There are countless sufferings in the world, but it is also not lacking in those who do evil. The existence of one wicked person can disturb a hundred good people, while a hundred good people cannot change a truly malicious individual. 0

Some complain about the many hardships in their lives, yet find it difficult to reflect and change themselves. Others indulge in the splendor of life, rarely caring about the loneliness behind that splendor. 0

There are predetermined fates, but whether I am governed by my own destiny or not depends on whether I will undergo the cleansing of the waters of the galaxy and leap over the Dragon Gate, or sink into the fate recorded in the Death Register, drifting with the currents of Three Rivers Water. It all lies within the thoughts of Sentient Beings. 0

There are also those who, with a wave of their Daoist robe, become carefree like wild cranes and leisurely wander through life. Some attain enlightenment under trees, cutting off the roots of their troubles, wishing only to liberate Sentient Beings. There are those who sit high on platforms, swallowing mountains and rivers with their presence, earning the admiration of thousands and leaving their names for eternity. Of course, there are also those who view Sentient Beings as mere ants, wishing to tread upon the Sea of Blood, as well as those who selfishly indulge themselves, bringing disaster upon innocent lives. 0

In the dim light of ancient Buddhism, how many can attain enlightenment? The waves of the Sea of Suffering are vast. You and I can still turn back. 0

I helped Wang Ni cover her grave and took out a stack of Yellow Talismans from my pocket. 0

"Temple achievements will lead to relief. The host is sincere, offering incense and worship. The multitude below the altar all chant sacred names. The Sea of Suffering calls forth its own calamities; it bewilders people without a trace of awakening. The world does not recite Amitabha; they waste their time wandering this life. Observing the mountains reveals colors; listening closely to the water reveals silence. Spring passes while flowers remain; people come while birds do not fear. In August during Mid-Autumn, geese fly south; one cry brings sorrow. The wild geese may return one day, but lost souls do not come back." 0

This is not truly Daoist content; I learned it from an elder who presided over funerals in my village. Resting in peace requires some sense of ritual; I am unfamiliar with foreign customs but can piece together traditional phrases. 0

"Recitation of the Ten Faults, Zhu Yao Chang, Ten Thousand Emperors set up offerings. Silent River and Sea, Mountain Hidden in Clouds. Sun and Moon Stand Still, The Celestial Gem Cannot Move. Demonic Binding, Ghostly Purification. Revive the Dead, White Bone Transformation. Scholar of Ultimate Learning, Recitation of the Ten Faults. Thus Five Emperors' Guards, Three Realms Suppression, Demonic Essence Lost Eyes, Ghost Demon Extermination, Dying to Save, Obtain Life After Death. Therefore Scholar, Pollution Has Not Cleared, Body Not Yet Enlightened; Summon the Ten Directions; Unestablished Authority; Deity of Earth; Binding Spirit; yet merely dead and cannot be reborn. Recite This Chapter Lightly; calamity befalls the body. Offering Respectful Tribute; Portal Prosperity. Eternal Prosperity with good causes and conditions. Disaster-Free; Divine Guardian. The Sutra is Profound and Wonderful; Unparalleled Jade Capital. Limitless Salvation for The Origin of All Paths; Majestic Brahma whose virtue is hard to surpass." I formed a Zhen Gen hand seal and recited a passage from the Transcendental Sutra. 0

After finishing the Transcendental Sutra, I grabbed a handful of soil and sprinkled it on the grave mound. Turning back to Wang Ni, I said, "Let's go; there’s still work to be done." According to Mr. Cui, there are still some human traffickers' Vengeful Spirits deep in the forest that need to be dealt with quickly now that Mr. Cui is gone; otherwise it will become a Trouble later. 0

As we entered deeper into the forest, I sensed the presence of a Barrier. It must have been set up by Horse-Face when he left since it did not prevent Wang Ni and me from entering. 0

The resentment outside the forest had been completely cleared away, but when I entered this Barrier-enclosed area, I was taken aback. 0

