Xin Yi was driving while chatting with Shu Rui. The car moved slowly along the highway, creating a warm and natural atmosphere. It was late at night, and there were hardly any cars on the road. The nightlife in Longchuan was not particularly vibrant, especially since this stretch of road was close to the suburban train station, making it even quieter.
With no other vehicles around, the headlights illuminated the road ahead for quite a distance. Suddenly, Xin Yi spotted a group of people ahead. To be precise, it was a group of armed individuals surrounding a single person. As they got closer, Xin Yi could see that they were encircling an exceptionally tall and muscular man. Why did he seem exceptionally large? Just by looking, Xin Yi could tell that the man was at least two meters tall. Although he was dressed, one could still see the bulging muscles beneath his clothing. He stood there like a wall or perhaps a steel tower. Xin Yi had seen many tall Black men before, but compared to this giant, those he had seen previously seemed petite. Shu Rui was also taken aback and covered her mouth as she exclaimed, "Wow! There are actually people this big in the world?" Note how Shu Rui chose the word "big" rather than "tall" or "strong." The giant truly deserved to be called big; his massive head was about the size of a small hot pot, and his fist was larger than a soup bowl. For a slender girl, it seemed that his large hand could easily wrap around her waist.
This observation was not unfounded because the giant was currently holding someone in his hand. That person, compared to an average individual, should also be considered large; however, next to this giant, he seemed quite small. If that person could be called big, then this giant should be referred to as a titan. The titan held the smaller man's leg with one hand and lifted him effortlessly as if he weighed nothing at all. With his arm extended straight and his other hand raised in the air, he shouted loudly, "You all, get back! Get back!" His voice boomed like thunder in the night.
"Let our boss go! If you let him go, we’ll let you leave!" shouted those around him. A group armed with steel pipes, machetes, and axes dared not approach closely; they merely formed a circle around the titan, watching helplessly.
"You all, get back! Get back!" The titan seemed not to hear what those around him were saying and continued shouting while swinging the person he held like a small chicken.
As the car approached, Xin Yi stopped and said to Shu Rui, "Wait here for me; don’t get out. I’ll go take a look."
Shu Rui glanced nervously at the titan and replied to Xin Yi, "Be careful."
Seeing the car coming, the group turned their heads. The titan stopped shouting and looked at Xin Yi as he walked over calmly and asked, "Brother, what’s going on?"
Perhaps due to Xin Yi's calm demeanor, one of the guys holding a machete responded, "This big guy ate without paying at the train station and grabbed our boss; we chased after him."
"Oh," Xin Yi replied. "What did he eat? How much is it? I can pay for him; you blocking the road like this makes it hard for me to get through."
"Hey! Are you trying to be a hero?" One guy with slanted eyebrows and droopy eyes stepped forward and coldly glared at Xin Yi, saying sarcastically, "You want to pay for him? It’s one thousand yuan; cough up the money! Pay up and we’ll let you go."
A chill ran down Xin Yi's spine; this guy really knew how to take advantage of the situation. Given what was happening on-site, it was uncertain who would end up letting whom go. If that titan decided to act, it seemed likely that this group would not fare well. Yet Xin Yi didn’t want to argue with him; these people probably specialized in such extortion tactics. He shouted toward the titan in the center of the scene: "Brother, they say you ate something without paying; what did you eat from them? How much?"
The titan paused for a moment before answering: "Noodles—one kilogram—and they want sixty yuan!"
Wow! Sixty yuan for one kilogram of noodles? Anyone would know that was extortion! However, this titan could really eat; he managed to finish an entire kilogram by himself. Not wanting to dwell on it further, Xin Yi addressed the earlier speaker: "He said he ate one kilogram of noodles for sixty yuan; why are you asking me for one thousand?"
"You idiot! Do you think our brothers work for free? No way we’re doing this without getting paid!" The guy with slanted eyebrows and droopy eyes spoke arrogantly. Seeing this unfold, others abandoned their focus on the titan and began closing in on Xin Yi, thinking this seemingly delicate guy would be easier to bully.
Xin Yi smiled; this reckless fellow clearly needed a lesson in humility. It seemed he deserved some punishment for being so arrogant. So he crossed his arms and said defiantly: "What if I don’t pay?"
"If you don’t pay? Then I’ll beat you up!" The guy with slanted eyebrows and droopy eyes had learned how to speak plainly with strong intent.
"Then why aren’t you making your move? Waiting for backup?" Xin Yi replied dismissively.
"Alright! You really have a tough mouth, Brothers! Beat him up! Beat him to the point where he can't take care of himself! If anything happens, I've got your back!" Slanted Eyebrows and Droopy Eyes was quite satisfied with his tough talk. After finishing, he casually pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and placed it in his mouth, trying to show off a bit of that Little Ma style. However, before he could take out his lighter, he felt a gust of wind coming towards him, and suddenly, a hand like an iron claw clamped down on his cheeks. In pain, Slanted Eyebrows and Droopy Eyes instinctively opened his mouth, only to receive a solid punch right in the face. The unlit cigarette and four of his front teeth were smashed into his mouth, and then Xin Yi forcefully lifted his leg, driving his knee into Slanted Eyebrows and Droopy Eyes' chest. With a cry of "Ah," the cigarette and four teeth, along with a mouthful of blood, were swallowed down.
