Now, the peril faced by Li Nan and the others was no longer just about the six or seven Zombies; their own situation was also far from ideal!
Liu Ziming had been set aside by Li Nan, leaving him with no time to attend to him. Although the Zombie that attacked Mo Xiaohui had been dealt with, there were still five more behind her, and Mo Xiaohui's left foot was trapped under the door panel, creating a dire emergency!
Li Nan discarded the Fire Extinguisher in his hand and used all his strength to lift the door panel just enough to allow Mo Xiaohui to pull her foot out. However, with five Zombies charging at them, the weight made it incredibly difficult for Li Nan to hold up the door panel.
"Quick! Get your foot out!" Li Nan shouted repeatedly, while Mo Xiaohui looked anxious. "My calf feels like it's broken!"
Mo Xiaohui shifted her body, feeling a piercing pain, and her left leg was completely immobilized.
Li Nan frowned, continued to push with his shoulder, and then freed one hand to pull Mo Xiaohui's body.
After an immense effort, he finally managed to pull Mo Xiaohui out from under the door panel.
Mo Xiaohui gritted her teeth, clearly in severe pain. However, given the circumstances, Li Nan couldn't afford to be gentle; any delay could result in them becoming food for the Zombies!
"Can you move?" Li Nan asked with concern.
Mo Xiaohui shook her head, indicating that her condition was not much better than Liu Ziming's. Li Nan's brow furrowed; it seemed that escaping completely was no longer possible.
Liu Ziming was still positioned at the entrance of the examination room, and now Mo Xiaohui was injured as well. This was an additional burden for Li Nan!
There was no choice; after all, Li Nan had volunteered to lead these two in search of medical help. But at this critical moment, did he have time to consider such things?
Suddenly, a horrifying noise echoed, and Mo Xiaohui shouted in front of Li Nan: "Behind you! Behind you!"
Completely focused on saving Mo Xiaohui, Li Nan found it difficult to pay attention to the Zombies behind him. The five hungry Zombies would show no mercy; with a meal in sight, who wouldn't go wild?
Li Nan silently cursed his luck and picked up the Fire Extinguisher again. Without caring about aim, he threw it directly at one of the Zombies, which passed through its abdomen. However, that Zombie seemed unaffected and continued its frantic advance!
The Zombies were almost upon them when Li Nan suddenly dashed forward, scooping up half-sitting Mo Xiaohui and charging into the examination room. He then said to her: "Stay here and make sure to hold this small door shut while I lure the Zombies away..."
Mo Xiaohui was stunned. "Are you going to leave me behind?"
"No, the situation is critical, and there’s no time to explain. You also need to take care of Liu Ziming for a while!" After saying this, Li Nan moved Liu Ziming from the doorway into the room and closed the small door behind him.
In fact, the configuration of the examination room could not withstand the attack of the Zombies at all; it could only temporarily hide them. For Li Nan, this was already sufficient. Under the current circumstances, taking care of two burdens made it difficult for him to fend off these Zombies. Now, he needed to lure the Zombies away and then find a way out!
Li Nan shouted loudly, "You bastards! Come and get me!"
With a short sprint, Li Nan had already moved to another location. However, the few Zombies were clearly unfazed; they were still focused on the scent coming from the examination room. How could one Zombie compare to the temptation of two?
Li Nan had no choice but to pick up a Fire Extinguisher and throw it at the group of Zombies.
This time, Li Nan aimed carefully. As a Fire Extinguisher flew through the air, half of one Zombie's head was blown off. However, that Zombie did not die; it turned around with what remained of its head and glared angrily at Li Nan!
"Good, as long as they are attracted!" Li Nan was ready to face the wrath of that group of Zombies but was surprised to find that only two Zombies were chasing after him—one missing half its head and another with a large gash in its abdomen.
Three Zombies remained lingering at the doorway of the examination room, ignoring Li Nan's provocation. "What should I do?" Faced with the two approaching Zombies, Li Nan's instinct was to run away, but he couldn't leave three Zombies threatening Mo Xiaohui and Liu Ziming's lives. Therefore, he couldn't escape just yet.
As the two Zombies charged at him, Li Nan had no choice but to stand his ground. However, in terms of momentum, he clearly could not compete with these two foolish gluttons. The two Zombies were drooling and couldn't wait to dig into their feast!
Anger surged within him; he couldn't care much anymore. He wanted to showcase his flying kick skills from Beiyuan Square, but unfortunately, in a moment of distraction, as he jumped up, his pants got torn. At that moment, Li Nan felt a sharp pain between his legs!
"Damn it!" Before he could even curse silently, he found himself sprawled on the ground as those two Zombies rushed over. One of them had already grabbed his shoulder!
The gaping maw was closing in fast, and Li Nan couldn't afford to think about the pain in his groin anymore. He immediately attempted a traditional martial arts move to spring back up from the ground, but how could he pull off such techniques? He only tried to mimic what he had seen in movies and TV shows. Unfortunately, instead of rising smoothly, he nearly threw out his back!
Having just torn his pants and almost injured his back, Li Nan wanted to curse again. Was it really this hard to be a hero?
There was no time for further thought; one Zombie grabbed his leg while another pulled at his shoulder, ready to tear him apart for a feast. Li Nan felt frustrated inside: "Am I really going to die here today?"
A stubborn thought suddenly surged within him: I cannot die! Mo Xiaohui and Liu Ziming's safety is uncertain; how can I die? Zhang Li and Han Guang have high hopes for me; I cannot die before completing my mission! Gao Xue's fate is unknown; how can I die without seeing her again?
"I can't die..." A tremendous will to survive surged within Li Nan. He could not die; he bore the hopes of many on his shoulders. He could not let down Zhang Li, Han Guang, Liu Ziming, and Mo Xiaohui. He had to live, he had to overcome the Zombie Virus!
"Ah..." Li Nan shouted, and suddenly his hands and feet were filled with strength, a surge of energy coursing through him as if he had taken a stimulant. In the next moment, he swept his foot and knocked down a Zombie that had lost half its head. He then pulled another Zombie with a hollow belly, spinning it in mid-air for two and a half rotations before landing perfectly. If there were professional gymnastics judges present, that Zombie would surely score a 9.6!
Li Nan was furious. "You little pests, watch me take you out in an instant!" With a pose reminiscent of a meteor fist, he swung his fist and smashed the remaining half of the Zombie's head!
The Zombie swayed unsteadily, unwilling to fall. It hadn't even tasted the flesh of the little Zombies yet; how could it just die like this? Unfortunately, this wasn't Tokyo Ghoul; Zombies couldn't play the leading role!
Then another empty-bellied Zombie lunged at him. It was unclear whether this guy could still digest food after losing his duodenum, but he was indeed a typical tenacious Zombie. Regardless of whether he could digest it or not, he thought he would eat first!
Seeing this, Li Nan took the initiative and quickly decapitated the Zombie, stuffing its head into his own stomach. Now he could slowly enjoy it; not every Zombie could provide such self-sufficiency!
After dealing with these two Zombies, the next three were no challenge at all. This time Li Nan didn't want to attract them; instead, he directly eliminated them. When dealing with Zombies, violence must be met with violence!
In no time at all, the remaining Zombies were all finished off and lay on the ground as true corpses.
Li Nan looked at the scene with satisfaction. However, thirty seconds later, he began to feel that something was off. "Hey, how did I do that?"
