With a loud bang, Biaozi fired his gun at the ceiling, the barrel angled upward. Although he didn't hit anyone, the scattered iron shot and the strong smell of gunpowder filled the air. 0

"Who told you to shoot?" Black Bear looked around and found that Biaozi had actually run to a place far from the crowd, his shotgun lying on the ground, and his face—specifically below his nose—was covered in blood. 0

Biaozi's mouth resembled a bloody hole, dripping with blood, and there were bits of broken teeth around his lips. "Alpaca, this shotgun shell has no bullet; otherwise..." Black Bear said as he walked forward. Before he could finish, Biaozi struggled to raise his hand and pointed at Zhang Yang, who had reappeared at the door. 0

"That injured guy—do you think I'm stupid? You've been eyeing that fishing gear bag several times. And you’re hiding a gun behind your back. If I raise my hand a little higher, I could swap out your eyeballs. Do you believe me?" Zhang Yang said coldly. 0

Biaozi shivered and spat out a mouthful of bloody teeth, along with a bloody glass ball inside it, which had a beautiful yellow pattern. 0

Originally, Black Bear's men brought the shotgun to blow up Green Hat's Chrysanthemum. However, when Zhang Yang arrived, they hadn't even used it before getting into a fight with Black Wolf. In the end, Zhang Yang arrogantly wanted to leave, which ignited Biaozi's anger. Knowing he was outmatched in a fair fight, he impulsively decided to use a hidden gun. 0

Just as Biaozi was about to pull the trigger, Zhang Yang threw the glass ball that a child had given him at Biaozi's mouth, hitting him and quickly darting outside. In pain from the hit, Biaozi inadvertently pulled the trigger again, firing upward. 0

"I've already said this is over! I'll remember the one who shot at me; don't bother me again!" Zhang Yang turned to leave once more. 0

This skirmish didn't involve large-scale fighting, but Black Wolf, Black Bear, and their dozen or so men felt it was their worst defeat yet. This student-like young man had easily shown them his skills, leaving them with a sense of utter defeat. 0

Black Wolf and Black Bear exchanged glances, raising an unspoken question: Should they tell their boss, Black Ghost? 0

The answer was obvious. 0

"You'd better keep your mouths shut about what happened today," Black Wolf warned. "Winter winds are strong; don’t let your tongues slip or I might just help you cut them off!" 0

"Hey? What happened today? It was just an ordinary day," one clever subordinate began to laugh. Black Wolf made a dismissive gesture; who would want to talk about such disgraceful matters? However, Biaozi covered his mouth, his face filled with hatred as his eyes darted around. 0

That afternoon, in an office on the top floor of a bathhouse set up by Black Ghost, Biaozi—who spoke somewhat haltingly—was recounting what had happened. At the end of his tale, he added, "Gui Ge! He also said that whatever you have going on is nothing; when Boss Black Ghost arrives, I'll take care of it!" 0

Black Ghost's real name was Gui San Tai; "Black Ghost" was a nickname given to him in the underworld. Originally referred to as "Gui Ge" or "Ah Gui," it later morphed into "Ghost." His methods were indeed quite ruthless, which solidified the nickname "Black Ghost." 0

As a result, many people who followed Black Ghost began adopting nicknames that included "Black," eager for others to know they were part of the underworld—as if there truly were an underworld in Huaxia Nation. 0

Black Ghost was in his early forties, a native of West District with many relatives and friends and extensive connections; he wielded considerable influence. 0

"This isn't a big deal, is it?" Black Ghost patiently listened to Biaozi and replied calmly. 0

"This..." Biaozi clearly didn't know how to respond, thinking: You were just cursed at directly, how can you be so indifferent? Aren't you supposed to be a leader? 0

"If what you say is true, that he has exceptional skills but only kicked Black Wolf once, it shows he knows his limits. Why would he curse me?" Black Ghost said unhurriedly. "Moreover, it was Black Wolf who invited him; he didn't initiate the conflict. How does this involve me?" 0

What kind of act is this? With Biaozi's intelligence, he couldn't have imagined that Black Ghost was sharper than anyone else. 0

