"Handsome, you finally woke up! I didn't expect you to be so impressive! You're simply stunning!" Yewen said excitedly, putting down the various nutritional supplements in her hands.
"Thank you!" Zong Lingxu replied gently, a smile blooming on her face, revealing a hint of warmth beneath her cool demeanor.
"Are you okay?" Zhang Yang asked.
"I'm fine. Just got hit by a couple of pieces of glass on my back; it wasn't heavy," Zong Lingxu said lightly. "Are you classmates with Zong Linghan?"
"He's more like a senior to me," Zhang Yang responded. "I didn't think much of it at the time. I just wanted to save two beautiful ladies in style, but I ended up overestimating myself."
"What do you mean 'just a little thing'? This is a matter of life and death! When you were unconscious, Chairman Zong came by," Yewen interjected. "Seeing that you hadn't woken up, he arranged for Zong Linghan to come check on you."
"He has been here. I'm really fine. I should be able to leave the hospital in a couple of days," Zhang Yang said calmly.
"You don't need to worry about the hospitalization; I've arranged everything. Director Jin is my friend, so if you need anything, just contact him directly. If you ever need help in the future, feel free to reach out to me," Zong Lingxu said as she took out a business card. "You should give me your number too."
Hearing this, Zhang Yang remembered that he hadn't checked his phone in days and probably it was out of battery. "Where's my phone?"
"It's right here," Yewen said as she pulled his phone from the drawer beside the bed. "The nurse put it in there for you. It's dead; let me charge it for you." With that, Yewen took out a charger from her bag and plugged it into Zhang Yang's phone.
At that moment, Zong Lingxu received a phone call and stepped outside the room to take it.
"Handsome, President Zong actually talked quite a bit today and even smiled several times. She's usually very serious," Yewen whispered to Zhang Yang after jotting down his phone number.
"By the way, that fireball the other day was created by you, right? What kind of trick is that? Who did you learn it from?" Yewen was always interested in handsome guys, and having witnessed Zhang Yang's mysterious abilities made her even more curious.
"You must have seen it wrong. I'm just a student; how could I know any tricks?" Zhang Yang chuckled, thinking that this was definitely something he couldn't reveal.
Just then, Zong Lingxu walked back in and exchanged a few words about how she was feeling with Zhang Yang before awkwardly stating that she had clients to meet and excusing herself. Naturally, Zhang Yang wouldn't keep her from leaving, and they both departed shortly after.
"It seems he's not pretending; there's an inherent maturity and calmness about him," Zong Lingxu murmured softly to herself in the hallway.
"What?" Yewen asked, not hearing clearly.
"Nothing. Just make sure to get me the market analysis report for the land by Shanshui Lake as soon as possible," Zong Lingxu's expression returned to seriousness.
As soon as they left, Nurse Xiao Fang walked back into the room.
"President Zong is really beautiful. I heard she doesn't have a boyfriend!" Xiao Fang said, "You're quite handsome yourself, and your figure is not bad."
As soon as the topic of physique came up, Zhang Yang remembered that he was wearing a hospital gown and had just been cleaned up. Xiao Fang complimenting his figure must have been due to the cleaning. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but feel a bit awkward.
"Haha, you're quite interesting. What haven't we nurses seen?" Xiao Fang immediately understood upon seeing Zhang Yang's expression.
"Ah, the medication is almost done dripping. Shouldn't we change it?" Zhang Yang changed the subject. Xiao Mei glanced over and confirmed it, quickly running out to get a new bottle of medication.
After Xiao Mei left, Zhang Yang picked up his charging phone and turned it on, first calling Ding Weiwei.
Zhang Yang briefly explained that he had been injured while trying to save someone at the construction site when a piece of falling glass hit him, but he was fine now. Upon hearing that Zhang Yang was injured, Ding Weiwei didn't have time to think about who he had saved and hurriedly asked, "How are you feeling now? Should I come see you?"
"I'm fine, don't worry. I should be discharged tomorrow. Before winter break, I'll come to Yanjing to see you," Zhang Yang replied.
After chatting for a while, Xiao Fang returned with the medication bottle, and Zhang Yang ended the call.
After staying in the hospital for three more days, Zhang Yang felt that there were no issues left; all that remained was self-adjustment and recovery. He then informed Director Jin of his intention to be discharged. After a thorough examination, Director Jin also felt there were no problems left. "Young man, your physical condition is indeed quite good; you've recovered so quickly."
Zhang Yang thought to himself: "My body and organs are fine now, but for my breath and circulation to return to normal will take at least a month." However, since Director Jin was a Western doctor, he wouldn't believe such things anyway.
After completing the discharge procedures, Zhang Yang looked at the total hospital expenses and was shocked to find it amounted to seventy or eighty thousand yuan. He thought to himself that lying in bed for a week cost as much as a white-collar worker's annual salary.
He completed the discharge procedures in the morning and received a call from Zong Lingxu in the afternoon. It was her personal call, not through Yewen, indicating that she wanted to invite Zhang Yang to dinner that evening.
"Who else will be there?" Zhang Yang asked.
"It will just be me and my brother, plus you—three of us," Zong Lingxu replied. Zhang Yang thought about it and agreed that this arrangement was indeed suitable.
Since they were meeting at a Western restaurant, in the evening, Zhang Yang changed into a fitted black suit with a light green shirt underneath and arrived early at the venue. He waited for less than five minutes before Zong Lingxu and Zong Linghan arrived together.
Zong Lingxu was dressed casually this time with her hair down, adding an air of charm amidst her cool demeanor. Zong Linghan wore jeans and a jacket, looking youthful and vibrant.
"Zhang Yang, you arrived early!" Zong Linghan said with a smile. Ever since Zhang Yang saved Zong Lingxu, Zong Linghan had been very friendly and respectful towards him; it was clear he had a deep bond with his sister.
"Just got here; please sit," Zhang Yang nodded.
After taking a seat, Zong Lingxu took out a beautifully packaged box from his bag and said, "This is high-quality Cordyceps, which will help with your recovery."
Zhang Yang smiled, "Cordyceps is used for kidney deficiency and lung deficiency, and it regulates immune function. At my age, I probably won't need it."
"You know about medicine?" Zong Linghan was quite surprised. Ever since witnessing Zhang Yang's skills that night, he had looked at Zhang Yang in a new light. Seeing how knowledgeable Zhang Yang was about medicinal materials made him ask, "What exactly did you do before? You seem like a skilled person from the martial world."
"If you don't need it, just give it to someone else. It's just a small token of my appreciation." Without waiting for Zhang Yang to respond, Zong Lingxu placed the box on the table next to Zhang Yang.
"Alright then, I won't be polite. Thank you." Zhang Yang patted the box and then said to Zong Linghan, "I learned some skills from a relative, and as for medical knowledge, I learned it from my Godmother."
"I should thank you," Zong Lingxu quickly replied.
"How about this? I'll accept the gift, and if I ever need help in the future, I'll definitely reach out to you. Let's not mention the glass incident again; it's pointless to keep saying thanks." Zhang Yang said immediately.
Zong Lingxu and Zong Linghan exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.
"By the way, that night you two went to eat roasted lamb legs and then to the bar..." Zhang Yang suddenly seemed to remember something and continued to ask.
