leave first. I can use my magic to envelop you in a protective shield. With your own strength, you should be able to survive passing through the Execution Platform and return to your world.
As for me, if I am still alive after this battle ends, I will jump down the Execution Platform to find you." Victorious Monkey said.
"Don't! Victorious Monkey, if you stay behind to participate in the battle between the temple and the Holy Church, the best outcome would be that the temple wins but you end up severely injured and have to go into seclusion. At that point, who knows how long it will take? I don't know how time is calculated between this world and ours, but I'm afraid that when you come out of seclusion after thousands of years, the Execution Platform will have disappeared." Rek said.
Victorious Monkey remained silent.
Seeing that this was not a solution, Alice added, "If you don't leave with us, then Rek and I have come here in vain."
"I have made up my mind. Even if you are truly my future comrades and companions, I will not choose to leave when the temple is in trouble. I am not a war god who runs away." Victorious Monkey declared.
Rek smiled wryly, feeling that Victorious Monkey was quite suitable to be the Host of the War God System.
"Alright then, monkey. Since you've chosen to stay behind, Alice and I will also stay to help you fight this battle. Although Alice's strength is not as great as yours, I've just observed things at the temple and found that our strength is considered above average among your temple." Rek said.
Victorious Monkey nodded: "It's good that you've chosen to stay. However, once the battle begins, I cannot guarantee your safety. There are many powerful beings in the Holy Church who are stronger than you. If you get injured during the battle, don't blame me."
"Alright, Victorious Monkey. We chose to stay ourselves; we won't blame you." Alice replied.
"Alright, Monkey, find us a place to stay and have someone bring us some food. Alice and I will rest for now, and call us when the big battle is about to start," Rek said to Victorious Monkey.
Victorious Monkey nodded.
After that, Victorious Monkey didn't say anything else. Soon, a maid dressed in white appeared in the War God Temple, bowed to Rek and Alice, and gestured for them to follow her.
Rek and Alice followed the maid out of the main hall of the War God Temple and into a spacious courtyard behind it. The maid arranged a residence for Rek and Alice that resembled a traditional courtyard house and brought them some delicious-looking fruits and drinks.
"The War God Temple doesn't have meat, so you two can only eat some celestial fruits today. If you only eat meat, I can go ask for some from other halls," the maid said to Rek and Alice.
"That's fine; fruit will do. These celestial fruits look quite tasty," Rek replied.
In the world where Rek and Alice resided, meat was readily available, while fruits were quite rare and considered a delicacy.
"Please enjoy your meal. If you need anything, just knock on the wooden hammer at the door," the maid said, pointing to a wooden hammer at the entrance before turning to leave.
Rek and Alice sat on a stone chair in the courtyard, enjoying the delicious fruits. The celestial fruits were indeed very tasty.
"Rek, since Victorious Monkey doesn't want to return with us immediately, do you have any plans regarding this battle between the Holy Church and the temple? With our strength, even if we join in, it probably won't make much of a difference. Even someone as strong as Victorious Monkey might end up severely injured and retreating in seclusion after this battle. If we join in, it might not change the outcome at all, and it would be hard for us to survive," Alice asked Rek.
"I know. In this battle, facing the enemy head-on, we probably won't contribute much. Even if Victorious Monkey gets lucky, he will still end up severely injured," Rek said.
"So I'm planning to create chaos during this battle. Only if the situation becomes more chaotic or if another powerful force emerges will the temple and Holy Church hesitate to engage in battle. Even if they do fight, they won't hold back," Rek continued.
"But where will you find a third-party force? The two strongest forces in this world are likely the temple and the Holy Church; otherwise, they wouldn't be fighting each other," Alice replied.
"Don't forget about where we first appeared—the entrance to the Asura Realm. You've seen those monsters inside; their overall combat ability is quite decent.
Right now, Victorious Monkey has only left a clone guarding that entrance and set up a barrier.
I think there might be an issue with that barrier now; Victorious Monkey probably isn't too concerned about it anymore.
Once we finish these fruits, we'll leave this aerial palace immediately. Alice, you remember the way? Take me out; we'll head straight to the entrance leading to the Asura World. We should be able to use Genetic Mech's devouring ability to eliminate the energy barrier left by Victorious Monkey."
