Night Star clearly understood what it meant to give this command, yet he did not know why he had issued it.
The woman named Mo Xier had unknowingly captured his heart, leaving him with no ability to resist. He had never experienced such feelings before.
The night wind brushed against his forehead, and he suddenly found himself missing her sun-like smile. If he could never uncover her past, perhaps keeping her by his side like this wouldn’t be so bad?
While Night Star was lost in thought, on the other side, Mo Xier was not sleeping well.
It was still the same dream, a dream she had been having repeatedly for several days. In the white mist, she wandered like a lost child, stumbling forward despite the obstacles ahead.
The gentle murmurs of the White-Clad Woman echoed in her ears. She tried hard to pretend she couldn’t hear anything, yet everything was unusually clear.
As the dream progressed, she began to see more and more. The face of the White-Clad Woman became increasingly distinct. She slowly reached out to touch her but found only empty air—nothing more.
“Why don’t you love me?” At some point, a man in armor appeared before the White-Clad Woman, standing with his back to her and saying nothing.
From Mo Xier's perspective, it was clear that the woman was peeking at him, completely unaware of her presence behind him. Could this man be the one the White-Clad Woman longed for?
Continuing forward, the Armored Man suddenly vanished, leaving her alone once again.
The woman slowly turned around, but her face was too blurred to see clearly. However, this time her words changed: “I want to go home. Will you take me home?”
“Where is your home?” Mo Xier instinctively asked loudly. Finally, there seemed to be progress in this dream; how could she give up now?
She anxiously stepped forward to get closer but found herself drifting further away. The White-Clad Woman and she were like two magnets with the same polarity—no matter what they did, they could not come together.
Just as she managed to catch up with the woman, she discovered that the figure before her had already vanished!
What is going on here? When will she finally know who she really is? Who is the owner of this body?
It felt as if something within her was trying to break free, gripping her collar tightly. At that moment, she could hardly breathe, as if all the emotions of the White-Clad Woman were affecting her.
Suddenly, a thought arose in her mind: could that woman be the former owner of this body?
However, the dream did not last long. Just as she was feeling so sad that she could barely breathe, someone shook her awake. She suddenly opened her eyes, and the light outside was so bright that she could hardly keep them open. Turning her head silently, her eyes were filled with confusion.
What met her gaze was Ru Er's worried expression. "Miss, are you alright? Why are you crying all of a sudden? Did you have a bad dream?"
Raising her hand in confusion, she felt the coldness on her skin; indeed, she had been crying! In a panic, she wiped away the tears on her face and forced a smile. "It's nothing, I just had a nightmare."
"Miss..." Ru Er wanted to comfort her but didn't know what to say. She could only smile back. "Miss, let me style your hair today; I promise it will look better than anyone else's!"
Looking at the little girl in front of her with a smile warmed her heart. Although they hadn't known each other for long, this girl treated her so well; it was truly a blessing.
Putting aside those chaotic emotions, since she had come here, she would live well. No matter what the former owner of this body was like, she would create her own brilliance!
She also believed that some truths would reveal themselves in due time.
Sitting up straight in front of the mirror, she gently brushed her soft cheek with her hand. In just a few days since arriving at the general's residence, the good food had improved her complexion significantly; it was now more rosy and charming than before.
"You are becoming more and more beautiful, no wonder the young master takes such good care of you."
There was a hint of envy in Ru Er's words. However, it rang alarm bells in Mo Xier's heart; beauty was good, but one day it might also become a curse. "Did your young master go to court today?"
"The Old Madam has not yet awakened; how could the young master attend court? He is probably in his study dealing with official documents right now."
She nodded slightly and said, "Then please take my breakfast to your young master's study. I have something to discuss with him."
After speaking, she raised her hand to stop Ru Er from continuing to comb her hair, smiling gently as she added, "But today, don't style it too complicated; just a simple one will do."
Ru Er nodded in confusion and quickly styled her hair into a simple updo, adding some pearl accessories. The entire process took no more than a quarter of an hour.
"Thank you," she said with a smile to Ru Er and turned to head into Night Star's study.
Upon entering the room, her breakfast had not yet been served. She walked straight to the man’s side, placing one hand on his memorial and forcing him to meet her gaze.
