“Augus, are you okay?” Xinran walked into Augus's half-villa apartment. The night was dim, and as she turned on the wall lamp, she noticed Augus lying awkwardly on the living room sofa, looking quite weak.
Approaching the sofa, Xinran looked down at the sleeping Augus. His eyes were tightly shut, and his long, thick eyelashes were quite captivating. His hair was somewhat disheveled, and he wore a light blue bathrobe that was slightly open at the chest; even in his disheveled state, his handsome features were hard to conceal.
“Augus, wake up. Don't sleep here,” she bent down and gently nudged him, calling out again.
“You... why are you here...” After a moment, Augus slowly opened his eyes, looked at Xinran in front of him, closed them again, then opened them once more to hoarsely ask.
“Hiya is abroad. You must be out of your mind with fever. Call her to come take care of you. Even if she took the fastest flight, she wouldn't make it back in time, so I had no choice but to check if you were still alive,” Xinran said as she sat on the sofa and reached out to touch Augus's forehead to check his temperature. “Oh my God, how can you be this hot?”
“So what? I'm not dead yet... Are you disappointed?” Augus lightly curled his lips into a sarcastic smile.
Noticing that his lips were cracked from the high fever, Xinran frowned and said, “Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me. Please stop wasting your energy talking like this when you're so sick. Can you stand up by yourself? I'll help you back to your bedroom to sleep; you'll catch a cold here!”
“No!” A very firm reply. After saying that, Augus closed his eyes again, seemingly intending to continue sleeping.
“Consider it a favor; I can carry you on my back!” Xinran shook her head helplessly. She wrapped one arm around Augus's shoulder and gritted her teeth, using almost all her strength to pull him up. With this tall man—almost six feet tall—leaning on her shoulder, it was a miracle she didn't fall over!
Step by step, she struggled toward the bedroom. She should be grateful that Augus's bedroom wasn't upstairs; otherwise, it would have been much worse for her. Finally managing to get this long-limbed man onto the bed and covering him with the blanket, Xinran was already drenched in sweat...
“You rest for a bit; I'll go get you some medicine and an ice pack!” After carefully tucking in the blanket corners for him, Xinran whispered.
"I want to drink chicken congee..." Suddenly, Augus opened his eyes and threw out a statement at Xinran.
"Okay, after you take your medicine, I'll go buy it for you. Which place do you want to eat from?"
"I want to eat the one you make... I never eat chicken congee from outside..."
"Hey, Augus, you're really hard to please. What if I can't cook?" Xinran paused her steps to leave, turned back, and glared at the man on the bed.
But this gentleman seemed to know Xinran well; he completely ignored her rebuttal, turned his head aside, and closed his eyes.
"Fine, considering you're sick, I won't argue with you. Today I'll treat you like a king; is that okay?" Xinran gritted her teeth and left Augus's bedroom. It seemed she should add another point about his difficult nature: he never ate chicken congee bought from outside. She just couldn't understand; weren't all the ingredients for cooking congee bought from outside? He was truly a living oddity.
A gust of wind swept through, and Xinran finally found the medicine and ice pack in Augus's tidy apartment. At this point, the apartment was almost a dump. She couldn't blame herself; she wasn't the owner here and certainly wouldn't know where all the miscellaneous items were placed. Finding them so quickly was already impressive!
"Come on, open your mouth, take your medicine!" Sitting on the edge of the bed, Xinran helped Augus sit up and brought the medicine to his lips.
"It's too hot," as soon as Augus's lips touched the water in the cup, he immediately pushed it away...
"Hot?" Xinran took a sip of water in confusion, "It's not hot!"
"I only drink water that's around sixty-five degrees..."
"Augus, you childish little brat, should I measure the water temperature with a thermometer before bringing it to you?" The woman exploded in frustration!