Then we entered the Asura World, helping those Asura monsters to kill the Victorious Monkey's Monkey Hair. If luck is on our side, we might not even need to take action afterward, Rek said.
Alice, excited by Rek's words, nodded. "That's right, this plan is worth a try," she replied.
The two quickly finished the fruit on the table.
Then Alice took Rek by the shoulders and flew up.
Since Rek and Alice were brought into the temple by the Victorious Monkey, the guards only sent someone to report to the War God and did not stop Rek and Alice from leaving.
The Victorious Monkey thought that Rek and Alice were about to start their evasion for the upcoming battle, so there was no reaction, signaling the messenger not to worry about them.
Flying in the air, Rek was surprised to find that Alice didn’t know the way. She relied on him for constant guidance to fly in the right direction.
After flying for several hours, they finally reached the barrier left by the Victorious Monkey. The fact that Alice was directionally challenged frustrated Rek a bit. Of course, he didn’t dare to say anything while in the air; otherwise, if he annoyed Alice, she might throw him down.
Alice landed safely and let Rek down.
Rek and Alice activated the devouring ability of their Genetic Mech and began absorbing the barrier left by the Victorious Monkey.
After more than ten minutes, the energy of the barrier started to fade.
"Alice, can you create a fake barrier like this? Or something like an isolation field? It would be best if we could make the barrier disappear without being detected by the Victorious Monkey; delaying it for a few days would be enough," Rek asked Alice.
"I can do that. I can deploy my Genetic Mech in its armed form. However, that means I won't have any combat power. My Genetic Mech has a built-in isolation program that can block energy transmission around it. If this barrier disappears, what gets transmitted to the Victorious Monkey should also be some kind of energy frequency," Alice replied.
"Alright, you use your Genetic Mech to isolate this barrier. For the next few days, we probably won't need to take action. Once a certain number of Asura appear, both the temple and Holy Church will know. You can retract your Genetic Mech then; I'll protect your safety during this time," Rek said.
Alice nodded after hearing this. She then activated her forced mech armed state, transforming her dark green Genetic Mech into an independent armored form. This humanoid armor then dispersed and enveloped the surroundings.
Controlling her second form of independent Genetic Mech, Alice made her Genetic Mech vanish into thin air.
"Okay, I've blocked energy fluctuations within a ten-meter radius. I should be able to isolate this area for about five days; after that, my Genetic Mech will return to me. You should absorb the remaining energy from the barrier left by the Victorious Monkey quickly. Hopefully, in five days' time, we can attract more powerful monsters from the Asura Realm," Alice said to Rek.
Rek nodded and immediately activated his Genetic Mech, absorbing all the barrier energy left by the Victorious Monkey.
"Alice, you stay back for now. Without your Genetic Mech, it's not safe for you to enter the Asura Realm. I'll go into the Asura Realm and take out the Victorious Monkey's Monkey Hair clone, then I'll come back and take you away," Rek said, and Alice nodded in response.
Rek jumped into the Spatial Channel and instantly entered the Asura World. Once again in this hellish world, Rek felt that it was not much stronger than their current Dark Space.
Not far ahead, he saw the Monkey Hair clone of the Victorious Monkey wielding a large Metal Pipe, striking at a group of monsters from the Asura Realm.
These monsters were not too strong, and Monkey Hair was able to handle them without sustaining any injuries.
When Rek appeared, the clone created by Monkey Hair merely turned its head to glance at him without attacking. It understood that Rek had been with its original form before and was likely a friend rather than an enemy.
Rek approached, holding his Demon Blade as if to assist Monkey Hair in fighting off the Asura Realm monsters.
However, as Rek leaped beside Monkey Hair, he swung the Demon Blade directly at the clone's neck.
With the sharpness of the Demon Blade and Rek's swift movements, his decapitation technique was elusive. The Monkey Hair clone had no defenses up and its head was swiftly severed.
The clone's body then split into two halves of hair that fell to the ground. Witnessing this sudden change, the Asura Realm monsters preparing to attack were astonished as they looked at Rek. They had fought for many years without being able to defeat the powerful war god, only to see him killed by this outsider wielding a Demon Blade, leaving behind two severed strands of hair.
