Liu Heping's face showed a smile as he helped the unconscious Li Nan up and placed him on a simple bed board. 0

When the three corpses were sent to Jiangbei Hospital, Liu Heping had already developed sinister thoughts. He had prepared all the necessary equipment and instruments for the underground activities in advance. If it weren't for Zhang Li and others insisting on going down to the Morgue to investigate, Liu Heping might have completed a grand and terrifying scheme in secret. However, things went awry, and he unexpectedly encountered Zhang Li and the others. 0

Fortune and misfortune are intertwined; Liu Heping was unsure whether this was a good or bad thing. Fortunately, everything was still under his control for the time being, especially since he unexpectedly obtained a subject for an experiment. 0

Liu Heping gathered a bunch of bottles, all labeled with dense English text. It was evident that these were medical drugs, specifically neuroactive substances. 0

He securely bound Li Nan to the bed board and then took out a syringe, carefully drawing about 1 milligram from a blue vial before cautiously injecting it into Li Nan's artery. 0

The blue vial contained Deoxyephedrine, commonly known as Methamphetamine. Of course, Liu Heping didn't learn this skill from watching "Breaking Bad"; what foreign chemistry teachers could do, domestic surgeons could also accomplish. 0

Liu Heping had conducted a detailed examination of Li Nan's physical condition beforehand. There were no cardiovascular diseases, meaning that injecting a small amount of Deoxyephedrine wouldn't cause Li Nan to suffer sudden death. However, since his body was quite weak, Liu Heping reduced the dosage of Deoxyephedrine. 0

As Li Nan lay unconscious, the moment he was injected with the drug, his body suddenly tensed up, and his limbs involuntarily trembled as if his immune system were rejecting this hallucinogenic substance. 0

Liu Heping observed carefully from the side; for now, everything seemed to be a normal reaction. To control Li Nan, Liu Heping needed to inject him with Deoxyephedrine and also implant suggestions into his subconscious mind. This fell within the realm of psychology. Fortunately, Liu Heping was a well-rounded individual with aspirations, so he was quite adept at these matters in his plan. 0

In ten-minute intervals, Liu Heping injected ten doses totaling 10 milligrams of Deoxyephedrine into Li Nan before attempting to awaken him. 0

A heavy blow struck Li Nan hard; he thought he was facing inevitable doom. In his subconscious mind, he didn't care how absurd or fantastical Liu Heping's intentions were; he merely felt as if he had entered a dream. However, that dream felt somewhat exhilarating, as if floating lightly like a cloud. The gentle breeze brushed against his skin like a beautiful woman's soft touch on her ample bosom—an experience akin to that of an inexperienced young man who couldn't help but lose control. 0

Li Nan remained immersed in this joyful dream until he suddenly saw enormous and grotesque hands grabbing his limbs and pulling him down from the heavens into the depths of hell. 0

"Where is this?" Li Nan shouted as he noticed figures resembling gods and beasts surrounding him. 0

"This is Hell of No Escape; who are you?" Suddenly, all the figures vanished before Li Nan's eyes as a silhouette stepped forward. 0

As Li Nan focused on the figure, it gradually became clear that it was none other than Outpatient Department Deputy Director Liu Heping. 0

"It's you!" Li Nan exclaimed. 0

The figure showed no expression. "Do you recognize me?" 0

Li Nan was furious and immediately wanted to punch this conspirator and ambitious man. 0

However, just as Li Nan swung his fist, the figure abruptly vanished into thin air. 0

Li Nan was stunned and looked around, only to find that the surroundings had become blurry. 0

"I am not the person you speak of. I am the king here, and everyone present must obey me, including you!" 0

Li Nan was shocked. Following the direction of the voice, he discovered a gigantic human face appearing above him. He then felt an immense and persistent pressure bearing down on him, forcing Li Nan to kneel and bow his head towards the face above. 0

Filled with rage, Li Nan gathered all his strength to struggle, but he could not move at all. "Damn it! I refuse to kneel! You claim to be the king here; I say I am the Jade Emperor of this place! Damn your mother, Liu Heping!" 0

Li Nan felt as if all his bones were filled with lead, pulling him down as if there were a force more irresistible than gravity compelling him to submit. 0

With a loud thud, Li Nan's knees struck the ground heavily, yet he still held his head high. He wanted to resist, even if it meant mutual destruction. 0

