After a few days of interaction, Roxy had evidently become friends with Xin Yi and Shen Shanshan. Especially with Shen Shanshan, Roxy affectionately called her "Shanshan" as if they were very close. Shen Shanshan was a girl of great refinement and had a very thin skin, so although she felt a bit antagonistic towards Roxy, she couldn't bring herself to coldly reject her. The two got along quite well. During these days, the streets and alleys of Longchuan had been explored thoroughly, yet Roxy never mentioned wanting to leave, as if she intended to stay in Longchuan for a long time.
Xin Yi couldn't help but ask her, "Roxy, don't you want to visit other places in Heavenly Pride Nation? The development here has been rapid over the years, with many grand and magnificent buildings that would surely delight your eyes."
Roxy didn't answer Xin Yi directly but instead held Shen Shanshan's hand and said pitifully, "Shanshan, look at your fiancé; he's starting to get annoyed with me. It must be because I've disturbed your world together. Fine, I won't bother you both anymore."
Shen Shanshan was a soft-hearted girl. Although she knew Roxy was just pretending, she couldn't help but comfort her. "Roxy, don't say that. Xin Yi doesn't mean it that way; how could we be annoyed with you? Xin Yi just wants you to see more during your visit to Heavenly Pride so that it won't be in vain. If you're willing, you can stay in Longchuan for a while. If you're not comfortable in a hotel, you can move in with me."
"Oh really?" Roxy exclaimed in surprise. "I was just thinking about staying longer in Longchuan. It's beautiful and quiet here; I want to finish my Doctoral Thesis here. But staying in a hotel for a long time is quite expensive; I was worried about not having a place to stay. Shanshan, you're so kind!"
This time even Shen Shanshan was taken aback; she had only said it casually. The good tradition of the people of Heavenly Pride Nation is politeness—so polite that it borders on insincerity—often saying things they don't intend to mean because they know the other person won't take them seriously. For example: when visiting a friend's home late at night and the couple starts yawning to indicate it's time to leave, when you stand up to say goodbye, the couple might insist on seeing you downstairs and then say something like: "Why not stay a little longer? If it gets too late, just sleep over at our place; there's room!" Isn't it amusing to say that after escorting someone downstairs? But that's just how the people of Heavenly Pride like to do things; it's one of their characteristics. What Shen Shanshan had said earlier carried a similar meaning; naturally, the people of Heavenly Pride would understand and politely respond: "Thank you! No way! That would disturb you too much! I already feel bad for bothering you for so many days!" This way both parties would be happy; such is the etiquette culture.
However, Roxy either didn't realize this or genuinely misunderstood the culture of Heavenly Pride Nation and took Shen Shanshan's polite words as an official invitation, gladly accepting it. Since she had spoken those words herself, Shen Shanshan felt embarrassed to say anything else, so the matter was settled just like that. Roxy immediately urged Xin Yi to drive her back to the hotel to pack her things and move into Shen Shanshan's house. After dropping off Shen Shanshan and Roxy at her home, Xin Yi drove over to Xin Manor...
It was calm; these past few days Longchuan and even the entire Binhai area had been quite peaceful. Josen's case had passed more than ten days ago, yet the expected reaction from the Qiao Family had not materialized. Qiao Qiang and He Zhixiang continued their daily routines as if they were completely unaware that their son had been arrested. Even Lu Jianming felt something was off; what exactly was Qiao Qiang up to? This indifference left Lu Jianming puzzled about how to proceed. In high-stakes situations like this, whoever loses their composure first will reveal their weaknesses; one misstep could lead to total defeat. Thus, Lu Jianming hesitated to act. Since Josen was still hospitalized and hadn't recovered yet, he decided to wait it out for now. Moreover, there had been no movements from Vulture either; after their last encounter at Riverside, Vulture had suffered significant losses. However, according to Vulture's usual principles of operation, this calmness was surely temporary—they were likely waiting for the right moment before striking Xin Yi with full force.
A storm was about to come!
That night around eleven o'clock, Xin Yi's phone suddenly rang; it was Shen Shanshan calling him urgently. She informed him that Roxy hadn't returned since going out that afternoon for some unknown reason. Her calls went unanswered until just now when a man called Shen Shanshan using Roxy's phone and said that Roxy was at Longchuan City First People's Hospital due to a car accident that left her unconscious. A kind passerby had brought her there for emergency treatment; she was currently in room 6015 at Longchuan City First People's Hospital. The man who called was a doctor who found Roxy's phone on her after searching for contact information based on missed calls. Since Shen Shanshan and Xin Yi were Roxy's only friends in Longchuan—and given that Roxy was currently staying at Shen Shanshan's house—they couldn't ignore this situation. Thus, Shen Shanshan anxiously called Xin Yi asking him to accompany her to the hospital.
