After a satisfying meal, Han Shenghui arranged for everyone to go to the Hot Spring Club for a bath. After bathing, they entered the lounge, where a row of beautiful women in black strapless short skirts approached. Erhu's eyes widened, his breathing became heavy, and he started to tremble a bit. Swallowing hard, Erhu said to Liu Gang, "Brother Gang, I can't betray my wife."
"Hahaha," Han Shenghui laughed. "Erhu, don't worry, everything here is legitimate; it's just a massage to relieve fatigue."
"I mean, legitimate? But why are they dressed so revealingly?" Zhang Yang thought to himself and couldn't help but ask Han Shenghui.
"It has to be this way; even legitimate services have visual requirements," Han Shenghui explained. "As for Azheng, he’s out of luck. His girlfriend said that even though it’s legitimate, if they dress like this, she won’t allow them to give Azheng a massage."
Azheng awkwardly smiled and said, "I'm on the same level as Qi Jiguang."
"Qi Jiguang? Isn't he a national hero? What does that have to do with his girlfriend?" Erhu was somewhat confused. "Qi Jiguang is famously afraid of his wife, hahahaha..." Liu Gang surprisingly joined in the laughter.
To make chatting easier, they didn't book a private room but instead opted for a lounge that could accommodate ten people for massages.
While everyone was joking around, one of Han Shenghui's subordinates knocked and entered, handing him a phone.
"Kang Ning wants to meet with me; he found some brothers," Han Shenghui said after hanging up the phone.
"Great! I'll accompany you, Brother Gang," Zhang Yang said while looking at Liu Gang and then nodded.
"I told you not to call me Brother Gang," Liu Gang replied to Zhang Yang.
"Sure thing, Brother Gang."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome, Brother Gang."
Zhang Yang was still joking with Liu Gang when Han Shenghui had already made the call: "Tell Big Head Yang that he can meet with Kang Ning tonight at Wanghailou; it's on me."
Li Wangchun, the boss of Wanghailou, had already formed a deep impression of Zhang Yang after seeing him for the third time. He personally brought this young man along with Liu Gang and Han Shenghui into the "Spring Brings Color" private room. When someone mentioned "Spring Brings Color" again, Li Wangchun was surprised to find that it was Kang Ning, who had a poor reputation in Haizhou, and Big Head Yang, a former local thug. Behind them were two intimidating-looking lackeys.
Kang Ning was slightly overweight and of average appearance, with the most notable feature being his dazed expression. After everyone met, Kang Ning focused on Han Shenghui, largely ignoring Zhang Yang and Liu Gang. After some small talk and three rounds of drinks, they still hadn't fully recognized each other.
Zhang Yang remained silent and observant, while Liu Gang seemed somewhat annoyed by the encounter but didn't say much, instead smoking a cigarette vigorously.
"I can give Boss Han some face, but it won't be for free," Kang Ning suddenly said, his previously dazed eyes sharpening as he spoke. After finishing his sentence, he pulled out a cigarette to light up, wearing a half-smile that looked unprofessional.
"What do you want?" Han Shenghui replied as he lit his own cigarette with much more flair.
"The freight logistics in Haizhou are monopolized by Seeking Society. Can you lend me a line? Once my Medical Industry Park is completed, I will definitely need logistics support," Kang Ning stated.
"There are so many logistics companies and courier points in Haizhou; how can you say we have a monopoly? We merely cooperate with some logistics companies. My principle is simply safety. If you want to collaborate with logistics companies or develop your own logistics, it seems unrelated to us. Are you planning to become a monk?" Han Shenghui replied nonchalantly while keeping his eyes fixed on Kang Ning.
"Just a figure of speech. Does that mean there's nothing to discuss?" Kang Ning's anger began to surface, though he tried hard to suppress it on the outside.
"Why would I invite you if there's nothing to discuss? Even this big-headed guy next to you—despite how annoying I find him—we're still sitting together. That's already a great show of sincerity," Han Shenghui said before turning his attention back to Zhang Yang and Liu Gang for drinks and food.
Big Head Yang felt irritated but remained silent as Kang Ning did not respond. He let out a cold snort while tightening his grip on a string of sea yellow beads.
"Brother Yang?" Kang Ning was taken aback when he heard Han Shenghui refer to Zhang Yang this way. Zhang Yang appeared significantly younger than Han Shenghui, and this natural and solid address made Kang Ning's heart tremble: it seemed that Zhang Yang's claim of having connections with Wu Liangdong was not just empty talk.
"How about this: the land approval, planning, demolition, and construction are not solely my responsibility. I will discuss it with the shareholders when I return. Moreover, such a large project cannot be separated from the strong support of relevant leaders in related departments. I will consider it and give you an answer later," Kang Ning said as he raised his glass and downed its contents.
"I have mundane matters to attend to; I must take my leave now. Please enjoy!"
"Alright then, I won't see you off, Mr. Kang. Take care," Han Shenghui said as he slightly stood up and gestured for him to leave. Throughout the meal, Zhang Yang and Liu Gang hardly exchanged any words.
"Just a few hundred thousand is nothing for Kang Ning; just quietly give it to Erhu and stop pretending!" Han Shenghui cursed after Kang Ning left.
"Thanks to the strong support from the relevant leaders in the concerned departments. This is bringing out Wu Zhongxin to pressure people. With the Deputy Mayor backing him from above and Big Head Yang and his gang below, he must be thinking that today is enough to give you Black Wolf some face," Zhang Yang said with a smile to Han Shenghui.
"I don't have much time. If he drags this on for ten or eight days, it will be too troublesome," Liu Gang suddenly said.
"What do you want to do?" Zhang Yang sighed, thinking that he had just returned and hadn't contacted his girlfriend yet; he certainly didn't want to waste time.
"I want to apply pressure through government departments," Liu Gang hesitated as he spoke. The hesitation came from his identity as a public servant of the Heavenly Mechanism Group. If he used this identity to pressure government departments or even directly approached Wu Zhongxin, it might have an effect; however, because of this identity, it could leave a handle. If the higher-ups at the Heavenly Mechanism Group found out, Liu Gang's actions would naturally be considered illegal and immoral, and the consequences could be imagined.
"Not appropriate," Zhang Yang said decisively. That said, he didn't have any good solutions either. Liu Gang looked at Zhang Yang, their eyes met, and he understood that the method he proposed would lead to endless troubles, letting out a sigh.
In fact, if these people were willing to take out hundreds of thousands for Erhu, it wouldn't be difficult at all; however, that would change the meaning. What Erhu wanted was what he deserved, not charity.
"Since there aren't any good methods available, and they even resorted to such despicable tactics as throwing Erhu's wife into a graveyard in the middle of the night, why don't we also respond in kind and give them a taste of their own medicine?" Zhang Yang pondered for a moment before finally saying.
"Respond in kind?" Han Shenghui couldn't help but laugh. "Kang Ning isn't giving any face today; it's time to teach him a lesson."
"What kind of despicable method?" Liu Gang asked.
