"Mr. Huo, it's a pleasure to meet you!" Jerry arrived at the café where he had arranged to meet Hoshia and, after taking a seat, greeted Hiya with a hint of sarcasm.
"Likewise, Mr. Fan!" Hiya replied calmly, a slight smile on her lips.
"Alright, I won't waste time on pleasantries. Let's get to the point! We're here today to discuss how to announce to the public that Summer and Augus have broken up, aiming to minimize the impact as much as possible. Do you have any good strategies in mind, Mr. Huo?" Jerry asked straightforwardly.
"Mr. Fan Jierui, I must apologize; I'm not here regarding the matter you mentioned. Perhaps I wasn't clear over the phone," Hiya said leisurely, stirring her coffee with a spoon, seemingly uninterested in the conversation with Jerry.
"Oh? If that's the case, our meetings over the past few days seem rather pointless! However, since my dear Summer has entrusted me to discuss the breakup announcement with you, even if we don't talk about it today, we will have to meet again..." Jerry had been in this industry long enough to recognize that Hoshia was there for another reason. He had also vaguely heard from Xinran that Augus seemed unwilling to break up with her and had other plans. However, he could not allow Augus to get closer to Xinran.
He had been friends with Xinran for many years and knew everything about her; she had never hidden anything from him. They shared an unspoken understanding. Yet, despite their familiarity—so much so that it wouldn't be awkward for them to share a bed—this was the first time he had seen Xinran cry so heartbreakingly.
Initially, when Xinran told him she wanted to pretend to be in a relationship with Augus for mutual benefit in their careers, he thought she had found good fortune. With Augus's support, it would be hard for her not to become famous; he even hoped they would end up together. But he never expected this was just a game between Augus and his brother. Xinran had already stepped into a trap and was destined to be hurt. That night, when she curled up in his arms crying uncontrollably, it tugged at his emotions and made his heart ache. If he had known this would be the outcome, he would have never allowed Xinran to do such a thing!
"Mr. Fan, I know you are acting on behalf of Xinran and hope to sever ties with Augus moving forward. I am also aware of everything that has transpired between them; I'm sure Xinran has shared the details with you."
Jerry looked at Hoshia without speaking, tacitly acknowledging her words as he took a sip of his coffee and waited for her to continue.
"Originally, it was meant to be a harmless joke; however, because Summer developed real feelings, this joke turned into a deception—what was supposed to be affection became harm. I feel quite embarrassed about this situation. Therefore, I am here today on behalf of Augus and his brother, hoping to offer some compensation for Xinran while also trying to minimize the damage as much as possible. What do you think, Mr. Fan?"
"A joke? Why does it sound like you're implying that all of this is Summer's fault for being too naive and falling for a joke? Miss Huo, your client seems intent on placing all the blame on Summer! We are not going to court; we are not here to argue about who is right or wrong or who should pay for their shameless actions. All I want is for my Xinran not to be hurt anymore and to live peacefully—that is enough!"
“Mr. Fan……”
“It seems that our conversation today will not yield any results. It would be better for Miss Huo to go back and discuss it with Augus. I hope he can be more generous and let Xinran go. Otherwise, if we are the ones to announce the breakup first, and it causes him any losses, that is not something we want to see! Well, I have said all I needed to say. Goodbye, Ms. Huo!” After saying this, Jerry stood up and left the café without looking back.
“Damn it!” Hiya glared at Jerry's retreating figure, feeling furious that this man showed her no respect at all!
