Li Nan looked at the already chaotic scene downstairs and shook his head secretly. Behind him, the Long-Faced Man trembled and said, "Brother Nan, I have already made my position clear. You should believe me..."
Li Nan waved his hand, "Don't say that anymore. Come with me downstairs!"
The Long-Faced Man complied and immediately followed Bitter Melon and A Fei down.
In the hall, Fatty approached a few injured men and shouted, "So, do you still want to rebel?"
The four men all replied firmly, "In victory or defeat, whether to kill or to dismember, we leave it to your discretion!"
Fatty chuckled in surprise, "Wow, you guys have quite the spirit. Do you want me to show you some real strength?"
Li Nan shouted, "What other strength do you have left to show?"
Fatty turned around and saw it was Li Nan. He laughed, "These little brats are refusing to drink the wine offered to them and are asking for punishment instead. They really need to be taught a lesson!"
Li Nan kicked away the body of Dog Brother lying on the ground and said to Fatty, "Forget it. These four men have some backbone. Let them go. Today’s matter will not be held against them!"
Fatty was taken aback. "How can that be? That dead dog was instigated by someone to poison Brother Three. Such a great hatred! If we don't kill them all, how can we face Brother Three?"
Li Nan questioned, "Was it really that dead dog who poisoned him?"
Fatty was astonished. "Wasn't it?"
Li Nan shook his head and called out to the remaining brothers around him, "I know many of you do not accept me and think that I, Li Nan, am a newcomer. How can I take over Brother Three's legacy just a few days after arriving at the camp? Do you think I am just a pretty face?"
The dozen or so brothers standing around the hall all lowered their heads in silence. However, judging from Dog Brother's earlier incitement of emotions, this group still did not fully recognize Li Nan.
Li Nan smiled and said, "That's normal. When I got to know Brother Three, Fatty and the others were present. At that time, I stole Brother Three's truck, and then we encountered a horde of zombies chasing us. After going through many dangers, we managed to escape by luck. Brother Three was poisoned, and I believe you all can guess who might be responsible. The culprits are likely just a few individuals, and whether Dog Brother is among them remains uncertain. However, I, Li Nan, want to make it clear that I will avenge Brother Three and bring the mastermind to justice. It would not be excessive to punish them severely. Before this incident, Brother Three entrusted all of you to me. At that time, I did not refuse. Since Brother Three had faith in me, I must take on the responsibility of a man. The lives and well-being of over ten men are now my burden. If anyone respects me, please stay; if anyone thinks I am speaking nonsense, feel free to leave and seek someone else. I will not stop you!
Having said that, Li Nan turned to Fatty and said, "Let those four go. Anyone who wants to leave can step out of this Small Building now. If we meet again, I will still consider you as brothers!"
The people in the hall hesitated, but one person shouted, "When we were in prison, I followed Brother Three around. Now that Brother Three is gone, I don't want to leave; I'm staying with Nan Ge!"
Others began to waver as well, and soon another voice called out, "I also want to stay with Nan Ge!"
Everyone in the camp understood the situation well. Among the three big brothers, Brother Three was the most generous and treated his brothers the best. Most of those gathered under him sought stability. Although Brother Three was gone, his position remained intact; Nan Ge had taken his place and still held power in the camp. Leaving him now would likely lead to worse outcomes elsewhere.
The camp was not large enough for anyone to truly think they could form their own group outside as Dog Brother suggested; that was a foolish idea. In this apocalypse, creating something is far more difficult than destroying it! Moreover, Dog Brother had already turned against them and had become a dead dog with no hope of redemption.
After half a minute, all ten or so people in the hall raised their hands to stay, while the four injured men stubbornly attempted to leave.
Li Nan immediately called out, "Hold on!"
The four men turned back and asked, "What? Are you changing your mind now? You don't want us to leave?"
Li Nan smiled and replied, "You’re injured; rest up before you go!"
The four men were left speechless, completely confused about what kind of person Li Nan really was. Just moments ago he seemed like a powerful figure in the underworld; now he was acting like a good Samaritan.
