No matter how beautiful a dream may be, one must eventually wake up. For Xinran, everything from last night felt like a fantastical romantic dream. She and Dong Shan Zhong were embracing each other under the moonlight, and that feeling seemed to be something she had long sought after. She thought she would never forget the surprises and affection he had given her throughout her life.
Back in reality, her phone had been off for two days. As soon as she turned it on, messages from Jerry and Wujie flooded in. If she didn’t show up soon, Jerry might actually call the police.
"My lady, you finally returned my call! I thought you were missing or had been kidnapped! What would I do if something happened to you?" As soon as the call connected, Jerry's complaints began before Xinran could even speak.
"Jerry, I'm fine. I’m neither missing nor kidnapped; I just sneaked away for a vacation. See? I'm calling you now!" Xinran chuckled lightly to reassure him.
"You’re enjoying yourself while I’ve been worried sick! Wujie was so anxious she cried, saying it was her fault for losing you. If she had taken you home that day, you wouldn’t have gotten into any trouble!"
"Alright, Jerry, please make sure to comfort Wujie for me. I'm heading back now, so don’t worry..."
After hanging up, Xinran noticed that Dong Shan Zhong had come downstairs at some point and was sitting on the sofa beside her. He must have just taken a shower; droplets of water still clung to his hair, and his bathrobe was slightly open, revealing his bronzed chest, which looked quite enticing. Xinran turned her head slightly; if she looked any longer, she might lose control and pounce on him, which would be too embarrassing!
"Are you awake? Can we leave now?" Xinran asked as she approached Dong Shan Zhong.
He pulled her into his arms and said, "First, let’s have breakfast together, then I’ll take you somewhere."
"Are we going somewhere else? But..." Xinran hesitated; her sudden disappearance had already thrown Jerry into chaos. She felt bad about going back on her word again.
"Is your manager worried? Don’t worry; I will definitely take you back today. Although I really don’t want to, it shouldn’t take too long to go there."
"Then can you at least give me a hint about where we are going?" Xinran leaned closer to Dong Shan Zhong's face and asked softly.
"Once you arrive, you'll understand!"
After having breakfast, Dong Shan Zhong drove Xinran away from the villa. This was Xinran's first time being driven by him; usually, it was the chauffeur who drove while they sat in the back. She watched as he skillfully turned the steering wheel, his driving posture elegant and noble, as if he were a prince stepping into the human world, yet paradoxically exuding an air of arrogance.
"What's wrong? Am I so unfamiliar that you're staring?" Dong Shan Zhong turned his face toward Xinran and asked with a smile during a red light.
"I am indeed mesmerized, but it's your perfection that has me captivated!" Xinran replied honestly.
"Haha, are you complimenting me?" Dong Shan Zhong moved one hand from the steering wheel to grasp Xinran's delicate hand resting on her lap, bringing it to his lips for a kiss.
"There's no need for you to fish for compliments; it's simply the truth!" She felt a bit shy and tried to pull her hand away, but he had no intention of letting go.
"However, I would prefer it if this were you complimenting me! We're here!" He turned the steering wheel sharply, maneuvering the car into a parking space before turning off the engine and getting out to open the door for Xinran.
"What is this place?" Xinran looked at the building that resembled a leisure club with curiosity.
"This is a leisure club owned by a friend of mine. I brought you here to meet someone," Dong Shan Zhong said as he took Xinran's hand and walked toward the entrance. Xinran noticed that he didn't even need to show a gold card; the doorman naturally bowed to him at a ninety-degree angle, as if his identity was the best gold card, representing authority and everything else.
"Who is it?"
Dong Shan Zhong did not respond but led Xinran into the elevator, taking it directly to the twelfth floor. They walked through the corridor and stopped in front of a door.
Xinran pushed open the door in confusion but froze when she saw the person inside!