Unlike outside the forest, this was an expanse of flat land with no trees at all. Even grass was hard to see; any that appeared was withered and lying on the ground without vitality. The entire open space was enveloped in Blood Qi. 0

Resentment accumulates and transforms into a white mist that drifts away. When the mist begins to turn red, it signifies that Resentment has started to change into Blood Qi. Here, my Resentment has completely turned red, and there are already signs of it beginning to condense into Blood Drop. (The lowest is Resentment, then Blood Qi, and when Blood Qi becomes saturated, it turns into Blood Drop. Blood Drop does not seep into the soil, which is also the reason for the formation of the Sea of Blood.) 0

Damn, what did this guy do to provoke such resentment? The Blood Qi is thick enough to cook a spicy blood stew... 0

Wang Ni is following behind me. Before she came in, I drew a Yellow Talisman for Exorcism and had her stick it on herself so that she wouldn't be affected by the intrusion of Blood Qi. Of course, before entering, I retrieved my Octagonal Taiji. (In my hands, this is considered a magical artifact; for Wang Ni, it can only serve the purpose of Exorcism. As for why I don't use it against Mr. Cui, it's because like Black and White Impermanence, it only works on souls.) 0

I raised my hand and bit my fingertip, smearing my fresh blood onto the Octagonal Taiji. 0

My wooden sword should have been left outside the forest where I fought with Mr. Cui, but that's fine; my Octagonal Taiji and wooden sword serve similar purposes. 0

Generally, there are two types of Octagonal Taiji: brass and wooden. My Gossip is wooden and not much larger than a one-yuan coin. According to Pervert, this is made from wood that has endured lightning tribulations from a Peach Blossom Tree. (Endured means it has not yet passed through the tribulation.) The front is engraved with a Taiji Diagram, surrounded by the Gossip in a circular arrangement, while its reverse center features a single-character seal called Seal, encircled by eight ancient symbols. The eight original symbols are: Urgent Command, wealth attraction, Three Disasters (zai), health, harmony, Zheng Yuan, Exorcism, and rebirth. 0

The Octagonal Taiji emitted a clear light, dispersing the surrounding Blood Qi within three feet of me. 0

"Sister Ni, don't stray too far from me," I instructed. 0

Wang Ni's abilities should be related to flames, but when faced with such malevolent entities, she is at a loss. Each has their own expertise; while I can't match her in combat, I am professional when it comes to Exorcism. 0

"Sentient beings accumulate grievances; deep grievances are hard to untangle. A lifetime of grievances leads to three lifetimes of retribution. Today I transmit this wondrous method to resolve all grievances. Listen closely and recite with intent; enemies will disperse." 0

I chanted the words of the Grudge-Breaking Spell, a spell for resolving enmities. It was my first time using it, so I wasn't sure how effective it would be... 0

Holding up the Octagonal Taiji, I walked ahead while reciting spells that would help guide the Vengeful Spirits. Behind me, Wang Ni urged me to move faster—this girl really fears nothing! 0

"Kala." Wang Ni seemed to have stepped on something and suddenly stopped. 0

"Yin Zheng'an, come look," she called me over. 0

"What's wrong?" I looked down at Wang Ni's feet. 0

On the ground was a skull. 0

"What's so strange about it? Who knows how many people have died here." 0

"No, I just feel like there's something inside this skull." 0

"Really?" I reached out to grab the skull. 0

"Wait!" Wang Ni stopped me. "Put these on." She handed me a pair of medical gloves. 0

After putting on the gloves, I reached for the skull again. 0

Strangely, it felt like there was something inside the cranial cavity, making it much heavier than a normal skull. I exerted force, preparing to lift it off the ground. 0

The skull seemed to be stuck in the ground. It was heavy, so I increased my strength, as if pulling up a carrot. With a firm tug, I pulled the skull out from the ground. It brought along several root-like tendrils, and blood began to drip onto the ground from these roots... 0