Xin Yi completed all this with lightning speed and floated back to his original spot. If it weren't for the four teeth that Slanted Eyebrows and Droopy Eyes had just swallowed as evidence, no one would believe he had ever moved. Xin Yi took out a tissue to wipe his hands and smiled, "Do you still want to beat me to the point where I can't take care of myself?"
The people around were dumbfounded. What kind of Kung Fu was this? They hadn't even seen the figure clearly before he was beaten up. If someone wanted to kill him, wouldn't it be easy for them to handle the ten or so people here in just a minute? Many began to regret their decision; it seemed they shouldn't have targeted this pretty boy. They thought he would be easier to bully than the giant, but who knew they had encountered an even more difficult opponent? It looked like tonight was not their lucky night; no one dared to make a move anymore. A few people hurriedly helped Slanted Eyebrows and Droopy Eyes up and advised, "Brother Mao, let's go back." Slanted Eyebrows and Droopy Eyes glared at Xin Yi but didn't dare say anything; this guy was too intimidating to provoke. All he could think about was his four teeth! He could only go back and see if they could be reattached after being pulled out; after all, original teeth should fit better than dentures.
As the group helped the guy named Brother Mao leave, Xin Yi called out, "Wait a minute!"
Brother Mao trembled at the sound; what else did this guy want? Hadn't he already admitted defeat? Did he really want to beat him until he couldn't take care of himself?
At that moment, Xin Yi shouted towards the giant who had been neglected over there, "Brother, let that person go!"
Upon hearing this, the giant quickly raised his hand to check; sure enough, he was still holding that person. He then chuckled and said, "Sure, let him go." With a casual toss, the person was thrown onto the ground like a dead dog, not moving an inch—probably already scared senseless.
A few people split off from the group to hurriedly "pick up" the fallen person and fled in panic. But just as they took a few steps away, Xin Yi's voice rang out again: "Wait a minute!"
Oh my! This guy was really relentless! This constant startle was torturing their fragile nerves; did he still not want to let them go?
Xin Yi took out his wallet and counted out sixty yuan to hand over, saying, "Here, I said I'd help pay for his noodles."
The group hesitated but dared not refuse. One braver individual cautiously took the sixty yuan from Xin Yi's hand and quickly bowed deeply while saying, "Thank you!" Then they hurriedly helped the two injured individuals away in disarray.
With everything settled, Xin Yi turned to walk towards his car. Just as he placed his hand on the door handle, he heard footsteps behind him—thud thud thud. Turning around, he saw the giant rushing towards him with big strides. Upon reaching Xin Yi, he clasped his fists together and said, "Thank you for saving my life!"
Xin Yi was taken aback by the giant's behavior; was this some kind of historical drama? Why was he using terms like 'benefactor'? And 'saving my life'? Was this giant from ancient times?
Xin Yi mimicked him and clasped his fists in return: "It's just a small matter; heroes will meet again!"
Seeing that Xin Yi was about to get into his car again made the giant anxious. He quickly said, "Benefactor, please wait!"
"What further instructions do you have?"
"I have no way to repay your life-saving grace; I..."
"Wait!" Xin Yi interrupted in fear that the giant might say something like "I can only repay you with my body." He quickly added, "Brother, you should find somewhere to stay soon; I need to head home."
Who knew that the giant was such a persistent person? Upon hearing Xin Yi's words, he became even more anxious. He stomped his foot and said, "Big Bull's life was saved by the benefactor. From now on, Big Bull's life belongs to the benefactor. Wherever the benefactor goes, Big Bull will follow, willing to serve and be at your disposal!"
"Uh, don't take it too seriously. I just helped you pay sixty bucks for the noodles; it's not a big deal. You should go do what you need to do. Ah, I'm leaving now, goodbye!" Xin Yi never expected to encounter such an "ancient person." After saying this, he opened the car door and got in, starting the engine and driving away.
Seeing Xin Yi's car drive off, the giant hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to chase after him. Despite his massive size, the giant ran surprisingly fast. With his large feet moving like a small boat, he panted as he followed. His height allowed him to cover several meters with each stride, surprisingly keeping pace with Xin Yi's car.
Shu Rui looked at the giant in the rearview mirror and nervously grabbed Xin Yi's arm, saying, "He... that person is catching up! What should we do?"
Xin Yi had also been watching in the rearview mirror. He didn't expect the giant to run so impressively fast; it was almost unbelievable. If he participated in some Olympic event, it would be hard not to win a gold medal. Then he thought that if this giant was willing to follow him, it might not be such a bad thing after all. At least in many aspects, he would be much stronger than an average person. With this in mind, Xin Yi suddenly slammed on the brakes and pulled over to the side of the road.

"In response to the benefactor, my name is Niu Gensheng. The people in my village call me Big Bull. I live in Changxing Anling by the Heimu River. My mother told me to come out and find food... she said... you are a good person!"
Niu Gensheng? Why does that name sound so familiar?
