A sudden vibration was felt underfoot, causing Li Dapeng to stumble and nearly fall to the ground.
Mo Xiaohui, though startled, remained steady and quickly reached out a hand to brace Li Dapeng. At that moment, Li Nan also dashed forward.
The nearby truck shook violently, and Li Nan shouted, "Stop looking around and run!"
Mo Xiaohui was still confused, but the current situation clearly indicated an earthquake!
However, aside from the shaking near the truck, there was no tremor on the rest of the road. Could it be a localized earthquake?
Before Mo Xiaohui could think further, he noticed Li Nan frowning and exerting force behind Mo and Li, propelling them forward. In an instant, Li Nan pressed a Rebar Javelin against the side of the truck, which was clearly about to tip over.
Using the Rebar Javelin, Li Nan managed to buy some time. He then jumped back out of the truck's range just as it crashed down with a loud bang, toppling onto its side.
It was a terrifying scene, but Mo Xiaohui had no idea what had just happened!
Behind the overturned truck appeared a long, thick black leg resembling a utility pole—terrifying indeed!
Li Nan looked panicked and shouted, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and run!"
Mo Xiaohui thought they were encountering some kind of monster. After a moment of shock, he regained his composure and decided that escaping was the most important thing, regardless of what lay behind the truck.
Li Dapeng caught sight of that thick leg behind the truck and felt his heart race as Mo Xiaohui pulled him forward.
The monster behind the truck was clearly about to pounce. At this distance, could Mo Xiaohui and Li Dapeng possibly escape?
Li Nan had a huge question mark in his mind. Although he hadn't seen the monster clearly earlier, he sensed that they were in grave danger. Just considering that it had the strength to topple a truck weighing over twenty tons made it clear that they were no match for it!
The Rebar Javelin wedged under the truck shot out as it fell, but its elasticity meant it sustained no damage and landed directly in Li Nan's hands.
The monstrous leg had already stepped out from behind the truck, and at first glance, it seemed there was more than just one leg!
Li Nan felt a chill run down his spine but knew he had to protect Mo Xiaohui and Li Dapeng for now; he needed to buy them some time.
Li Nan gritted his teeth, holding the Rebar Javelin in one hand and swinging it with all his might. Although Li Nan had good aim, the opponent was even quicker. In an instant, a monster hidden behind the truck spat out a thick, sticky liquid that hit Mo Xiaohui squarely.
A massive glob of saliva fell from the sky and splattered directly onto Mo Xiaohui's face. In that moment, she seemed to be encased in resin like an insect, unable to move at all, while Li Dapeng stood by, dumbfounded.
Li Dapeng let out a strange cry, feeling as if the hand he held with Mo Xiaohui was stuck in the gooey substance, unable to break free.
The monster hiding behind the truck had avoided Li Nan's thrown Rebar Javelin and had not shown itself since, only spitting out another glob of extremely sticky saliva. After successfully hitting Mo Xiaohui, it targeted the astonished Li Dapeng with its next attack.
"Watch out!" Li Nan shouted clearly from the side. Li Dapeng had quick reflexes; as soon as he heard the warning, his body began to react.
Li Dapeng turned sharply and narrowly dodged the glob of saliva that came crashing down from above. When it hit the ground, it made a hissing sound as it corroded the surface!
It was clear that avoiding this situation was no longer an option!
Originally, when they advanced into Jiangbei City, Li Nan thought they would only have to deal with zombies. However, they were met with an unexpected attack right away, and most importantly, he still had no idea what kind of creature they were facing!
Since avoidance was no longer possible, they had to confront it head-on. No matter what kind of monster it was, once it provoked Li Nan, it wouldn't get off easily!
Mo Xiaohui stood frozen in place like a wax figure on the road, while Li Dapeng stood beside her, holding two Binding Hooks with anger boiling inside him.
The saliva that had fallen onto the road had caused a slight corrosive reaction. Although Li Nan didn't know much about chemical reactions, he understood some basics. If Mo Xiaohui remained in that sticky substance for too long, her life would surely be at risk. Therefore, he needed to get her out first!
Li Nan rolled on the ground and quickly reached the side of the truck. He pulled out the Rebar Javelin that was stuck in the ground and shouted, "Li Dapeng, go save Mo Xiaohui! I'll deal with that monster!"
With a powerful push from his ankles and wrists, Li Nan jumped onto the top of the truck that stood over three meters high. Looking down, he noticed dense webs swirling behind the truck, extending back over ten meters into a culvert.