After hanging up the phone, Xin Yi quickly got dressed and went downstairs to drive but accidentally woke Big Bull up as well. Big Bull insisted on going with him, and after some thought, Xin Yi agreed. He drove over to pick up Shen Shanshan from Military District Command’s family compound before heading straight for the hospital together with Big Bull and Shen Shanshan. After arriving at the hospital, they made their way directly to room 6015 located at the end of the corridor on the sixth floor. There was an iron gate separating this section of the corridor from other patient rooms; seeing this layout made Xin Yi hesitate momentarily. The iron gate wasn't locked; Big Bull pushed it open and walked inside while Shen Shanshan and Xin Yi followed closely behind him. Xin Yi carefully looked around but noticed nothing suspicious aside from an unusual silence; however, he felt an underlying sense that something wasn't right.
Inside the iron door, there was only one hospital room, Room 6015. The door to Room 6015 was closed, and looking through the glass on the door, it was pitch black inside. Big Bull walked ahead and pushed the door open. As soon as the door swung open, a strong smell of blood rushed out. Big Bull frowned and said, "Is this an operating room? Why is there such a strong smell of blood?" As he spoke, he stepped inside to look for the light switch. Xin Yi wanted to stop him but was too late. However, just as Big Bull took a step in, he stumbled and fell to the ground with a loud thud, causing the floor to tremble slightly under his massive weight. Big Bull struggled on the floor for a moment but couldn't get up, shouting, "What’s on the floor? Why is it so slippery?"
With a "click," Xin Yi found the light switch in the hallway and turned it on. The room was suddenly brightened. At that moment, Shen Shanshan, standing at the doorway of the room, let out a startled scream and her frail body collapsed sideways. Xin Yi hurried forward to support the swaying Shen Shanshan, who buried her head in Xin Yi's arms, trembling all over as she stammered, "Blood... Xin Yi, so much blood..."
In fact, when Xin Yi came over to support Shen Shanshan, he saw that the entire floor of the hospital room was covered in blood—bright red like a sea of blood—making one feel dizzy. Because the floor was made of ceramic tiles, the blood spread quickly and continued to expand. The source of the blood was two men lying in a pool of it; their carotid arteries were still gushing blood. However, judging by their pale faces, they had likely lost most of their blood and had no chance of survival. There was also a person lying on a hospital bed covered in blood; judging by their attire, they appeared to be a patient from the hospital. However, their blue-and-white striped patient gown had been stained red with blood and was in tatters, revealing flesh underneath in several places. The person's head was covered by a pillow, making it hard to see clearly.
It was precisely because of the ceramic tile floor that it became extremely slippery after being soaked with blood; this was why Big Bull slipped as soon as he entered the room. When Xin Yi turned on the light and Big Bull saw what was inside, he let out a terrified scream. Big Bull had a deep and powerful voice that could be likened to a tiger roaring through the mountains. While screaming in shock, he struggled to get up but became more flustered and clumsy instead. After several failed attempts to rise, he ended up rolling around on the floor covered in blood. Finally, amidst his panic, Big Bull spotted a long knife in the pool of blood and quickly grabbed it. He struck it into the wooden door frame and pulled himself up against it before stumbling out of the room while shouting, "Not good! Brother Xin! Someone's dead! Someone's dead!" Although Big Bull had a giant's physique and immense strength along with his powerful Meteor Fist developed since childhood, he had grown up isolated in Changxing Anling Mountain and had never witnessed such a bloody scene before. Even during his time with Xin Yi, he had only engaged in physical fights; this was truly his first encounter with such gruesome bloodshed—and hot blood at that—so it was inevitable that he would be frightened.
Just as Big Bull finished speaking, there came a sudden clatter of metal hitting the ground and glass shattering at the entrance of the hallway. Xin Yi turned around to see that a small nurse had dropped her tray along with its contents all over the floor. Perhaps upon seeing Big Bull covered in blood and hearing his words, she panicked too. Big Bull also heard this noise and looked up blankly at the nurse who stared back at him in shock. Both their minds took a moment to process what was happening as they stood there for about ten seconds until finally, it was the nurse who snapped back to reality first. She suddenly turned around and ran away while shouting, "Murder! Help! Murder!"
"Don't run! Stop! I didn't kill anyone! Stop!" Big Bull also regained his senses and shouted loudly while trying to chase after her. Xin Yi quickly yelled back, "Big Bull! Stop! We can't go anywhere right now!"
Only then did Big Bull reluctantly halt his steps as the nurse screamed while running far away; her piercing cries echoed down the long corridor, sending chills down one's spine. Trembling from fear, Big Bull moved away from directly facing Room 6015 and said with a pale face, "Brother Xin! Someone's dead! What do we do? I didn't kill anyone!"
