After a fierce gunfight, outside the laboratory, the true form of the Toad had already emerged. Its enormous mouth, with thick upper and lower lips, was constantly gnashing together, while the remaining half of its tongue had been completely retracted into its mouth.
Seeing this, Li Nan immediately aimed his Wolf Eye Flashlight at the Toad. However, the creature swiftly moved, leaping directly from the doorway to the back of the room.
Li Nan was astonished by the Toad's incredible jumping ability. In an instant, the Toad puffed up its mouth, its two eyes, the size of cow eggs, glaring out as if they were bloodshot.
Fatty wanted to take action, but several bullets he fired were all dodged by the massive creature.
In the dim light of the Wolf Eye Flashlight, Li Nan saw a massive figure rising. Lin Hai beside him was also dumbfounded, muttering to himself, "How could this happen?"
The Toad standing behind Li Nan and the others suddenly expanded in size as if it were a balloon that had been blown up. Its body visibly swelled at an alarming rate.
"What on earth is happening?" Li Nan couldn't help but exclaim as he noticed changes in the Toad's eyes.
The Toad closed its mouth, its cheeks bulging as if it had compressed a lot of air inside. Then it resembled an enraged Green Giant, its form rapidly enlarging even more while its round throat writhed incessantly.
Li Nan wanted to use the Wolf Eye Flashlight to force the Toad into submission but was shocked to discover that a layer of mucus-like membrane had enveloped its eyeballs, similar to a corneal membrane, tightly covering its cow egg-sized eyes. Clearly, it had now subjectively shielded its own vision.
"Damn it!" Li Nan cursed loudly and then noticed the creature's throbbing throat. He immediately shouted, "Run! There's something wrong..."
Before Li Nan could finish his warning, the Toad's massive mouth suddenly opened wide, and in an instant, a gigantic bubble burst forth from its mouth at high speed.
Fatty caught sight of that strange bubble and exclaimed, "Damn it! This guy has a mouth cannon too!"
The bubble was about the size of a car tire and shot towards Li Nan and the others at breakneck speed.
As the bubble approached rapidly, Fatty showcased his remarkable shooting skills once again. However, sensing that things were going awry, Li Nan shouted at Fatty, "Don't shoot! Run!"
Just as Li Nan spoke, Fatty's finger had already pulled the trigger. With a loud bang, a bullet flew out and struck the bubble directly.
At that moment, Li Nan couldn't help but frown, "That Fatty!"
The bullet pierced through the mouthpiece and flew out, hitting the wall on the other side. A layer of bubble-like substance surrounding the mouthpiece immediately burst apart like a bomb after being penetrated by the bullet. However, unlike the high-pressure air that bursts from a bomb, a large splash of green goo erupted from within the mouthpiece, splattering everywhere!
Fatty held his gun in one hand while supporting Bitter Melon with the other. In an instant, the two of them were like they had fallen into a quagmire, completely enveloped by the green goo.
Fatty shook the gun barrel and cursed loudly, while at the same time, the Toad charged over like an angry bull!
Li Nan wiped off the goo on his face and grimaced, "This is so disgusting!"
Seeing that big fellow rushing over, Li Nan immediately wanted to confront it. However, when he tried to move, he found that his legs were not cooperating!
Li Nan struggled to move his feet, feeling as if they were locked down by heavy weights. When he looked down, he saw nothing but a puddle of Green Slime around his legs.
Li Nan quickly understood what was happening, "This thing actually has adhesive properties!"
He pulled out the Vigo Knife, intending to cut through his pants and shoes. However, the Toad was evidently faster; its large, warty head was already approaching!
Just as Li Nan was in shock, Lin Hai had already opened fire to provide support!
Faced with the AK-47 bullets so close at hand, Li Nan felt a surge of fear. The situation had changed too quickly; just moments ago they were in an advantageous position, and now they were suddenly on the defensive?
Before Li Nan could think further, the Toad was forced back by Lin Hai's gunfire and couldn't get close to him. In an instant, Li Nan went barefoot into battle, tossing aside his Compound Bow and using the Vigo Knife as his weapon!
In fact, Fatty's situation was even worse than Li Nan's; he was practically covered in Green Slime and found it difficult to even move!
Seeing Li Nan's plan to escape by cutting his shoes and pants, Fatty managed to wiggle out from his clothes despite his bulk.
Seeing Fatty with his shirt off, Li Nan let out a bitter laugh, "Do you think shedding a layer of skin will increase your combat power?"
Fatty shook his excess fat and replied, "I can't say it will increase my combat power, but in today's life-or-death situation, I Fatty can't afford to hold back!"
