With a loud "thud," Li Nan's face slammed against the ground, blood spilling from his mouth.
Han Guang had already gathered around, patting Li Nan on the shoulder and laughing, "It seems fate has decided this for you; you might as well stop struggling. Besides, looking at your condition, you don't seem close to becoming a Zombie. Perhaps there really is a chance for a turnaround!"
Li Nan remained noncommittal, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth before standing up. "I don't want to die either, but the thought of becoming a Walking Dead is truly repulsive! I might as well die early and be reborn!"
At that moment, Zhang Li also approached, picking up the Triangular Bayonet and stowing it away behind him.
"I might have been a bit too emotional earlier, but if I see any signs of you turning into a Zombie, I won't hesitate to take action!" Zhang Li said.
Li Nan looked around at everyone nearby; they all held hope for the outside world and had fantasies about him.
Li Nan clicked his tongue and said, "Who doesn't want to survive? But is there still a chance for me?"
Li Xiaofan chimed in, "There were fifteen of us who came down here, and now only eight are left. You can't afford to die too quickly!"
Feeling the camaraderie of his companions, Li Nan chuckled wryly. "Alright! The only way out now is that elevator; I'll accompany you on the last stretch!"
The storage room was in complete disarray, and Li Nan couldn't find any useful medicine. However, for now, none of the soldiers showed any signs of frostbite.
They had been in this Underground Morgue for far too long; no one wanted to linger here any longer. After tidying up, they prepared to leave.
Aside from carrying their weapons, there was nothing else to prepare, so they left without any hesitation.
Zhang Li led the way while the remaining Wolf Fang Soldiers lined up behind him. Li Xiaofan carried the already conscious Liu Ziming on his back. Despite Liu Heping's madness, the results of the surgery were undeniable; at least for now, Liu Ziming's condition was critical due to the inadequate medical environment and lack of supplies!
Li Nan walked at the back with Han Guang just ahead of him.
Li Nan had managed to treat his back wound somewhat and then headed out without looking back.
Han Guang's pace slowed slightly, creating some distance between him and those in front.
Li Nan joked, "Are you tired or hungry? Your pace has definitely slowed down!"
Han Guang shrugged it off and seeing he had distanced himself from the others ahead, asked, "What exactly happened in the medicine storage room? You can't possibly not remember anything at all!"
Li Nan was stunned. "I really don't remember. Is there a problem?"
Han Guang straightened his face and asked clearly, "What do you think the big Iron Box in the storage room is for?"
"Oh, that? Liu Heping wanted to control Zombies through the experimental process, so it's normal for him to raise a group of Zombies. That big Iron Box serves that purpose!"
Upon hearing this, Han Guang asked again, "That big Iron Box has a lock on it. If it's not Liu Heping himself, I doubt anyone could open that box. So why did he release all the Zombies and then disappear without a trace?"
Li Nan was puzzled. "What are you trying to say?"
Han Guang said gravely, "Something strange must have happened in the storage room. For example, he might have created something even more terrifying than a Zombie during the experiment. That's why, in a moment of desperation, he opened that locked Iron Box containing the Zombies, not expecting that those dozen or so Zombies wouldn't be able to handle that thing, leading him to flee in panic and disappear!"
At this point, Li Nan suddenly broke out in a cold sweat. According to Han Guang, this could indeed explain the situation in the storage room. But if this assumption were true, then what could be that thing more terrifying than a Zombie?
Without needing to think too hard, it had to be Li Nan!
Li Nan was horrified. "How is that possible? I was attacked by a Zombie. Although I haven't turned yet, I'm still alive! How could I be what you say?"
Han Guang turned around and said firmly to Li Nan, "Don't you really notice anything unusual about your body?" As he spoke, Han Guang clenched his right fist and aimed it directly at Li Nan's nose.
Although Li Nan was surprised by Han Guang's action, he still drew back his left hand to block the incoming punch.
His palms opened wide and perfectly caught the punch coming toward him. With force behind it, Han Guang could already feel Li Nan's strength.
"Still saying your body hasn't changed?" Han Guang retorted, which made Li Nan shiver.
Indeed, Li Nan's body had changed; at least his strength had significantly increased. When he had gone underground before, he always claimed to be an absolute homebody—other than being somewhat smart, he was weak in physical strength and endurance; one could say he was as weak as a kitten. However, now Li Nan could actually catch Han Guang's punch and was even able to slightly overpower him.
Li Nan felt it was unbelievable. "How could this happen?"
Han Guang smiled and said, "You have too many questions. Although I don't know if this is something Liu Heping did to you, this kind of strength isn't necessarily a bad thing for you!"
At this moment, Li Nan, with his mind racing rapidly, couldn't find any reason to explain what was happening before him. However, one thing was certain: the chaos in the storage room must have been caused entirely by Li Nan.
Dozens of Zombies and several blunt drugs, accompanied by Liu Heping's insane ambitions and dreams, were all shattered by Li Nan alone. Although Li Nan himself was also confused, at least the outcome wasn't too bad, aside from being injured by a Zombie.
Li Nan felt relieved, saying, "It’s no use. When I turn into a Zombie, you must shoot me in the head at the first opportunity!"
Han Guang pulled away his fist that Li Nan had grabbed and tucked it behind him, shaking uncontrollably. "Damn it, that really hurts!"
Li Nan clenched his fist again, watching the veins rise on his arm, enjoying this primal power.
At that moment, Haizi shouted from ahead, "The elevator has started! Why are you two so slow?"
Li Nan responded, "Okay, we’ll be right there!"
The two of them started running and reached the Freight Elevator in just over ten seconds.
In the corridor, Li Nan was in front and Han Guang was behind. Watching the young man running ahead, Han Guang began to ponder quietly, "I don't know if this is good or bad; let's see what fate has in store!"
In the storage room, Han Guang clearly saw the gruesome state of the dozen Zombies. The raw power and ferocity displayed were simply beyond normal limits. Therefore, his assessment of Li Nan was that he was definitely an unstable time bomb! Carrying around a bomb that could explode at any moment was also quite insane. There’s a saying that one must become a demon to survive; perhaps that describes someone like Han Guang!
