Mouse stood on the rooftop of an abandoned building, looking troubled, while Li Nan beside him said, "How about we split up? One group can distract the Zombie Legion, and the other can deal with that tank. What do you think?"
Mouse nodded, seemingly in agreement with Li Nan's idea. However, after a moment, he hesitated and said, "But who will lure the enemies away, and who will handle the tank?"
Li Nan grinned mischievously, "Well... this is a bit tricky..."
Li Nan understood Mouse's intentions and knew that trying to avoid the issue was not going to be easy.
With a change of expression, Li Nan said, "This is simple. I, Li Nan, am young and strong, so I'll go lure the enemies!"
Upon hearing this, Mouse felt relieved but pretended to hide his emotions by saying, "That's too dangerous! How can we let Brother Nan put himself at risk?"
Li Nan recognized Mouse's feigned concern and quickly turned the conversation around. "Then it should be Brother Mouse who lures the enemies!"
Mouse immediately cleared his throat and leaned on his waist, awkwardly saying, "Ah! I'm not in good shape for this... uh..."
Li Nan chuckled softly. "Just kidding! I'll go lure the enemies after all, but I need to take a few brothers with me!"
Mouse turned to see the remaining three people—two were under Brother Three's command, and one was a new recruit of Li Nan's. He wouldn't leave them behind for himself!
Mouse asked, "How many people does Brother Nan want to take?"
Li Nan smiled. "As Han Xin said about deploying troops, the more the better!"
Mouse felt uneasy; if Li Nan took all the manpower away, he would be left alone.
He glanced around nervously. Originally, he wanted to bring a few trusted allies for this private job but feared that making too much noise would attract Brother Long's attention. That's why he came alone. The only reason he dared to take such risks was because he relied on Li Nan. However, given the situation now, splitting up was unavoidable!
"Alright! This time I'll trouble Brother Nan!" Mouse said with apparent concern.
Li Nan shrugged it off. "We'll head down from that building over there. Once we get close to the Zombie Legion, we'll fire a few shots quietly. Those zombies will definitely come running at the sound. At that point, my brothers and I will rush out and try to get back to that SUV at the intersection ahead; after we make our move, you wait for your chance and head down below!"
Mouse nodded. "Let's go with Brother Nan's plan!"
Li Nan turned around and pulled Lin Hai, Bitter Melon, and Fatty close, then said, "Let's go down and pave the way for Brother Mouse!"
Lin Hai and the others nodded and immediately followed Li Nan, jumping over to the building across.
Suddenly, Mouse felt something was off. Looking around, he noticed that the building Li Nan and the others had jumped to was marked with "Medical Research Center."
Mouse muttered to himself, "Oh no, I can't believe I've been tricked!"

Li Nan jumped onto the building across and quickly turned to go downstairs. He waved his hand at the brothers behind him and said, "Hurry down! I remember the Serum Research Institute should be on the third floor. Let's move!"
Fatty hurriedly followed Li Nan and asked, "What about that old Mouse? Just leave him there?"
Li Nan smiled, "Are we supposed to bring that guy back to retire?"
Fatty nodded, "I've never liked that Mouse. This time, we should take him out for good!"
Bitter Melon, who had been silent with a stern face, suddenly spoke up, "That Mouse is no fool; he might see through Brother Nan's plan!"
Li Nan still smiled, "Even if he sees through it, what can he do? The fact that he dared to come out alone is his biggest mistake. Taking him out is a good thing; I'm just worried he might not be strong enough to handle it!"
Li Nan called out to the people behind him, "Right now, we can't worry about that Mouse; our mission is the most important!"
Fatty agreed and clattered down the stairs.
This building, which stood opposite Jiangbei Hospital, was grandly named Medical Research Center. In reality, it was originally a charity organization funded by a foreigner. However, due to severe cultural mismatches in China later on, it transformed from a charity into a profit-making institution. The Serum Research Institute within it had a vial of Snake Venom Antidote that could fetch around one hundred thousand or even a million. After all, being bitten by a snake is life-threatening; without money, one could die easily. In the mainland system, this was not uncommon!
After going downstairs, they found themselves surrounded by walls painted white and various designated areas. It seemed that this Medical Research Center used to be quite lively!
The building had twelve floors, and it took only two or three minutes to reach the third floor. However, during the descent, Li Nan felt an eerie atmosphere in this building that reminded him of the Underground Morgue at Jiangbei Hospital!
Li Nan deliberately slowed his pace and said to the person behind him, "Be careful, something might happen!"
Fatty looked around, finding the corridor empty. Although it felt a bit eerie, there shouldn't be any major issues. After all, even if a dozen Zombies rushed out from this small corridor, they would not be a threat, and the four of them could handle it. So Fatty thought Li Nan was being overly cautious.
"It's nothing! If there's any problem, I'll take care of it myself. We should hurry down to find the Snake Venom Antidote!"