The approaching Toad naturally wouldn't give Li Nan and Fatty much time to chat. With a shake of its large head, it charged forward and came crashing down with a powerful blow.
On the other side, Lin Hai refrained from firing his AK-47 due to the risk of hitting Li Nan and the others.
Seeing this, Li Nan turned to Fatty and said, "Now's the perfect time; watch me take down this giant creature today!"
Fatty was unsure where Li Nan got his confidence from, but since the words were out, he could only respond, "I'll trust you this once!"
As Toad came crashing down, Li Nan also sprang up from the ground, leaping as high as the Toad.
Although Toad had closed its eyes, it still had its sensory system, so it clearly sensed Li Nan's movements.
Watching Li Nan about to collide with the Toad in mid-air, Fatty was momentarily speechless. "Can this really work?"
Just as Fatty was preparing for a shock, it seemed that the Toad accepted Li Nan's challenge. With a powerful leap from its strong hind legs, the Toad soared higher than Li Nan, ready to crush him beneath its weight.
Not willing to back down, Li Nan tightened his core and jumped higher as well.
At that moment, the large head of the Toad suddenly slammed into the ceiling. However, it was clear that the building's structure was weak as tofu; it instantly gave way under the force of the Toad, propelling it up to the ninth floor!
Following closely behind, Li Nan, amidst falling debris from the building, also shot up to the ninth floor. Meanwhile, worried about Li Nan's safety, Fatty attempted to jump up as well but found it difficult due to his bulk after several tries.
After failing to make it up, Fatty, holding his submachine gun, scanned left and right but saw no sign of the two. The sounds of movement above were quite loud as they moved from left to right and then back again. Yet, despite his anxiousness, Fatty couldn't see anything at all!
At that moment, Lin Hai shouted, "Hurry! Let's go up the stairs outside!"
Fatty thought it made sense and was about to step forward, but then he remembered Bitter Melon!
Just as Fatty hesitated, Li Nan suddenly jumped out from the hole in the floor and shouted to Fatty and Lin Hai, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and go!"
Fatty looked at Li Nan in surprise and asked, "Did you kill that guy?"
Li Nan glanced back at the rooftop and thought to himself, "That guy is really slippery; it's not that easy to take him down. But now we have a chance to escape, so why not hurry?"
Fatty agreed and immediately picked up the half-conscious Bitter Melon, carrying him on his back, then quickly walked away.
They went straight down the hallway, with Lin Hai leading the way, followed by Fatty, and Li Nan bringing up the rear. They had just fought fiercely on the Ninth Floor. Although Li Nan's powerful strikes had severely injured the Toad, it would still take considerable effort to finish it off completely. Li Nan wanted to buy time for their side, so he was unwilling to get entangled with it any longer!
This building was quite strange and full of dangers; it was hard to manage. Therefore, Li Nan and the others needed to speed up their movements. Just dealing with this one Toad had already given them a headache; if the remaining Mutated Monsters came rushing at them together, they would be doomed!
Li Nan muttered under his breath, praying for a few more chances from heaven!
Fatty shouted back at Bitter Melon, "Make some noise! If you don't respond soon, I'll assume you're dead and just leave you here!"
Not hearing a response from Bitter Melon, Fatty frowned. However, moments later, his expression brightened again!
He heard Bitter Melon lightly cough and say, "My life is tougher than yours; even if you die, I won't!"
Fatty laughed and replied, "Whether your life is tough or not is not for you to decide!"
Li Nan leaned over to check on Bitter Melon, who chuckled softly, "A few ribs are broken, but my lungs are fine. I'm not dying!"
Li Nan hesitated and asked, "Are you studying medicine?"
Bitter Melon smiled wryly, "I was a military doctor before, so my physical strength is a bit lacking. I didn't expect to be dragging everyone down at this moment!"
Li Nan was a bit surprised, "You were a military doctor? Then Brother Three must also have a military background. Could it be that Fatty does too?"
Fatty shook his head, "Do you believe me if I say I was originally in the cooking team?"
Bitter Melon managed a difficult smile, "This Fatty just loves to joke..."
Before Bitter Melon could finish his sentence, a loud "boom" suddenly came from behind, as if some massive creature had broken through the wall!
Li Nan, who was at the back, sensed the terrifying situation and immediately shouted, "Hurry to the third floor! The Snake Venom Antidote is the most important thing; we can't afford any more complications!"
Fatty tentatively asked, "Is that thing related to that Toad?"
Li Nan shook his head, "I don't know either, but it's definitely not something good!"
Everyone realized the hidden danger lurking in the shadows, so they quickened their pace. They needed to seize the opportunity before all sorts of monsters appeared!
