"How did you end up here?" Xinran opened the car door, stepped out, and looked at Augus across the vehicle.
"Summer, why do you ask? If I hadn't happened to come looking for you, how would I have seen you in such a compromising situation?" Augus had a mischievous smile in his eyes, but his tone feigned accusation, as if he had been grievously betrayed.
"Augus, is this amusing to you? Do you want to throw a tantrum or make a scene? I can call the Paparazzi for you!" Xinran shot him a weary glance, then bent down to speak to Dong Shan Zhong inside the car. "You should head back now; we'll get in touch later, okay?"
"Alright!" Dong Shan Zhong nodded and started the car to leave.
"Wait a moment! Give me a few minutes; I have something to say to you." Augus maintained his smile and gently patted the shoulder of the older brother inside the car.
He had only taken a few days off to shoot an advertisement, and Xinran had already fallen for his brother's charm. He knew that few women could resist it, but he thought Summer was different. Even if she couldn't resist entirely, she would at least hold out for a while!
It seemed this game was nearing its end. Once he and Xinran broke up, his brother would soon follow suit, and she would become just another woman caught in their rivalry. Although it was he who initially pursued her, he felt reluctant to let her go through that if it came to it!
Alright then, let Augus be soft-hearted this once! As long as she didn't initiate the breakup, he would keep holding onto the position of Summer's boyfriend. That way, his brother wouldn't be able to end things with her. However, seeing how attached she seemed to his brother, it was likely that his good intentions would be in vain...
"I'm all ears!" Dong Shan Zhong stepped out of the car and stood face-to-face with Augus.
Xinran watched the two men with some helplessness. She didn't know what Augus was up to this time and could only let him do as he pleased. After all, he and she were not truly a couple; Augus wouldn't really beat up Zhong. Even if he wanted to fight, Zhong might not be an easy opponent!
"Do you need me to step away for a moment and give you two some quiet space?"
"You are the person involved; if you leave, who will watch the show?" Augus smiled lightly, stepping forward to pull Xinran close, deliberately resting an arm intimately on her shoulder.
"What do you want to say? Please be quick; I'm very busy!" Dong Shan Zhong frowned, finding the sight of the two closely entwined before him quite bothersome.
"Seeing how reluctant you were to part in the car just now, you must really love this woman, right?"
Dong Shan Zhong remained noncommittal. He had intended to wait until Summer and Shaoyang officially broke up before approaching Shaoyang, but since he had something to say now, he might as well listen.
"Unfortunately, this woman named Summer is still my Augus's woman!" Augus smirked mockingly at his cold-faced older brother.
"So what?"
"Not much, but considering I don't want to let her go, why not have a fair competition? What do you think?"
"Fair competition?" Dong Shan Zhong replied with some surprise.
"Yes, I don't care how far you've gone, but starting tomorrow, I won't allow my girlfriend to have emotional freedom anymore. I will do everything in my power to move her and win her back!" Augus said, glancing at Xinran and kissing her cheek.
"Do as you wish!" With that, Dong Shan Zhong opened the car door and got back inside, quickly driving away from Xinran's apartment.
"Alright, are you done playing?" Seeing Dong Shan Zhong leave, Xinran broke free from Augus's arm and pretended to glare in anger.
"Xinran, I wasn't joking earlier; I really plan to pursue you starting tomorrow!"
"Alright, I believe you're not joking. You can leave now; I'm really tired and want to go back and rest..."
"I just got off the plane after nearly ten hours, and I rushed here to see you without even eating!" Augus leaned forward, resting his head on Xinran's shoulder, almost putting all his weight on her.
Xinran reached out to support Augus's tall frame. She had only just noticed the suitcase in his hand. Although there was no romantic relationship between them, at least their friendship should count for something. It would be a huge mistake to let this popular superstar go hungry...
"Okay, okay, I'm scared of you! Let's go; I'll accompany you to eat! Where's Hiya? Why isn't she with you?"
"I told her I was looking for a girlfriend. Hiya has always been a sensible woman!" Augus replied with a grin.
"Oh my gosh!" Xinran looked up at the sky in frustration. She had naively thought that Augus would be easy to handle, but before she could even discuss terminating their contract, he had already put on quite a show. In the spirit of fair competition, she truly hoped he would keep his word!