Li Nan looked at the body lying on the ground and pointed at it, saying, "Let's put aside the cause of Brother Three's death for now. Dog Brother died foolishly. If he had any ambition, he shouldn't have disturbed Brother Three on the day of his misfortune."
Upon hearing this, Fatty was quite surprised. "So it wasn't Long-Haired Dog who poisoned him?"
Li Nan ignored Fatty's question and simply waved his hand. "Clean this place up. Get rid of Long-Haired Dog's body and that A-Zhi's body too. Tomorrow I want to send Brother Three off with some flair."
The remaining brothers agreed while Fatty wanted to say something more but was stopped by Li Nan. "Let’s hold off for now; I'm a bit tired and need some rest."
At that moment, everyone in Small Buildings dispersed while several brothers quickly tidied up the hall—removing broken furniture and covering up bullet holes in the walls as well as cleaning up any traces of blood from the deceased. Meanwhile, Li Nan went upstairs alone.
Bitter Melon pulled Fatty aside and said, "Let’s give Nan Ge some time to rest; you and I should head out first!"
Fatty was momentarily speechless, then shook his head and rushed out, secretly thinking, "If Brother Nan had said earlier that Long-Haired Dog wasn't the poisoner, would I have gone so far as to kill him?"
Bitter Melon chuckled bitterly to himself, "Brother Nan wants to establish his authority, so it's unfortunate for Long-Haired Dog; he walked right into the line of fire. Do you think he could escape death?"
However, Bitter Melon didn't voice this thought. Instead, he grabbed Fatty and said, "Go prepare a burial outfit; we need to send Brother Three off properly tomorrow!"
"Ouch, my ribs haven't healed yet; it hurts so much!" Bitter Melon kept groaning, while Fatty dismissed it, saying, "It's just a few broken ribs; you won't die from that!"

The gunshots in the hall had already reached the ears of the women upstairs, but they had not ventured out. It wasn't until the gunfire ceased that Mo Xiaohui finally peeked out.
Seeing Li Nan ascend the stairs alone in solitude, she approached him and advised, "Don't burden yourself too much over Brother Three's death!"
Li Nan waved her off and continued up alone. Mo Xiaohui observed that everything seemed normal in the hall below and couldn't help but smile wryly, "I wonder how much more fear and anxiety I will have to endure in the future!"

Upon seeing Mo Xiaohui, Li Nan asked, "What are you doing here?"
Mo Xiaohui held out a piece of clothing and draped it over Li Nan's shoulders. "The weather is getting cooler; I was worried you'd catch a cold!"
Li Nan smiled and said, "You're still the best to me!"
From behind him, Mo Xiaohui wrapped her arms around his back and softly said, "I don't know what you're doing or what you're thinking, but I genuinely care about your safety. Please don't take any more risks!"
Li Nan held Mo Xiaohui's hand and chuckled softly, "Silly girl, if I don't take risks, how can you and Li Da Peng live a carefree life? I'm doing this for you both!"
Mo Xiaohui couldn't help but tear up, "I don't want a stable life; I only want you, just you by my side!"
"Alright!" Li Nan turned to embrace Mo Xiaohui from behind and said, "Today is all about spending time with you; I won't care about anything else!"
Mo Xiaohui smiled through her tears, "You better not be lying!"
Li Nan nodded and casually asked, "Were you the only one busy in the kitchen today? You made such a big pot of Rice Porridge!"
Mo Xiaohui shook her head, "Xin Qiqi helped me today!"
Li Nan smiled knowingly and then turned to Mo Xiaohui, saying, "So much has happened today; right now, all I want is to lie beside you and have a peaceful sleep!"
Mo Xiaohui's face turned crimson as she softly replied, "Isn't that inappropriate? Brother Three hasn't been buried yet..."
Li Nan gently brushed his hands across Mo Xiaohui's face, "You mischievous girl, always thinking about random things. I just want to sleep peacefully with you by my side; it makes me feel more at ease!"