"What on earth is this?" As Li Nan searched around without finding anything useful, he suddenly felt a chill at the back of his head!
Following the direction of those dense webs, he spotted several strands leading up to a streetlight by the roadside. The position of that streetlight was directly above him!
Cold sweat trickled down Li Nan's forehead as he trembled and turned around. Sure enough, he faced a massive face staring right back at him!
At that moment, Li Nan tightly gripped the Rebar Javelin in his hand. Although he felt a slight tremor of fear, he was always ready to strike; if he didn't succeed, he would perish!
A massive body hung upside down above the back of Li Nan's head, covered in fine black hairs. Its eight long legs were symmetrically arranged, and its large eyes were filled with countless facets, creating a truly terrifying sight!
Li Nan could hardly believe that the creature before him was a spider, yet its form and behavior left him no choice but to confirm that it was indeed an oversized spider, and extremely dangerous.
The Black-Furred Spider hung upside down on its silk, its jaws snapping together as if it was about to attack Li Nan!
Just as Li Nan was about to make his move, the Black-Furred Giant Spider had already extended its eight limbs, each adorned with white silk as thick as a pinky finger, clearly intending to wrap Li Nan up like a large dumpling!
Before Li Nan could wield the Rebar Javelin, a strand of spider silk had already stuck to his hand, and suddenly, the Rebar Javelin slipped from his grasp and fell beneath the vehicle.
For the first time, Li Nan felt a sense of helplessness. This feeling was something he had never experienced even while being chased by a horde of Zombies. Now he felt like a toy being effortlessly manipulated by the enormous Black-Furred Spider.
As a strand of silk wrapped around him, Li Nan attempted to struggle, but the resilience of the spider silk exceeded his imagination. Once it made contact, there was no chance of escape!
Just when Li Nan thought he was doomed, the Lamp Post towering above him suddenly swayed. The concrete at its base crumbled into small pieces, causing the tall Lamp Post to wobble precariously!
"It's too heavy; the Lamp Post can't take it!" Li Nan thought to himself.
The Black-Furred Spider clung to the lamp post, and as it swayed, the Giant Black Hairy Spider also became unstable and began to rock back and forth!
In an instant, Li Nan felt the spider's black hairs brushing against his face; he could almost sense the viscous liquid oozing from its jaws!
"That's disgusting!" Li Nan felt goosebumps all over his body. However, in the blink of an eye, the Black-Furred Spider swung away.
Although he could use the swaying motion to his advantage, this only increased the load on the Lamp Post. The already unstable pole could no longer bear any additional strain and immediately toppled over!
As the Lamp Post fell, the Black-Furred Spider crashed to the ground. The silk it had released from its rear couldn't support its weight and snapped in mid-air!
Freed from restraint, Li Nan quickly shook off the remaining strands of spider silk clinging to his hands and feet, feeling much more at ease.
On the road, Li Dapeng was using a Binding Hook to remove the slime from Mo Xiaohui. He had a clever idea and first made a small hole at Mo Xiaohui's nostrils to allow for ventilation.
Li Dapeng asked the slime-covered Mo Xiaohui, "Are you still alive?"
Mo Xiaohui couldn't open her mouth and could only slightly move her eyelids, indicating that things weren't that bad inside!
Seeing Mo Xiaohui respond, Li Dapeng quickened his pace. He needed to get Sister Mo out before the Ghosts caught up.
The thick slime on Mo Xiaohui resembled a mixture of solid and liquid. Although it kept dripping down, completely removing it was very difficult.
Li Dapeng used both hands, feeling as if he had gotten some on himself, which wasn't helping at all.
While Li Dapeng was struggling, a large Black-Furred Spider fell behind him. The spider quickly got up and seemed to shift its target from Li Nan to Li Dapeng. With a small twitch of its rear, it secreted a large amount of slime, moving forward directly into its mouth. After several movements of its upper and lower jaws, it spat out a glob of saliva-like spider silk aimed right at Li Dapeng!
At this moment, Li Nan had picked up the Rebar Javelin that had fallen on the ground. He threw it with a flick of his wrist directly towards the Black-Furred Spider's rear.
In front of the spider, the spider silk formed a near-arc curve heading straight for the little boy; behind the spider, a straight Spear traced a beautiful tail as it lunged towards a sticky black hole.
"Ugh..." Before the spider silk could hit its target, the Black-Furred Spider suddenly cried out in pain from its rear, causing the previously launched spider silk to become chaotic and fall to the ground!
