"Where are we going?" After getting into the car, Xinran asked as Mu Shaosi fastened his seatbelt.
"Going home for dinner!" His response was brief and straightforward. After securing his own seatbelt, Mu Shaosi turned to glance at Xinran, waiting for her reaction.
"Going home... for dinner? Which home are we going to?" A person's face suddenly flashed through Xinran's mind. She hadn't seen him in a while. Ever since returning from Japan, she had been on leave and had no work, so naturally, she hadn't had the chance to see that person.
"You can guess."
"So, I will also see Augus?" Xinran hesitated for a moment before asking again.
"Yes, he is my brother, so of course you will see him." Mu Shaosi skillfully turned the steering wheel. "Are you unwilling or just afraid it will be awkward?"
"I have nothing to be unwilling about; I will naturally do as you say. However, there will definitely be some awkwardness, considering how strange our relationship has been among the three of us!" Xinran replied softly while looking out the window. She didn't know what Mu Shaosi's purpose was in taking her home at this moment. Was it to show Augus that he was the ultimate winner, that he still got her?
The man in front of her didn't seem like a boring person. She preferred to imagine that he genuinely wanted to take her home to meet his parents since they were getting married. However, she couldn't deny that the mastermind behind that shameless game was this man. She could never explain the overly contradictory brotherly relationship between him and Augus. She could only guess that perhaps they had both fallen for the same woman, and the initial winner was Augus, which left Mu Shaosi still feeling unsatisfied...
After hearing Xinran's words, Mu Shaosi didn't respond further but instead accelerated towards Mu Residence. He knew this woman was currently wary of any of his actions and that he needed to be patient for a while longer to let her lower her guard. Even though this time he was genuinely taking her home to introduce his future wife to his father, he didn't need to explain himself. He knew she would interpret any explanation as a cover-up; in short, she would think he had ulterior motives!
"Young Master, you're back! The master, madam, and Second Young Master are already waiting for you in the living room." Aunt Tong said while carefully observing the beautiful woman beside the young master. She truly was a stunning lady with great poise.
Everyone in Mu Residence had heard early on that the young master would bring his fiancée home for dinner today. They were all looking forward to seeing the woman who would allow the young master to acknowledge her identity personally. When she arrived, Aunt Tong, who had served in Mu Residence for several decades, felt delighted. Even the usually indifferent young master had found someone he cherished. Yet, why did she always feel that this woman looked familiar? It seemed like she had seen her somewhere before!
"Yes!" Mu Shaosi nodded and pulled Xinran inside.
Xinran hurriedly nodded politely at Aunt Tong. It was her first time at the Mu Residence, and she wanted to make a good impression on everyone. As she stepped into the villa, which had a somewhat European feel, Xinran could only think that these upper-class people were all about how to enjoy life better. For instance, the Xia family members—she simply couldn't understand the concept of a high-quality life. All she knew was that her small apartment, resembling an ant nest, was cozy enough for her. In contrast, she often felt that such a large house made human connections feel thin and insubstantial.
"Big brother, you're back..." Augus stood up to greet Mu Shaosi but froze when he saw Xinran behind him.
Xinran could see Augus's surprise, as she felt a bit uneasy herself. Their relationship was manageable, but their romance had been sensationalized by nearly every entertainment magazine and news outlet. She doubted their parents were unaware that she had once been his girlfriend. The most critical issue now was that she had become the fiancée of his older brother. She truly couldn't imagine what the two elders would think of her!
