In the midst of silence, the voice of the Safety Supervisor pierced through the speakers like cracks, each word carrying a sense of despair and rage. He said, "I've been with this company for too long, you know? If we don't catch you, my life is over. Since that's the case, let's play big, and break the net even if the fish die together!" 0

But before he could finish his sentence, Ren acted without hesitation, immediately initiating the virus program. Almost simultaneously, the unmanned drones following their car seemed to be disturbed by something strong, one after another shaking, losing balance, and then like falling meteors, exploding one by one with fire. 0

Through the rearview mirror, Ren and Lysias both saw the spectacular explosion, the fire reflecting in their determined eyes. Soon, a piercing scream came from the Safety Supervisor, filled with fear and despair, until it was drowned out by the sound of burning. 0

Afterward, the car returned to tranquility. The stereo automatically switched to a city radio station, and a cheerful pop song played, creating a stark contrast to the tense atmosphere just moments before. Lysias and Ren exchanged a smile, knowing that tonight they had once again snatched their fate from the hands of death. 0

The yellow light of the street lamp cast a wave-like shadow on the shattered glass of Pallet, as the car drove steadily on the main road of Night City. The city's neon lights and bustling crowds formed the background, contrasting with the silence and fatigue inside the car. Ren leaned back in the seat, eyes half-closed, clearly showing exhaustion and depletion. 0

Lysias glanced at Ren, with a hint of mischief and victorious excitement, and said, "So, you really managed to fry the brain-machine of that Safety Supervisor?" 0

Ren lifted his head, revealing a tired yet smug smile, and said, "That guy was incredibly careless. His central control unit had absolutely no firewall protection. I just made a few adjustments and caused the chip in his brain to explode. He probably never imagined that his own negligence would cost him his life." 0

Lysias sighed and said, "I don't know whether to call him a fool or just overly confident. But this should serve as a lesson to him." 0

Ren smiled lightly, "It's one less trouble in Night City." 0

Pallet moved slowly and finally arrived near After Life. Lysias chose not to park Pallet in front of the bar, but instead chose a parking spot near the side entrance to avoid attracting too much attention. Although they had successfully escaped pursuit, in this shadow-filled city, staying low-key was always the first rule of survival. 0

When Pallet stops in the parking lot of After Life, you can hear the bustling noise of various languages and dialects mixed in the bar. Pallet lets out a long sigh, as if lamenting everything he has experienced tonight. Ren and Lysias both push open the car door and step out, looking somewhat weary. 0

In the parking lot, many Mercenaries are repairing their equipment or simply maintaining their vehicles. Seeing Ren and Lysias, some people nod in affirmation or make a greeting gesture. Everyone here knows that they are colleagues in Night City. 0

Ren glanced at the parking lot, a slight smile on his lips, saying, "Back here again, feels good." Lysias responded, "Of course, tonight we really need to relax." 0

The neon lights of After Life flicker, its name carrying a kind of legendary presence in Night City. It is located in an old building, its exterior covered with various neon advertisements, blending future technology with ancient vibes. Every night, it is crowded with all kinds of Mercenaries, hackers, netrunners, and fixers. They come here to exchange information, find the next job, or simply relax and party. 0

The exterior of the bar is decorated with old neon lights, and a large neon sign at the entrance is made in the shape of an ancient skull, with a purple flame spewing from its mouth, and the words "After Life" shining brightly above. 0

The atmosphere outside After Life is always lively, often with some heavily intoxicated Mercenaries stumbling out, being loud and boisterous. When they see Ren and Lysias stepping out of the bullet-riddled Pallet, one of the tall, baseball-capped Mercenaries laughs and says, "Haha, look at this! You two look like you just came back from the battlefield. The whole car is full of bullet holes. Did someone chase you away?" 0

Another man with a prosthetic limb, holding a bottle of alcohol in his hand, added with a smile, "Are corporate wars this intense now? It looks like the two of you had a tough escape!" The crowd around them burst into laughter, with some shaking their heads in sympathy. 0

Ren and Lysias were not in the mood to pay attention to these people. The night's battle had already drained most of their energy, and at this moment, they just wanted to find a place to rest. Lysias tugged at Ren's sleeve, hinting that they should not continue to engage with them. 0

However, in the face of ridicule, Lysias always refused to back down. He responded to the group with a smile that didn't reach his eyes, "Yes, just finished fighting, it was really satisfying. If you're interested, you can try next time, but I can't guarantee you'll walk out alive like us." With that, he turned his gaze towards the underground entrance of the bar and led Ren inside. 0

The corridor was dimly lit, with only sporadic neon lights flashing blue, red, and green, illuminating the way ahead. The ground bore occasional damp marks, remnants left by earlier intoxicated patrons. Every step had to be taken cautiously, to avoid stepping on unknown substances and accidentally slipping. 0

As they went deeper, the surrounding sounds grew louder. It was the noise of guests in After Life, chatting, laughing, and arguing. Every time the door opened, it brought a strong smell of alcohol, mixed with various other scents, making the atmosphere tense. The ambiance here was completely different from outside, a unique world under Night City. 0

When they reached the bar's entrance, both were surrounded by the strong smell. Mixed with alcohol, cigarettes, body odor, and other indescribable scents, it was the unique "fragrance" of this bar. Ren frowned, seeming uncomfortable, while Lysias took a deep breath, seemingly enjoying this unique scent. 0

Lysias smiled and said, "This is the taste of After Life, addictive, isn't it?" Ren sighed, indicating that this is truly one of the most representative places in Night City. 0
