Xinran stayed by Mu Shaosi's bedside, feeding him medicine and porridge, replacing ice packs, and checking his temperature with an ear thermometer, until a day and night had passed.
During this time, Mu Shaosi had moments of consciousness. He stubbornly held Xinran's hand, insisting that she stay by his side and not leave. With her hand held, Xinran sat by the bed, gazing at the sick Mu Shaosi, her face filled with infinite tenderness. No matter how much she denied it, she had deeply fallen in love with him. However, she knew that giving the same love might not guarantee receiving the same in return.
She was a stubborn person; she would admit that she was in love, but she would not lose herself because of it. The man she loved had betrayed her. Would she still suppress her pain and refuse to let go? She was not the type to allow herself to be trampled on. The thought of watching the man she loved embrace another woman while she endured it was out of the question!
This was her detestable nature; she could not tolerate betrayal or humiliation and would never become a weak and pitiful woman. After just a few days, she would pack her bags and leave. She believed she would leave Mu Shaosi with dignity; he wanted to enjoy a happy life with a legitimate wife in one arm while holding her in the other, but she would not necessarily let him have his way.
Holding the used ice pack, Xinran walked out of the room to get a new one from the kitchen for Mu Shaosi to cool down. As she passed through the living room, she saw Takeuchi Yasuko sitting beside Old Master with a shy expression, engaged in conversation. However, she was not curious and continued into the kitchen.
"Summer, come here for a moment; I have something to discuss with Yasuko," Takahashi Ryu said, keeping an eye on what was happening among the three of them. He found it amusing that Xinran remained so composed; after all, Zhong Si had fallen ill and could not attend to his woman. Naturally, he wanted to take this opportunity to stir things up; otherwise, once Zhong Si recovered, he wouldn't have any fun left!
"What does Old Master want?" Xinran asked as she walked out of the kitchen toward Old Master and Takeuchi Yasuko. Her expression was natural, showing no signs of what had transpired earlier.
"Do you know about Yasuko and Zhong Si's situation?" Takahashi Ryu feigned seriousness as he watched Xinran closely, waiting for a different expression to appear on her face. He thought that if she loved that scoundrel, at least there should be some sign of anger from her. If he couldn't provoke any reaction from her after going this far, it would truly be a waste of effort!
"What does Old Master mean?" Xinran tilted her head slightly to look at Takeuchi Yasuko, whose face was flushed red. Although she did not speak, her unspoken feelings were already evident.
"Yasuko, you tell her yourself!"
"Grandfather, Yasuko feels very embarrassed..." Takeuchi Yasuko turned slightly to look at Xinran, still appearing delicate and weak. However, the possessiveness in her eyes was undeniable. "Miss Xinran, last night, I and Zhong Si Jun..."
She paused for a moment, deliberately leaving her words half-finished to spark curiosity, then continued, "Grandfather said that since things have already happened, we should arrange our wedding as soon as possible so I can officially marry into the Dongshan Family. Miss Xiran, I hope to receive your blessing, is that okay? Or will you mind my relationship with Zhong Si Jun? After all, you two are..."
Xinran watched coldly as Takeuchi Yasuko displayed an expression of great difficulty, which was truly hard to bear. Hearing her refer to her grandfather so affectionately, it was clear she had already considered herself a member of the Dongshan Family. Given this, Xinran felt compelled to support her; she couldn't bring herself to break up a couple.
She could see that Old Master and Takeuchi Yasuko were putting on a show in front of her, merely trying to force her to leave quickly. In truth, she wouldn't be able to stay much longer, but she was determined to hold on. It wasn't that she was particularly stubborn; rather, she had a strong sense of professional ethics. After all, she had signed a contract with Mu Shaosi back then, which held legal validity. She certainly intended to uphold it until the end to avoid any trouble later when Mu Shaosi might accuse her of not adhering to the Contract. To be honest, the reason she signed the Marriage Contract in the first place was that he had used his financial support for Xia Sheng Group as bait to attract her!
"It's alright, Miss Takeuchi. I don't mind at all and congratulations on becoming Dong Shan Zhong's legitimate wife. If there's an opportunity, you can invite me to your wedding, but only if I'm not filming at that time!" Xinran raised an eyebrow and said leisurely.
