After a perilous journey, although they had managed to turn danger into safety, the urgency of the situation had once again risen. They could not afford to linger here, and the signs of thin air were becoming increasingly evident. 0

Li Nan sat on the ground, gasping for breath, and his complexion was quite poor. 0

He instructed Liu Ziming to hold the flashlight while he pulled aside the fabric tied around his right shoulder, revealing a patch of raw flesh. 0

Li Nan's right arm had fallen to the ground and had been struck several times, resulting in a large chunk of skin being torn away from his shoulder, with dislocated and fractured joints. 0

"Do you have a lighter?" Li Nan asked Han Guang, recalling that Han Guang had one when he was smoking in the corridor. 0

Han Guang searched for a moment before handing over the lighter. "The wound is already festering; if we don't treat it soon, the consequences could be severe!" 0

Li Nan took the lighter with his left hand. "I'm a doctor; I know the consequences of a festering wound. Why else would I borrow your lighter? To smoke?" 0

Li Nan was indeed in a bad mood, which made him speak somewhat harshly, as the pain from his injury was unbearable. In such situations, fractures are relatively easy to treat; as long as the technique is correct, they can be reattached without much issue. However, external wounds are much more troublesome. Without anti-inflammatory medication, wounds in such high-temperature environments can easily become infected, potentially endangering life. 0

Grimacing, Li Nan said to Liu Ziming, "Tear off a piece of cloth about the size of half a palm from my shirt, light it with the lighter, and throw it on the raw flesh!" 0

Infection from external wounds should not be underestimated, especially in difficult environments. Therefore, Liu Ziming did not hesitate and immediately threw the burning cloth onto Li Nan's shoulder. 0

With a sizzling sound, a smell of burnt protein filled the entire Distribution Station, reminiscent of grilled steak. 0

Large beads of sweat rolled down Li Nan's face as he gritted his teeth, feeling some relief from the pain in his uneven molars. 0

Five seconds later, Li Nan shook his arm painfully to get rid of the burning cloth and said to Liu Ziming, "With such a big piece, do you want to roast my whole arm?" 0

The fact that he could say this indicated that Li Nan was not in serious trouble. Liu Ziming chuckled and replied, "A man is truly a man!" 0

Li Nan grinned, "To survive, I would even cut off an arm; it's just instinct for survival!" 0

Then Li Nan tossed the lighter back to Han Guang, who replied with a smile, "Actually, you might as well use the burning powder from the bullets. That stuff burns thoroughly and is even better for disinfection!" 0

Li Nan glanced at the wound on his right shoulder. The necrotic and new flesh had already been cooked, so he didn't have to worry about infection; it was just the burning pain that lingered. 0

"We need to conserve the bullets. This method will do for now; we don't have to worry about this arm for the time being!" Li Nan said seriously, though inside he was already groaning. 0

Just then, Li Xiaofan, who had been busy behind them, spoke up: "It's done! The low-pressure frequency converter is fixed. As long as we reconnect the severed cable over there, we can restore power here and to the Morgue!" 0

Zhang Li and the others were overjoyed; it seemed there was still hope for escape. 0

Li Xiaofan was also quite excited, but he didn't take a break and hurried off to fix the cable. 0

Li Nan praised him, "A good warrior! I hope we can get out safely this time!" 0

Although the two zombies that had rushed over earlier had left, the commotion attracted five or six more zombies. However, they showed no intention of attacking; in their perception, these eleven people were also zombies, their kind. 0

Li Xiaofan ignored the interference from the zombies and focused on repairing the cable. It turned out that Li Xiaofan was indeed skilled; within a few minutes, everything was sorted out. 0

Meanwhile, in the Distribution Station, Zhang Li pulled down the power switch again, and the entire Control Room instantly lit up. 0

Everyone squinted and raised their hands to shield their eyes from being blinded by the sudden brightness. 0

Although they had been using Wolf Eye Flashlights for illumination during the power outage, those provided only point light sources. Adjusting to this broad area of light required some time. 0

A bright light flashed, and after a few seconds, everyone removed their hands and looked straight ahead. Everything in the Control Room came into view, and at that moment, Zhang Li and Li Nan felt a tightness in their throats. 0

In the Control Room, which was about half the size of a typical Control Room, hundreds of Zombies were densely packed and wandering around. Although they had prepared for this number, seeing it in person was still shocking. 0

It was terrifying! It was like a scene from hell filled with malevolent spirits, with all kinds of gruesome and horrifying Zombies moving back and forth. Zhang Li and his group felt as if they were in another world, completely devoid of any sense of harmony! 0

Li Nan exclaimed, "This is truly a joke played by the creator on humanity. With these things around, what do we even need humans for?" 0