Li Nan didn't continue the conversation; he simply drew the Vigo Knife from behind his waist, just in case!
As they reached the Ninth Floor, Li Nan's unease grew stronger. He always felt as if strange eyes were watching him from behind. However, when he turned around, there was nothing but Fatty and the others.
Bitter Melon noticed Li Nan's unusual behavior and leaned in to whisper in his ear, "Something's off in this building; there must be a problem. For now, we shouldn't rush down."
Li Nan shook his head. "No! The Snake Venom Antidote is below; we can't give up. Even though there's something strange here, it would take some effort to trap us four! Let's keep moving down!"
Bitter Melon had already pulled out his Submachine Gun, staying alert, while Fatty laughed and said, "You're always the most cautious; I don't know what you're being cautious about!"
Bitter Melon retorted, "With your clumsiness, I don't know how you've survived this long!"
Fatty grinned widely. "I'm lucky; even after being swallowed by that Mutant Snake, I still managed to survive!"
Bitter Melon could only smile wryly and turned to Lin Hai at the back, saying, "Better safe than sorry!"
Lin Hai nodded, his firearm ready in hand.
The further they went down, the darker the corridor became due to the lack of lighting and sunlight not reaching inside. By the time they reached the Ninth Floor, the path below was mostly hidden in darkness.
Li Nan took out his Wolf Eye Flashlight and pressed the switch. As he waved it around, he suddenly heard a sound above him!
Although it was very faint, Li Nan still sensed it. When he directed the flashlight upwards, he saw nothing on the floor!
"What’s going on?" Li Nan muttered under his breath and began sweeping the flashlight left and right but found nothing at all.
At that moment, Bitter Melon said to Li Nan, "There's something wrong with the ceiling!"
Hearing this, Li Nan shone his flashlight up at the ceiling, but he didn't see anything unusual.
Bitter Melon pointed at the ceiling and said, "How could there be water stains up there?"
Fatty also noticed the sticky water stains, which covered an area of about five or six square meters.
Earlier, Li Nan hadn't paid attention to those water stains, but now that he thought about it, they were quite concerning!
Fatty clicked his tongue and said, "Is there a leak in the water pipes above?"
Li Nan waved his hand. "It can't be that simple!"
Lin Hai also sensed something strange. He jumped up over two meters high and wiped a streak of the substance onto his finger.
Looking at the sticky substance on his finger, Lin Hai frowned and said, "It's not water; it looks more like some kind of bodily fluid!"
Li Nan grinned and said, "Indeed, this building is not peaceful. It seems we've been targeted by something!"
Fatty found it hard to believe. "What could possibly be lurking on the ceiling and leave behind such a puddle of sticky bodily fluid?"
Li Nan waved his hand again. "This is bad! We need to run upstairs quickly!"
As he spoke, a trash can suddenly came crashing down from the darkness hidden below the stairwell!
Fatty reacted quickly, drawing his firearm from his back. Without aiming, he fired a quick shot. Fortunately, being a former sniper, he had good instincts and managed to deflect the flying trash can!
However, right after the trash can, a long stick shot out directly towards Li Nan and the others!
Li Nan was startled and tried to block it with his hand. To his surprise, as the stick approached him, it suddenly curved. That was no ordinary stick; it was clearly a Long Tongue!
"Wow! What kind of monster is this?" Fatty exclaimed, ready to charge forward. However, the Long Tongue that was wrapped around Li Nan's arms suddenly split into several branches from its tip, coming straight for him!
Fatty swung his gun, striking the Long Tongue, but it was incredibly soft and immediately adhered to the gun barrel, then coiled around Fatty's arm. Following that, the Long Tongue pulled back, causing both Li Nan and Fatty to lean forward and move into the darkness below.
Fatty's eyes widened in anger as he muttered under his breath, "Damn it, damn it..."
Beside Fatty, Li Nan had already exerted force with his legs and used the joints of his body to firmly grip the steps in the corridor, clearly engaged in a tug-of-war!
The Long Tongue on Li Nan's hands seemed to sense his strength and realized it couldn't win in a direct confrontation. It quickly climbed up Li Nan's neck and began to constrict tightly, trying to suffocate him!
The Long Tongue gradually tightened its grip, and Li Nan's face turned a dark purple; he probably wouldn't last a minute.
Noticing that Li Nan was about to suffocate, Fatty felt anxious and tried to struggle free. However, despite his large frame, he lacked the strength advantage and soon realized he couldn't escape from the Long Tongue!
Fatty frowned in frustration and shouted, "Bitter Melon, Lin Hai, hurry up and help! Are you just going to watch us die here?"
Fatty didn't hear any response from behind and assumed those two had fled. However, when he glanced back, he saw that Bitter Melon and Lin Hai were also caught in the same predicament!
