"You are awake." A voice as pure and transparent as water gently echoed in Hibiscus's ear. The dry desert seemed to steam with moisture due to her presence, creating a hazy, enchanting atmosphere under the sunlight.
Hibiscus opened his heavy eyes and met a pair of sea-blue eyes that resembled morning mist by the shore, hazy and indistinct. Dressed in blue, with snow-white skin and delicate features, her seaweed-like hair flowed down to her ankles. In the desert wind, her long blue hair was breathtakingly beautiful, as if she were a mirage.
Hibiscus merely opened his eyes but couldn't speak. His face was pale, and his voice was hoarse; even uttering a single word felt laborious.
"Are you very thirsty?" The Blue-Clad Woman cupped her delicate hands in front of her chest, concerned as she looked at Hibiscus. He appeared to be in dire condition, as if he might stop breathing at any moment.
All his strength had drained away, and now even breathing felt extremely difficult. He feared that this might just be an illusion, and when he awoke again, he would not know where his soul had gone.
Seeing him silent, the Blue-Clad Woman couldn't help but pout her rosy cheeks and furrow her brows slightly.
Hibiscus noticed the woman's tearful expression and felt confused. However, his body was already weakened to the extreme; he could only gaze vacantly at the sky, the yellow sand, and the person before him.
The Water Consort closed her eyes, biting her lip, looking pitiful and on the verge of tears. Was she about to cry for this stranger's plight? She sighed softly and then opened her misty eyes, as if tears were truly shimmering within them. The Water Consort held her rosy cheeks with a look of helplessness.
"I'm sorry; I can't cry."
What was she saying? Hibiscus's unfocused gaze was about to lose its clarity. Everything around him had fallen silent; all he could think of was that year under the peach blossoms, that serene and beautiful woman.
"It has to be this way." The Water Consort looked at the man whose vitality was gradually fading with an apologetic expression. "Since he left, I haven't had any tears to cry; otherwise, I would have brought you rain to save you."
The Water Consort smiled faintly. "Saving someone is a happy thing." She murmured incantations as a flash of blue light passed by. Her delicate fingers were cut, and blue blood dripped onto the scorching yellow sand.
Gritting her teeth, she pressed out the blood from her fingers and fed it into Hibiscus's cracked lips.
"Hoo hoo." Seeing that things were looking better and that he probably wouldn't die now, the Water Consort raised her swollen fingers to her lips and blew on them. "It hurts; hoo hoo."
After a flash of blue light, there were no longer any scars on her delicate fingers. "It still hurts a little," the Water Consort murmured.
Resting her chin on her hand, she gazed at the evening glow and Hibiscus, as if discovering something interesting. The blue light in her eyes flickered as she looked inside Hibiscus.
"Mysterious Crystal?" Such a cold object within a person's body is quite dangerous. She wondered how it was cultivated. Never mind, a trade is a trade. Water Consort opened the space before her; it was her storage space. With wide eyes, she rummaged inside for a moment before finding a dusty pearl.
"Ugh! It's already covered in dust." Pouting, she blew on it a few times. "Sigh, this broken pearl really loves to gather dust; it can't be wiped clean."
This item is called Water-Repelling Pearl, aptly named for its ability to repel water, allowing one to move freely in water. Water Consort was not afraid of water, so after obtaining this pearl, she had never used it, resulting in its accumulation of dust. Besides repelling water, the pearl had another rather useless characteristic: it attracted dust. Once covered in dust, it could never regain its luster.
"I'll trade you this." Water Consort somewhat hesitantly placed the Water-Repelling Pearl into Hibiscus's palm and then extracted the Mysterious Crystal from within him.
The Mysterious Crystal was formed from the profound cold energy generated by Hibiscus's long-term cultivation of divine skills on Xuanbing. In a mortal's body, it could be extremely harmful to both body and mind; however, in the eyes of immortals, it was indeed a rare treasure that could protect one's spirit during cultivation and stabilize one's mindset.
Water Consort had always been a half-hearted Dragon Maiden; aside from her innate affinity for water, she had no other notable skills. Thus, the Mysterious Crystal was a significant boost for her.
"This pearl may not look good, but it's quite useful for you mortals." Water Consort's watery eyes sparkled as she looked at the Mysterious Crystal before her; its translucent appearance was truly beautiful, causing her to smile with delight.
"Poor mortal, I'm leaving." After absorbing the Mysterious Crystal into her body, Water Consort curled her delicate fingers slightly, moved her lips and teeth, and after a gentle breeze passed by, she vanished without a trace.
Blue light swirled around Hibiscus. Although Water Consort's magical skills were not refined, she was still a female demon, and her bloodline was beyond that of ordinary people. As the blue light swirled, the cracked skin on Hibiscus slowly began to heal, and his vacant gaze regained its vitality.
It felt like a dream from South Dream of Nanke; Hibiscus's only impression of the one who saved him was those blue pupils.
Could there really be such a woman in this world? Who is she?
Fengyin and Jinse were walking while admiring the scenery of Yingyue Villa. They found the surroundings quite marvelous; the scenery changed constantly and mysteriously, with some elusive places housing unheard-of bizarre objects that seemed alive yet as still as wooden chickens.
Just then, Ying Wuxie and Seven Nights arrived together.
"Dad." Jinse called out to Ying Wuxie while her eyes were fixed on the silver strand entwined around his fingertip that resembled hair.
Not only was Jinse puzzled, but Seven Nights also wore an icy expression at that moment.
Noticing the gazes from Seven Nights and Jinse, Fengyin had no choice but to look away. The more she tried to explain, the worse it became, leaving her feeling quite helpless. She couldn't understand why the Moonlit Young Master would create such misunderstandings.
A hint of sadness flashed in Jinse's eyes as she affectionately leaned against Ying Wuxie. "Father, we've been staying here for quite some time. When will you return home with me?"
"There's no rush. Isn't Yin'er still looking for her master?" Ying Wuxie replied.
Jinse couldn't help but glance deeply at Fengyin, while Seven Nights furrowed his brows in silence.
Yin'er? It sounded so familiar.
Jinse felt displeased. She had shared her heart with Fengyin for a long time and had never heard her mention a word about it. Putting aside her feelings for Ying Wuxie, who was her biological father, there was also her mother whom she had watched over for half her life. Now, Ying Wuxie was entwining his fingers in Fengyin's hair, calling her Yin'er repeatedly.
How could this friendship continue?
Fengyin lowered her head; Jinse's father was truly a troublemaker.
With just one glance, he captured a woman's heart and toyed with his daughter's feelings in the palm of his hand. He must be dissatisfied that his charm was ineffective on her and thus acted so ambiguously, leading to suspicion.
Jinse was her only friend.
"Daughter, let me accompany you for a walk," Ying Wuxie said casually, looking at Fengyin with a smile that was not quite a smile.