"I have something to say." Mo Xier's eyes were clearly swollen, showing signs of having cried. Night Star raised an eyebrow slightly and moved her hand away.
"Go ahead," he said, lowering his head to continue reading what was in his hands.
Blocking his line of sight again, Mo Xier displayed an unusual stubbornness. "No! You need to listen carefully; this might involve my true identity!"
Hearing this, Night Star finally lifted his gaze, set down what he was holding, leaned back slowly, and sighed lightly. "Fine, go ahead."
She recounted the dream from the previous day in detail, emphasizing the armor worn by the man. After waking up, she had been replaying her dream in her mind and finally noticed a detail.
She clearly saw that there was a special mark on the man's armor, resembling an Azure Dragon.
Night Star's expression darkened as he asked with uncertainty, "You mean you saw what?"
"The mark like that of an Azure Dragon!" Under such questioning, she became even more resolute; she believed she could not be mistaken!
After a moment of silence, he handed her something from beside him and instructed, "Please draw it for me."
Mo Xier carefully recalled and then picked up her pen to sketch what was in her mind. A winding, squiggly shape resembling a caterpillar appeared on the paper, leaving those who looked at it bewildered.
After staring at what she had drawn for a few seconds, Night Star couldn't help but shake his head, biting his lip as if trying to suppress a laugh.
"Hey! That's enough!" Mo Xier whispered angrily. She was good at many things, but drawing was not one of them. The way it turned out was already her limit, yet this man dared to mock her!
Hearing this, Night Star finally burst into laughter, shaking with amusement. This was the first time in a long while that he laughed so heartily; this woman truly brought him unexpected joy.
His laughter was so loud that even the young servants outside couldn't help but turn their heads in disbelief. They had never heard their young master laugh like that before!
Inwardly, they felt even more admiration for Mo Xier. Anyone who could make the young master laugh like that would surely not be an ordinary person.
"No more laughing! I'm trying to discuss serious matters here!" In the next moment, Mo Xier wished she could immediately cover his mouth! Her face turned crimson with embarrassment.
Night Star shook his head, putting down what he had in his hands and finally managing to compose himself. "Is this really the best you can draw?"
Looking at the twisted shape in her hands, it was nearly unrecognizable.
Ignoring the man's mockery, Mo Xier thought carefully and then said in a low voice, "The Azure Dragon looks like an S." She gestured with her hand and continued, "The Azure Dragon is very exquisite; it doesn’t resemble an ordinary soldier but rather..." She trailed off, staring intently at Night Star.
The man's expression grew serious as he continued her thought: "A general?"
"Exactly!" His words instantly earned her approval.
Night Star nodded slowly. "I understand. I will have my subordinates investigate this direction."
"You must investigate thoroughly!" She leaned on the table with both hands, her eyes shining with determination. "I want to see which arrogant man dared to refuse me!"
During this time, her breakfast had already been brought in and quietly placed on the table, emitting an enticing aroma.
After taking a light sniff of the delicious scent in the air and finishing an important task, she relaxed her mind, touched her rumbling stomach, and happily sat down at the table to indulge.
While eating, she praised, "I have to admit, your chef is quite good; this is so delicious that I can't stop."
Seeing the woman enjoying her meal so much, Night Star couldn't help but wonder if they were eating the same thing. How could the same dish taste so much better for her?
His gaze, which had originally been focused on handling documents, gradually shifted to her face with a hint of curiosity. Eventually, he simply stopped what he was doing, stood up, and sat beside her, instructing a servant to bring him a pair of chopsticks.
"What are you doing?" Mo Xier asked defensively, wrapping her arms around her food as if protecting it.
"Having breakfast," Night Star replied coldly as he brushed her hand aside. "This is my residence; shouldn't I be allowed to eat?"
Pouting in grievance, she said, "If you want to eat, can't you just have them make something new? Why do you have to eat mine?"
"Yours looks delicious."
He reached out and grabbed a piece with his chopsticks and immediately tossed it into his mouth, leaving her dumbfounded. This stubborn man had become so unreasonable!
Watching him take bite after bite, Mo Xier puffed out her cheeks defiantly and grabbed her own chopsticks. In just a few minutes, their plate was completely empty.
Rubbing their round bellies, Night Star and she exchanged smiles, both amused by their somewhat childish behavior.
