Liu Ziming had never seen a Morgue, but in his understanding, a Morgue was a place where dead bodies were kept, so there should be many corpses inside. However, this Mortuary One was completely empty.
Zhang Li stood to the side, also observing the strange situation inside, but he did not express his thoughts.
The cold air in the Morgue had dissipated, and Li Nan lifted his foot to step inside. Behind him, Zhang Li blocked Li Nan and said, "It's dangerous inside; don't act recklessly!"

Liu Ziming was puzzled. "Why are there no bodies?"
Li Nan explained, "This Mortuary One is a segmented building. The refrigeration equipment cannot maintain a temperature of minus ten degrees over a large area, so the entire area is divided into six sections, each independently cooled and not connected to one another!"
Behind the door of Mortuary One, there was nothing remarkable—just a plain white wall. On that wall were six small doors; although they were not tall, they were particularly spacious.
Li Nan continued, "This is for the convenience of transporting bodies. Let's go to Door 3; that's where we can find what we're looking for!"
Zhang Li understood and said, "Leave two brothers here to guard the door; we'll go in."
The twelve brothers led by Zhang Li were all from Wolf Fang Special Forces, so their military discipline was impeccable. Two young soldiers remained stationed at either side of Door 3.
The remaining thirteen entered in single file, with Zhang Li in front and Li Nan closely following.
After passing through the small door, the space behind opened up significantly—about two or three hundred square meters. Looking around, it was filled with storage cabinets, and inside those cabinets were corpses.
Zhang Li dismissed the remaining Wolf Fang Soldiers and looked around cautiously to sense the environment. He wondered if any zombies had already wandered out; it was still unknown.
The Morgue was eerily quiet; if a needle fell on the ground at that moment, it would certainly be heard. After a moment of vigilance, Zhang Li confirmed that there were no moving objects within a ten-meter radius.
The layout of the Morgue basically followed the arrangement of bookshelves in a library; only instead of books, it stored corpses.
Each storage cabinet was eight meters long, four meters deep, and one point five meters high, divided into three levels with a pull-out structure. Li Nan looked around and pointed to the left corner of the Morgue. "The three corpses delivered tonight are placed in cabinets 168, 169, and 170 over there!"
Zhang Li commanded the Wolf Fang Soldiers to split into four groups, each on alert for the front, back, left, and right directions, while he himself stepped forward with a Thompson Submachine Gun in the direction indicated by Li Nan.
The morgue was very quiet, but Zhang Li still did not dare to let his guard down. His reckless action this time was to eliminate the three Zombies; if they failed and ended up in trouble, it would be self-inflicted suffering for Zhang Li and his team. Therefore, necessary caution was still required.
In the left corner, Li Nan pointed at a row of three cabinets and said, "It's these three; they are inside!"
At that moment, Liu Ziming had already rushed to the front, intending to turn the three Corpse Storage Cabinets into a sieve. However, Han Guang, who had been behind him, stopped him and said, "Hold on, Captain Zhang. Don't you feel something is off here?"
Han Guang's words made Zhang Li suspicious as well; things seemed too easy! They could directly attack and corner the three Zombies in these Corpse Storage Cabinets!
Li Nan understood what Han Guang was trying to say; indeed, the situation here was a bit unusual.
Li Nan told Zhang Li, "From the damaged iron door in the abandoned corridor, at least one Zombie has escaped from the Corpse Storage Cabinet. Yet there are no traces of Zombies here; doesn't that seem strange?"
Zhang Li suddenly realized, "Are you saying that in this environment, perhaps we are in the light while they are in the dark?"
Li Nan nodded, while Zhang Li smiled wryly and said, "These Ghosts are really dangerous. We should check this place first to confirm whether there are any Zombies!"
Due to the threat posed by the Zombies, Zhang Li and the thirteen others did not disperse but formed a small group to thoroughly check every nook and cranny inside Door 3. After confirming there were no Zombies present, they returned to stand before Corpse Storage Cabinets 168, 169, and 170. Zhang Li then declared, "I don't believe thirteen of us can't handle three Zombies!" After saying this, Liu Ziming stepped forward to open the cabinet.
The exterior of the Corpse Storage Cabinet had a small groove; its internal structure was arranged like a mechanical lever that required force from outside to pull it out. Li Nan had already explained this clearly.
Liu Ziming stood beside the Corpse Storage Cabinet and reached out with his right hand to pull it. Next to him were three Thompson Submachine Guns aimed at the cabinet that was about to be pulled out; as soon as anything unusual was seen inside, they could immediately turn it into a sieve.
After exerting force, Liu Ziming found that the cabinet was surprisingly light and did not seem like it contained anyone. He quietly said to Zhang Li, "Company Commander, this doesn't feel right; it seems like there's nothing inside."
Zhang Li asked suspiciously, "Are you sure?"
Liu Ziming nodded. Meanwhile, Li Nan suggested to Zhang Li, "Then let's not open this one; let's try 169 first!"
Zhang Li said, while Liu Ziming approached cabinet number 169. Even when he exerted force, it still felt light and empty.
Li Nan then suggested, "Try number 170!"
The weights of the three Corpse Storage Cabinets all indicated that there were no bodies inside. Could it be that there was really nothing in them? Not even a Zombie!
At this moment, Liu Ziming boldly turned around. The three Corpse Storage Cabinets opened wide, and indeed, they were completely empty!
"What’s going on? Did all three Zombies escape?" Liu Ziming and the others were puzzled by the situation. Just a moment ago, they had thoroughly checked the area and confirmed that there were no Zombies present. Now, with nothing inside the Corpse Storage Cabinets, where could the Zombies have gone? Or was it possible that there were never any Zombies to begin with?
Just then, several chilling screams echoed, sounding extremely horrifying.
Zhang Li was the first to react, immediately grabbing his Submachine Gun and rushing toward the door.
Li Nan lagged behind the group. He turned back to look inside cabinets 168, 169, and 170, and his face turned ashen.
Han Guang did not rush ahead either. Seeing Li Nan turn back, he followed suit and noticed that cabinets 168 and 169 each contained a transparent plastic bag, while cabinet number 170 was completely empty.
Han Guang did not ask what Li Nan was thinking; he simply gripped his Fire Axe tightly and stayed close behind the others.
The screams came from the two soldiers guarding the door, which is why Zhang Li and the Wolf Fang Soldier were so anxious. If their teammates encountered danger, it would mean that their entire strategic deployment had gone awry on the battlefield.