In an instant, the voice above had descended before Li Nan, delivering a heavy slap that left him dizzy, as if he had fallen into a cloud of mist. 0

Li Nan felt a tightness in his throat and an intense heat coursing through his body, as if he were in a furnace. He rasped, trying to shout for help, but no one came; moments later, he felt a chill invade him, as if icy blades were slicing through the air around him. 0

The sensation of alternating between ice and fire was something Li Nan truly experienced this time. 0

"Am I going to die?" Li Nan subconsciously concluded that he wouldn't survive this time. "Well then, dying at someone else's hands is better than dying in the mouth of a Zombie!" 0

As Li Nan muttered to himself, Liu Heping was beside him, pushing a syringe filled with black liquid into Li Nan's artery. 0

Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Liu Heping murmured, "This time it's up to you; if it fails, you'll be dead!" 0

The enormous syringe with a needle resembling a large pore plunged into Li Nan's vein without hesitation. Layer upon layer of thick black liquid was injected into Li Nan's body and quickly circulated throughout. 0

The viscous black liquid flowed through the brachial artery and passed through both atria before being compressed and distributed throughout his body. In an instant, Li Nan's blood felt like a diesel engine fueled with gasoline—internally damaged in an instant. 0

Liu Heping observed this test subject with apparent satisfaction. Previously, he had been experimenting on corpses from the Morgue but had poor results; he couldn't control those turned into living dead from corpses. However, Li Nan's situation was different—he wanted to see if any willpower from the living would remain in the Zombie's brain after transformation. 0

Li Nan lay quietly on a board like a corpse without moving at all, but Liu Heping paid no mind. A person bitten by a Zombie—essentially the third corpse hidden by Liu Heping—would completely transform into a Zombie after about three hours. Thus, transforming from corpse to Zombie required patience—a necessary skill for any experimenter. 0

Liu Heping estimated that it took three hours for someone bitten by a Zombie to transform; however, his method was different. He directly used the black blood of Zombies to infect patients, so the time required was shorter—approximately half an hour for complete transformation. 0

Half an hour later, Li Nan still lay on the board without any reaction. 0

Liu Heping was stunned; the estimated time had passed, yet the subject did not respond as anticipated. Could there have been an error in the experiment? 0

Liu Heping tested Li Nan's vital signs and found that he was still breathing, albeit extremely weakly. 0

"Impossible!" Liu Heping thought to himself. He had already injected Zombie's Black Blood into Li Nan's body, and logically, he should have been assimilated by now. Even if he hadn't transformed into a Zombie, he should be dead; how could he still be breathing? 0

Liu Heping checked Li Nan's Heart again and discovered that it was still functioning. Although it was beating very slowly each minute, it had not stopped, which left Liu Heping somewhat baffled. 0

In the Underground Morgue, Liu Heping had never seen a living person infected before. However, according to his medical understanding, this Zombie must be a form of disease, meaning there existed an unseen virus that, once it infected a human, would turn them into the Walking Dead. Each Zombie was a carrier of the virus, which meant that anyone bitten by a Zombie would also become infected and subsequently turn into a Zombie. Therefore, logically speaking, the viral load in this Zombie's Black Blood should be at its maximum. There was no reason for Li Nan to still show signs of life! 0

"Could it be that the dosage of the Zombie's Black Blood is too high, or is Deoxyephedrine having a counteractive effect?" As Liu Heping pondered this, his mind suddenly clicked. "Could it be that Deoxyephedrine can resist the infection of the Zombie Virus?" 0

This discovery was incredibly important. If there were to be another Nobel Prize in the future, Liu Heping's finding could definitely earn him a Nobel Prize in Medicine. A smile unprecedented appeared on Liu Heping's face. "If I found an antidote for Zombie infection, wouldn't all the wealth of the world come to me?" 0

Having just completed his ambitions of world domination like Hitler, Liu Heping began to dream about Bill Gates' wealth again; human greed knows no bounds. 0

While Liu Heping was lost in his dreams, Li Nan, who was bound on the bed, suddenly twitched his fingers and slowly opened his eyes with an unusual expression. 0

The world remained the same; Liu Heping was still the deranged Outpatient Department Deputy Director, and Li Nan was still Li Nan. 0
