“Shan Hai Business World's number one beauty?” Zhang Yang thought to himself that this title was indeed well-deserved.
“Yeah, the number one beauty in Shan Hai Business World, Century Group President Zong Lingxu. She is the daughter of Century Group Chairman Zong Yaoshi and the sister of Zong Linghan. She truly is a Stunning Beauty,” Chen Xiangyu said passionately.
“The Zong Family's Century Group also has business in East Sea City, and it's quite substantial,” Cai Fengfeng added. “I haven't seen Zong Lingxu yet. Is she really that beautiful?”
“So, the unchanging beauty of Stunning Beauty, her looks have instantly become eternal...” Chen Xiangyu shot a glance at Cai Fengfeng and even hummed the song “Stunning Beauty.”
“Absolutely stunning, coldly elegant, noble,” Zhang Yang simply stated, “and she is indeed quite young.”
“She’s so young and can actually lead Century Group?” Cai Fengfeng exclaimed.
“It's probably just during her training period; with Zong Yaoshi backing her up, the one who will ultimately take over will definitely be Zong Linghan, the crown prince,” Wang Zhongwei chimed in.
“I've heard that this Zong Lingxu is quite remarkable, an absolute strong woman. Her business acumen and management skills are on par with her father,” Chen Xiangyu clearly knew more about the affairs of Shan Hai than Cai Fengfeng and Wang Zhongwei.
As everyone chatted animatedly, they soon arrived at a restaurant. Zhang Yang picked up the plastic bag containing two White Heart Radishes:
“Today, I’ll treat everyone to radishes.”
“Wow, are you the legendary generous emperor? We split one, you ate one, and there are six left. You actually took out two to share,” Wang Zhongwei exclaimed.
“We live together every day; I can't just let myself enjoy it!” Zhang Yang laughed.
Chen Xiangyu lifted the bag in his hand: “I absolutely cannot eat your radishes for free; I brought a bottle of thirty-year-old Maotai.”
Cai Fengfeng called out: “Alright, I didn’t bring anything but my appetite.”
Wang Zhongwei chuckled, "Two plates."
This restaurant is a casual dining place that they often visit. It is run by a middle-aged couple, and while the dishes are simple, they are not cheap. The Boss makes his profits transparently; the oil is of good quality, and both the vegetables and meat are fresh, which has garnered a loyal customer base.
As the four of them enjoyed the delicious radish cubes and sipped their drinks, Zhang Yang's phone rang. It was a call from Han Shenghui.
Zhang Yang answered the phone, and Han Shenghui said, "Brother Yang, is it a good time to talk?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"I'm heading to Shanzhou tonight with Azheng. I wanted to discuss something with you."
"What time?"
"We're about to hit the road. We'll check in first and need to go out around midnight to scout the situation. Should I contact you tomorrow instead?"
"No need. Just let me know when you check into the hotel, and I'll come find you."
"Alright, let's talk when we meet."
That evening, Zhang Yang arrived at the hotel where Han Shenghui and Azheng were staying. They had just taken a shower and ordered some takeout from a nearby restaurant. Zhang Yang brought a case of beer, and the three of them started to drink in the living room of the hotel suite. The reason Han Shenghui and Azheng came to Shanzhou was that Seeking Society's logistics business had encountered some trouble.
Originally, Seeking Society's Seeking Logistics primarily handled mainline logistics from Haizhou to Shanzhou, along with some branch logistics to surrounding counties and cities.
Recently, Seeking Logistics secured a major contract. A manufacturer in Haizhou called Tongda Company produces PVC pipes known for their quality but has limited transportation capabilities. Coincidentally, Tongda Company had just signed a contract with Century Group's Construction Company for long-term supply. Therefore, the transportation of PVC pipes was entrusted to Seeking Logistics, which would deliver three to five times a week, with each delivery involving several trucks.
Deliveries generally depart from Haizhou at midnight and arrive in Shanzhou during the early morning hours. At this time, there are fewer vehicles on the road, and the conditions are good, making it convenient. However, there is a problem with this timing: it is not very safe, which is one of the reasons Tongda Company approached Seeking Logistics. Since this business has a high profit margin, Seeking Logistics takes it very seriously, and there have been no issues with the transportation of goods until now.
However, starting last week, incidents began to occur consecutively. A delivery truck would be intercepted about a kilometer after exiting the Shanzhou toll station; the driver and security personnel would be violently assaulted, and the cargo would be damaged. After the first incident, Seeking Logistics reported it to the police in Shanzhou. During the second delivery, three vans were dispatched along with twenty skilled personnel for protection, but they were still intercepted about a kilometer after exiting the Shanzhou toll station. The assailants had also increased their numbers and were armed with shotguns and other weapons, damaging the cargo again.
Seeking Logistics reported the second incident to the police and provided a lead to a Deputy Captain from the Shanzhou Criminal Police Team. They suggested that if the police could stake out this location during Seeking Logistics' third delivery, they might catch these criminals in action. The Deputy Captain impatiently replied, "Do we need you to teach us how to handle cases? I have no interest in your black-on-black issues."
This situation was clearly visible; as soon as they entered Shanzhou's territory, they were attacked. It was evident that someone in Shanzhou was behind this—likely a competitor unhappy with Seeking Logistics taking on this business but lacking the strength to control things from Haizhou. Therefore, they created disturbances in Shanzhou while presumably having already bribed local police.
Han Shenghui sent someone to investigate and discovered that Kangbao Group's Kangbao Logistics Company was behind these troubles, which he found troublesome. Kangbao Logistics almost monopolized half of the logistics market in Shan Hai Province; however, they had never managed to take control of the route from Haizhou to Shanzhou primarily because this route was controlled by Seeking Society.
Chairman of Kangbao Group Xiao Hansheng was furious about this and had reprimanded Kangbao Logistics' General Manager Tie Chenggang more than once. The transportation of PVC pipes for Tongda Company from Haizhou could potentially last for over three years. More importantly, this major contract could establish Seeking Logistics' reputation on this route, making it even harder for them to take over business from Haizhou to Shanzhou while also affecting their existing operations from Shanzhou back to Haizhou.
Kangbao Logistics had a questionable background; Tie Chenggang had previously been involved in shady dealings alongside Xiao Hansheng. Without some level of intimidation or coercion, how could he thrive in the transportation industry? Tie Chenggang gathered his team at Kangbao Logistics and allied with the strongest local force in Shanzhou, Tiger Gang, to directly intercept trucks and damage cargo. The Deputy Captain responsible for highway transportation criminal cases in Shanzhou's Criminal Police Team had already been bribed.
Han Shenghui and Azheng came this time intending to quietly arrive at the scene before Seeking Logistics' delivery truck arrived. Since reporting to the police had proven ineffective, they decided it was best to assess the situation themselves first so they could devise a solution. They instructed the delivery vehicle to wait at a previous highway exit; if anyone attempted to intercept it again, they would notify the truck to exit early and take an alternate route while secretly observing those attempting to intercept them.
Azheng brought a gun this time—the 92 model that Zhang Yang had taken from Winged Fire Serpent's killer group and given to Azheng as a gift.
