The entire Granary was on the verge of collapse under the impact of the giant snake. Just as Li Nan fell into the dust of the building, Brother Three led the other brothers rushing over.
The Granary swayed precariously, and Brother Three shouted to A Fei, "Hurry up, it's dangerous here!"
A Fei slung his Submachine Gun onto his back and charged directly into the ruins, while Lin Hai desperately ran over as well.
Both A Fei and Lin Hai aimed for Li Nan, who had fallen to the ground.
Brother Three shook his head and then turned to see Fatty wrapped in green paste nearby. He immediately shouted, "Get him out!"
Concrete blocks were falling from the ceiling, creating a very dangerous situation. Once A Fei and Lin Hai rushed in, they immediately began searching left and right.
Amidst the spreading dust, Li Nan raised an arm like Fatty who had fallen into a pit and coughed, "I'm not dead yet!"
Seeing this, Lin Hai was overjoyed and rushed over to support Li Nan. However, upon seeing that his head had turned into a bloody mess, he frowned deeply.
Li Nan smiled wryly and said, "It's just a small injury; it’s nothing... cough cough..."
Lin Hai helped Li Nan out, while Brother Three and the others waiting outside looked terrified.
Li Nan saw this and was speechless. "Brother Three, I'm still alive; there's no need to mourn for me in advance!"
Bitter Melon shifted his gaze to the right, and Li Nan noticed that behind Brother Three and the others stood the Leper Snake.
Goodness! Inside the Granary, this giant snake seemed enormous, but outside it looked more like a small dragon! Its body was about twenty to thirty meters long, coiling and twisting with a dark green hue. Underneath its scales, it gave off an impression of a steel dragon. On top of its head were two small growths that resembled tumors.
Li Nan wiped the blood from his face and declared boldly, "Brother Three, even if it is a living dragon, it's just a beast. We are living men; there's no need to be afraid of it!"
The Leprosy Head Snake seemed to be asserting its dominance over Li Nan and the others, letting out a roar that unleashed a foul stench, quite terrifying.
Li Nan rubbed his head, unfazed by the scene, and shouted, "Get your tail off my Brother Three!"
It turned out that the Mutant Snake was coiled up, with a tail as thick as a human leg resting right behind Brother Three.
The Mutant Snake naturally couldn't understand Li Nan's words, but it wasn't foolish; it knew how to approach the situation from another angle.
Li Nan noticed something was off with Brother Three; his eyes were becoming cloudy, and his facial expression seemed to be slackening.
Li Nan had never seen such a condition before. Could it be that this Mutant Snake had the ability to control minds?
Shaking his head, Li Nan immediately called out to the brothers around Brother Three, "Everyone spread out, arm yourselves. The situation doesn't look good; get ready to fight!"
The Long-Faced Man seemed doubtful. "We need to ensure Brother Three's safety!"
Li Nan smiled wryly. "Forget about Brother Three; if this goes poorly, all ten of us might end up in trouble!"
The Long-Faced Man and Long-Haired Man had already set up two machine guns, while Bitter Melon moved closer to Li Nan and said quietly, "That snake's tail is suspicious. When we came out of the warehouse earlier, we encountered this snake that had escaped, and it seems like it's using its tail to control Brother Three, which is why we dare not act recklessly!"
From Li Nan's position, he could clearly see the Leprosy Head Snake's tail pressing against Brother Three's back, and the snake's tail appeared to be vibrating continuously, resembling a large vibrating rod.
Li Nan softly asked Bitter Melon, "Can you identify the species of this Leprosy Head Snake? I don't recall any snake having the ability to control minds!"
Bitter Melon shook his head. "I have no idea. However, looking at that Mutant Snake's tail, it seems similar to a Rattlesnake. But Rattlesnakes only use their tail vibrations to produce sounds that attract lizards and other animals; that's far from mind control!"
At this moment, Li Nan smiled and said, "You have already revealed the answer. The Rattlesnake indeed has the ability to confuse its prey, and that ability has completely mutated in the apocalypse, or rather, after consuming Zombie flesh. A regular Rattlesnake cannot grow this large, so it is not surprising that the abilities of a regular Rattlesnake can charm people's hearts after its body has been magnified countless times!"
Bitter Melon nodded, "That's true, but how can we rescue Brother Three? We still have no way!"
Li Nan replied with a smile, "Start from the tail of that vibrating rod; you definitely need to make contact with the tail to control it, so..."
Just as Li Nan was speaking to Bitter Melon, Brother Three, who was standing in front of the Leprosy Head Snake, suddenly unloaded the Submachine Gun he had been carrying on his shoulder and gripped it with both hands, aiming the gun directly at Li Nan.
In the tense standoff between the group and the large snake, Fatty, who had been left on the ground, surprisingly crawled out from the dark green viscous substance.
