A few days ago, Augus and Xinran's passionate kiss downstairs at her apartment became a hot topic of conversation. People walking down the street were discussing whether they had seen that romantic kiss or how beautiful their love seemed. A mix of envy and jealousy swirled in the hearts of Augus's fans.
However, thanks to Augus's boldness, the paparazzi finally left Xinran alone. The few persistent paparazzi who remained had also departed from her building two days ago, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief. After resting at home for a few days, her ankle had completely healed, so Xinran was in a great mood. "Xinran, Chen Dao called yesterday and said he hopes you can reconsider and not quit your role in Diamond Absolute Love. He believes you are absolutely the most suitable actress for that character, and if someone else takes it, he would feel regret!" Jerry squeezed onto the sofa beside Xinran.
"Please thank the director for his kindness on my behalf. I’ve said I won’t act anymore, and I mean it! You know I’m not someone who goes back on my word. Once I’ve made a decision, right or wrong, I won’t change my mind. Besides, the entertainment industry is so vast; finding another actress won't be that hard. I truly don’t believe this film can’t go on without me!" Xinran said casually while fiddling with the remote control.
"Alright, although I always thought that your sudden rumors with that person have been resolved by Augus, and now there’s nothing stopping you from filming this project. But if you insist on quitting, as your manager, I will respect your decision. I’ll call Chen Dao again!" Jerry sighed lightly and slowly stood up.
"Jerry, I'm sorry. Am I being a hassle and making things difficult for you?" Suddenly, Xinran put down the remote control and hugged Jerry around the waist, murmuring.
"Silly girl, what kind of relationship do we have? You think you're a hassle to me?" Jerry looked at Xinran with a mix of amusement and affection as he gently stroked her hair.
"But I really feel ungrateful for getting such a rare opportunity to act in Chen Dao's new drama while easily throwing it away..." Xinran continued to hold onto Jerry. "But I truly don’t want to have anything to do with him anymore. One Augus is already enough; dealing with another would drive me crazy!"
Listening to Xinran's troubled murmurs, Jerry understood well that what was making her uneasy was likely that man she had been rumored to be involved with at the hospital! Who was that man? Xinran didn’t say anything, and the paparazzi had surprisingly failed to report any valuable information about him. From this, he could roughly guess that this man's identity must be extraordinary—either wealthy or powerful.
"I understand. Actually, Xinran, you don’t need to worry too much. Although you're not yet at a stage where you can pick and choose roles freely, you do have the opportunity to make choices now, don’t you? If you're unhappy about it, we can drop it. I'm just worried if you go back to filming that you might get hurt again by Gujialan."
"Haha, it's fine now. Actually, Gujialan is just being resentful. I've heard she once pursued Augus but was rejected decisively by him; that's why she's so angry with me! Considering she's somewhat of a senior in the industry and the man she once liked 'chose' her junior—someone like me who's not even top-tier—she naturally feels disgruntled! Xinran lifted her head and looked deeply into Jerry's eyes as she spoke resolutely.
"Let’s hope so!" Jerry shrugged helplessly.