Zhang Li replied, "Perhaps our purpose is simply to eliminate them!" 0

Han Guang chimed in, "Eliminating them is something we can deal with after we get out. Right now, our top priority is to find a way out!" 0

They couldn't afford to delay any longer. Zhang Li took the lead with his gun, followed by the Wolf Fang Soldier, with Li Nan second to last and Han Guang bringing up the rear. 0

Han Guang dragged his Fire Axe along the ground, creating a shower of sparks. 0

Almost every part of the Control Room was occupied by Zombies, so to return through the vent they had come down from, they would have to navigate through a tide of over three hundred Zombies. 0

Li Nan steeled himself; since the Zombies hadn’t noticed him yet, he bravely maneuvered through them. Han Guang stayed alert behind him, constantly watching for any changes in the Zombies. He didn't know how long their current state would last; being cautious never hurt—this was wisdom gained from years of experience as a police officer. 0

In reality, these Zombies showed no reaction. Although they stared unblinkingly at the humans, they ultimately did not attack. 0

As they reached the center of the Control Room, Han Guang instinctively looked up at the Ceiling and noticed several smoke detectors. He had seen these outside the Morgue corridor, so they left a strong impression on him. 0

Han Guang focused on those smoke detectors; his expression tightened as he quickly turned around and saw a wisp of black smoke rising from the area near the Distribution Station. 0

"Not good, things are changing. Hurry up, we need to reach that ventilation shaft as quickly as possible!" 0

Li Nan, confused, instinctively turned around and noticed the thick smoke rising behind him. "What's going on? How did it catch fire?" he thought to himself, unconsciously quickening his pace. 0

Fortunately, the power system had been restored, and fresh air was being pumped in. Otherwise, just running a few steps would have put him at risk of suffocation. 0

Zhang Li and the Wolf Fang Soldiers were all elite soldiers with great stamina. Han Guang, coming from a police background, had no problem chasing down thieves. However, Li Nan's physical condition was simply too poor. Even with ample air, he was still gasping for breath after just a few steps, and his calves were starting to cramp. 0

Just as Li Nan was struggling to catch his breath, water suddenly poured down from the smoke vent in the ceiling, drenching the entire Control Room as if it had been rained on. 0

This kind of water spray would last at least three minutes once triggered. With those three minutes, even a panda could be turned into a polar bear; let alone Li Nan, who was disguised as a Zombie. 0

Sure enough, as soon as the water fell, the surrounding Zombies became restless, seemingly sensing the scent of prey nearby. 0

At this point, Li Nan couldn't care about his cramping calves anymore. He sprang into action like a coiled spring and dashed out. However, he still lagged behind everyone else; even Han Guang, who was bringing up the rear, couldn't catch up. 0

"This is it; I'm going to be Zombie food!" Li Nan's heart sank, and his footsteps seemed to falter. Since there was no way to escape this dead end, he might as well face it calmly. 0

The Zombies around him seemed to sense a grand feast ahead and eagerly surged toward the humans in front of them. 0

Underneath the ventilation shaft, Zhang Li arrived first but instructed those behind him: "You go up first, one after another!" 0

Zhang Li stood against the wall with his hands cupped in front of him. A Wolf Fang Soldier sprinted a few meters before stepping onto Zhang Li's hands. Zhang Li pushed upward with force, allowing the soldier to leap easily over the four-meter gap. 0

One by one, Zhang Li helped all the Wolf Fang Soldiers up while he himself remained still. 0

“Company Commander, hurry up and jump over here! We’ll pull you up with our arms!” Liu Ziming shouted anxiously at Zhang Li as a group of Zombies lunged toward them. 0

Zhang Li shook his head, “There are still two people. I have to get them up too!” 0

In the center of the Control Room, Li Nan felt a wave of disdain wash over him at the thought of dying at the hands of these Zombies. “If I had known this would happen, I should have become a monk and lived a vegetarian life. Now I’m going to end up being eaten!” 0

Just as Li Nan was preparing to face his death calmly, a red Fire Axe suddenly flew over, followed by an extremely angry voice shouting, “What are you dawdling for? Run!” 0

Seeing it was Han Guang, Li Nan couldn’t help but feel overjoyed. “Can we really escape?” 0

“Damn it, why did I come back to save you? Am I supposed to risk my own life too?” 0

Li Nan was taken aback by Han Guang’s words. “Not running means certain death; running doesn’t guarantee survival!” Once he realized this, he couldn’t help but curse inwardly, “When did you become so stubborn? Who the hell taught you that?” 0

Han Guang swung the Fire Axe like a warrior from legend, cleaving through the air with three powerful strikes that took down seven or eight approaching Zombies. He then shouted loudly, “Hurry up and run, or I’ll chop you too!” 0

Li Nan felt adrenaline surge through him as he sprinted away with all his might. 0
