A crisp sound echoed as the bottle shattered on Guan Yong's head, shocking everyone present, including Guan Yong, who was now covered in blood and beer. No one expected this newcomer, who looked refined and gentle, would dare to strike without warning, especially against someone they had always regarded with fear like Brother Yong. They knew his strength; it was said that he once single-handedly killed a large water buffalo back in his hometown. This gave them an idea of how terrifying his strength must be.
Yet now someone dared to attack him, and it was a refined young man at that. Almost everyone could predict what would happen next: the man would be beaten badly, and the woman would be taken home by Brother Yong... another tragedy was about to unfold.
"Roar..." As expected, Brother Yong exploded in anger, flipping over the table in front of him. The dishes and drinks scattered everywhere, splattering the small-time thugs at the same table with leftover food. Like a meatball, Brother Yong charged at Xin Yi with a roar. At that moment when he flipped the table, Xin Yi had already retreated several steps, pulling Lu Hanmeng's hand to escape the area of flying leftovers.
Seeing Brother Yong charging at him now, Xin Yi pushed Lu Hanmeng aside and said, "Wait and see how it goes; if it gets bad, you leave first."
This genetically mutated Brother Yong was indeed not an easy opponent. Although he lacked height advantage, his movements were surprisingly quick. The small-time thugs at nearby tables stood up, eager to join the fray surrounding the fighting Brother Yong and Xin Yi. Only Ma Huateng looked distressed as he tried to mediate: "Brother Yong, please don't fight yet; I can see there's definitely some misunderstanding here. Brother Xin Shanli is Brother Ju's cousin; we're all family here—let's talk things over!"
"Talk? Talk your mother!" Brother Yong shouted angrily while wiping blood off his face. "Even if he's A'Kuma's cousin, if A'Kuma himself came here and messed with me, I'd still break his legs! You brought him here; you can't escape either! After I deal with this brat, I'll come for you too! Damn it!"
Ma Huateng immediately wilted under this threat. He knew what kind of methods Brother Yong employed; getting beaten up was still considered light punishment compared to what might happen if he took an interest in Ma Huateng himself... that would be a tragedy beyond measure. So Ma Huateng quickly turned to Xin Yi and said, "Brother Xin Shanli, you were wrong to strike first; I think you should quickly apologize to Brother Yong and treat everyone to a meal as per his wishes..."
"Teng Ge, don't say that," Xin Yi replied. "I am Xin Shanli; I am a proper man and absolutely cannot allow my woman to be bullied by others. Ma Huateng felt helpless; these two were locked in confrontation now and it seemed there would be no resolution without determining a victor. He regretted getting involved with such a calamity out of nowhere. He wanted Brother Yong's help but failed to read the situation properly and ended up provoking him instead—how could this end well?
"You brat! If I don't break both your legs today, I'm not Brother Yong!" he shouted defiantly.
"Alright, two legs, huh? I'll grant you that!" Xin Yi replied.
This time, Xin Yi decided to take the initiative. The creature was tough and strong, and if Big Bull were here, he could easily knock him out with a single punch. Since Xin Yi wasn't good at brute strength, it was better to win with speed and technique. With that thought in mind, Xin Yi leaped towards Yong Ge. Yong Ge fought without much skill, relying purely on brute force. Seeing Xin Yi jump towards him, he swung his fist without hesitation.
Xin Yi was waiting for this punch. Just as Yong Ge's fist approached, he suddenly pulled himself up, raising his body by more than a meter and landing right on Yong Ge's swinging arm. Then he lifted his leg and kicked hard at that large head.
"Ah..." Even the toughest character would feel dizzy or faint from such a kick. Yong Ge fell backward with a crash, blood gushing from his nose and mouth like a spring. However, he was indeed tough; after taking this kick from Xin Yi, he surprisingly didn't lose consciousness and struggled to get back up.
Xin Yi wasted no time and stepped on his ankle with one foot while lifting the other to deliver a horizontal kick. With a crack, the sturdy bone snapped in two. He then switched to the other leg and repeated the process; another crack echoed as the other leg broke as well.
Two screams rang out. Surprisingly, the resilient Yong Ge did not faint from the pain. However, this only made his suffering more intense; he was now trembling all over with convulsions.
The small gangsters surrounding them were dumbfounded, not one of them daring to stop Xin Yi from attacking. They watched helplessly as their leader was easily incapacitated. It wasn't that they didn't want to intervene; it was just that everything happened too quickly—from Xin Yi's attack to Yong Ge being disabled took only about ten seconds.
Moreover, they had never anticipated that their once-feared leader would be defeated so swiftly and thoroughly. By the time they reacted and thought about rushing in to help, Yong Ge had already become a person receiving government disability benefits. So they immediately halted their steps; they were smart enough to realize that if Yong Ge could be taken down in ten seconds, any one of them would meet the same fate—instant defeat.
They began to shout in outrage: "Brothers! Charge! Avenge Yong Ge! He crippled our brother; we cannot let this stand! Charge..." Yet not a single person dared to move forward.
"I promised you I would do it," Xin Yi said calmly to the trembling Yong Ge lying on the ground.
"You... you are ruthless..." At this point, Yong Ge finally lost consciousness.
Xin Yi looked around coldly at the shouting gangsters and said, "This is my personal grudge with him. If anyone wants to avenge him, come up now; if you're afraid, step aside! If anyone dares to stop me today, I can guarantee they'll end up like him!"
After throwing down this challenge, Xin Yi walked over and took Lu Hanmeng's hand as they headed out. Surprisingly, none of the gangsters dared to block their way; they obediently parted to create a path for them as the two left the food stall gracefully.
Not far outside, they heard footsteps approaching from behind. Lu Hanmeng turned back nervously and said, "Oh no, someone is chasing us! What should we do?"
Xin Yi chuckled without looking back and continued holding her hand. "Don't worry; nothing will happen tonight. Even if something does happen, do you really think you'd be afraid of them? In my impression, our Lu Officer is quite the heroine who doesn't fall behind any man!"
"Afraid? I wouldn't be scared of them," Lu Hanmeng snorted and replied. "I'm a proud officer of Heavenly Pride Nation; why would I fear a bunch of thugs? I'm just worried about you getting overwhelmed by them—if you get beaten up, don't come crying in front of me!"
"Really?" Xin Yi looked disappointed at Lu Hanmeng and said, "Are you really going to watch while others gang up on me without helping? I came out tonight for you; you wouldn't be so heartless!"
"I didn't ask you to help me," Lu Hanmeng said coldly, showing no gratitude. "I originally wanted to teach that ugly monster a lesson myself, but who knew you would jump in first? I haven't even blamed you for stealing my chance to fight, and here you are trying to take credit with me."
"..." Xin Yi was speechless.
After a while, Lu Hanmeng quietly asked, "Since we couldn't join the Black Dragon Society this time, the whole plan is on hold. What do you plan to do next?"
"What to do? Just chill!" Xin Yi replied irritably.
"Are you blaming me?" Lu Hanmeng asked somewhat aggrieved.
"Yes!"
"Then are you still going to step in?"
"Because you're my girlfriend."
"Get lost..." Lu Hanmeng was angry again...