Li Nan glanced at the crawling Fatty and said to Bitter Melon, "Go check if that Fatty is still alive or has turned into a Zombie."
Li Nan turned his head to look at the large snake behind Brother Three and laughed, "Such despicable tactics are beneath even ordinary thugs. If you have guts, step forward; I have no problem with a one-on-one duel!"
The rotting flesh on the neck of the Leprosy Head Snake had congealed into scabs, and its forked tongue was only half of what it used to be. Given such deep-seated hatred, even between humans, it would lead to extreme rage. The Leprosy Head Snake was a creature lower than humans; seeking revenge was its most basic instinct!
The tail of the Mutant Snake vibrated violently behind Brother Three while he raised his Submachine Gun, aiming it at Li Nan's forehead.
Li Nan maintained his smile. "Even if a puppet kills me, it's not something a good snake would do. Also, Brother Three, do you really want to kill me?"
Brother Three's eyes were filled with white; he had lost control of his senses and could not hear Li Nan's words. Li Nan continued with a grin, "Brother Nan owes me a life; this time I guess he will owe Fatty one too!"
As he spoke, two gunshots rang out. One shot came from Brother Three's hand aimed at Li Nan, while the other shot was fired by Fatty, who had just crawled out from a pile of viscous substance, targeting the snake tail behind Brother Three.
Brother Three's shooting skills were decent; however, under the influence of his uncontrolled mind, his aim left much to be desired. Meanwhile, Li Nan jumped up and pulled out a Compound Bow from behind him, swiftly shooting two Feathered Arrows that flew through Brother Three's legs.
Although Fatty had just groggily woken up, being a sniper by trade, his aim was impeccable. He immediately fired a bullet that struck the snake's tail directly.
The snake's tail was covered with a layer of small scales, so Fatty's bullet did not penetrate. However, the force of the bullet caused the tail to shift away from Brother Three's back. At that moment, Li Nan shot two Feathered Arrows that pierced the snake's tail into the ground.
The two Feathered Arrows crossed each other, embedding themselves several inches deep into the earth. The trapped snake tail found itself unable to move for the time being.
"Brother Three, Brother Three..." Li Nan shouted, and after the snake's tail moved away, Brother Three suddenly collapsed to the ground.
"Now's our chance! Switch to large-caliber bullets and take it down!" Li Nan jumped out and pulled Brother Three back.
The nine men present, aside from Brother Three, were all armed with heavy firearms. In an instant, bullets flew everywhere; even against a tank, they could have caused significant damage. After a cloud of smoke rose, however, the Leprosy Head Snake had vanished without a trace.
Li Nan called for a ceasefire and looked at Brother Three, who had regained his composure.
Seeing the scene before him, Brother Three asked in confusion, "What happened? What’s going on?"
Li Nan smiled wryly and replied, "It's hard to explain right now, but we’ve definitely crossed paths with that Mutant Snake!"
Outside the Granary, the ground was littered with bullet casings, and in the center lay a large hole.
Li Nan exclaimed in surprise, "It burrowed underground! But given that snake's nature, it won't give up easily. We can't let our guard down!"
At the opening of the hole in the ground, Li Nan noticed some bloodstains. "What's going on? Isn't that big snake supposed to be invulnerable? How can it bleed?"
Shaking his head, Li Nan rushed back into the Granary. Taking advantage of the space that hadn’t completely collapsed yet, he found the original hole where the big snake had appeared. After digging for a moment, he laughed and said, "So that's how it is!"
Lin Hai followed Li Nan closely, fearing any unexpected incidents. He asked Li Nan, "What did you find?"
Li Nan smiled broadly, "You can see for yourself what's down there!"
Lin Hai leaned into the opening and was surprised to discover numerous Snake Scales, along with large pieces of what appeared to be Snake Skin.
Lin Hai seemed to realize something, "The snake is shedding its skin?"
Li Nan nodded, "This explains why I was able to find so many Snake Scales earlier, as well as why that snake has grown twice its size. It is shedding its skin, and snakes generally shed a layer of skin to grow larger!"
Lin Hai hesitated, "But during the shedding phase, the snake should be at its most vulnerable. Why could that snake's Snake Skin still withstand bullets?"
"That's true. A snake is indeed most vulnerable when shedding its skin. However, our assumption might be off; that snake could have shed its skin in two stages due to its large size. Previously, on the other side of the Granary, I found an enormous piece of shed Snake Skin. This means that the snake first shed the skin from its upper body and then from its lower body. That's why when we encountered it earlier, it only used its upper body to confront us; its upper body had already been shedding for some time and had tough scales, while its lower body was still in the early stages of shedding and was quite weak!"
Now Lin Hai understood, "So when the snake was outside, it didn't confront us directly but controlled Brother Three instead because it knew it couldn't take a hit!"
Li Nan smiled broadly, "Exactly! That's also why there were bloodstains in the cave it used to escape; it must have been injured!"