"You, someone who operates in the underworld, used a shotgun and let a high school kid hit you in the mouth with a glass marble. Don't you feel embarrassed? And why would a high school kid need me to arrange how to deal with him? Just ask Black Wolf and Black Bear; they can figure it out themselves. They didn't come to me, so why are you here?" Black Ghost rubbed his forehead. 0

"I understand now, Boss is right," Biaozi said, lowering his head. "One should think things through." Black Ghost waved his hand, closed his eyes to rest, and stopped speaking. Biaozi wisely exited. 0

By going directly to Black Ghost instead of consulting Black Wolf and Black Bear first, Biaozi had already annoyed Black Ghost. Moreover, the fabricated insults aimed at Black Ghost were transparent to someone as seasoned as him. To Black Ghost, this was nothing more than a farce. 0

Going after a high school student wouldn't earn him any profit; the days of showing off were over—making money was the priority. Someone like Biaozi would be of no use in the future; it would be better to find an opportunity to kick him out. 0

Black Wolf was naturally different from Biaozi. He no longer thought about getting revenge on Zhang Yang and had a strong glimmer in his eyes. If he had to summarize that glimmer in two words, it would be "curiosity." 0

That night, Zhang Yang surprisingly finished his evening study session. He began to study seriously. 0

As he walked out of the school gate, Zhang Yang immediately spotted Black Wolf smoking at the side entrance. A cold light flashed in Zhang Yang's eyes, but Black Wolf smiled and approached him: "Brother Zhang, let's formally introduce ourselves; my name is Han Shenghui." 0

"What advice do you have for me, Han Brother?" As soon as Black Wolf revealed his real name, Zhang Yang understood that this was an attempt at friendship. Zhang Yang wasn't riding a bicycle; the two walked side by side. 0

"I don't dare to give advice; I genuinely want to be friends with Brother Zhang." Black Wolf took out a box of hard Chinese cigarettes and offered one. 0

Zhang Yang took it and tucked it behind his ear. Then he pulled out a pack of Soft Red Plum from his pocket and lit one up. "You're too polite, Brother; I can still afford my own cigarettes," Black Wolf said as he pulled out another unopened box of hard Chinese cigarettes and offered it again. 0

"Han Brother misunderstood; I put it behind my ear because I don't smoke those kinds of cigarettes. But I didn't want you to feel bad if I refused," Zhang Yang said after taking a puff. 0

"Then what kind of cigarettes do you smoke?" Black Wolf looked at the Soft Red Plum in Zhang Yang's mouth and thought: Surely he doesn't only smoke ones that cost less than five yuan? 0

"I only smoke two kinds of cigarettes, Soft Red Plum and Soft Zhonghua," Zhang Yang said. He wasn't wrong; although he didn't have much money, he usually smoked about a pack of Soft Red Plum every day and bought a pack of Soft Zhonghua each month. Sometimes, Fatty Pan would secretly take his father's Soft Zhonghua to share with him. 0

The cost of a box of Soft Zhonghua was enough to buy a whole carton of Soft Red Plum, Black Wolf thought to himself: even showing off is done skillfully. 0

"Han Brother, you're quite capable; I'm glad to have you as a friend. From now on, no need to be polite. I'm just a student, and as long as it's not illegal, your matters are my matters," Zhang Yang surprisingly patted Black Wolf's shoulder. 0

After evening self-study, the roads near Wuzhong were filled with students riding bicycles and walking. The crowd surged, and many noticed a student-like young man patting the shoulder of an adult man dressed in a gang style on the sidewalk, his eyes filled with determination. The adult man seemed quite pleased, laughing heartily while exhaling smoke. 0

Some sharp-eyed students from the West District recognized that this man was none other than Black Wolf, who was reputed to be the toughest fighter in the West District. In the West District, Black Wolf was an idol among countless delinquents; with his iron fists, he dominated both north and south, boasting east and west. No one dared to challenge him one-on-one. 0

"That guy looks like Black Wolf's boss." 0

"Looks familiar; seems like he's from our school." 0

"That's Zhang Yang from Class 4 of Senior Year Three; it's definitely him." 0

"Damn, what's going on here?" 0

"Looks like a love story..." 0
