Although it cannot be compared to Night Wanderer, my speed is not slow because Exorcism is the talisman I am most familiar with. My talismans can only be used by those with magical power, while Night Wanderer's talismans are universal, so I do not intend to stay here drawing talismans for long. Moreover, Night Wanderer has already drawn quite a few talismans, so there should be enough to manage.
As I was drawing the talismans, the Taiji Diagram in my Dantian was rapidly circulating my magical power, so my stamina had already been gradually replenished. By the time I finished drawing the yellow paper in my hand, I felt my body had regained its vitality.
I raised my head and exhaled a breath of Impurity, instantly feeling refreshed. I moved my limbs a bit. I left a few talismans in my pocket and put the rest back into the Seed Bag, ready to be used again.
Night Wanderer glanced at me and pulled out a large banner from somewhere. The banner depicted the original Exorcism Talisman.
"This can only be used once," Night Wanderer said as he tossed the banner to me. "Insert it into the ground and inject your magical power into it; the larger the range, the more magical power you have. Anyone possessed within that range will be temporarily immobilized."
"Thank you."
I caught the banner and placed it in the Seed Bag without further ado. I bowed to Night Wanderer and turned to leave.
"Take care of yourself!" Night Wanderer called out just before the door closed.
A large number of Infected had already been subdued and were being exorcised artificially. I saw those who had originally served as instructors each holding Exorcism Talismans and long sticks that were previously used to resist attackers. It seemed they truly were from the Execution Office; their style gave it away.
An Infected lunged at one of the instructors, knocking him down. The fallen instructor quickly slapped an Exorcism Talisman onto the Infected's forehead. After rolling over, he placed another Exorcism Talisman on his own wound, dispelling the dark energy before rejoining the fight.
Those Infected who had been controlled by Exorcism were naturally supported by people from behind. Whenever someone fell, another person would immediately rush over to drag them aside and carefully expel the dark energy. Those who had been exorcised regained consciousness after a while but looked dazed and weak, leaning against walls and gasping for breath. These individuals must not be allowed to leave campus; after all, we have not fully understood this Corpse Poison yet—who knows if there are any other complications?
"Where's Niu Hong?" I turned around to see Wang Ni speaking.
"Are you alright?" I scrutinized Wang Ni; aside from slightly irregular breathing, she seemed fine, which relieved me a bit. "Hong is in the teaching building; he should be okay."
"What could happen to me? I've been in the back all along."
"Have Uncle Xing and the others returned?"
Such a big incident has happened, yet I can't see Uncle Xing and Jin. Although Uncle Xing isn't very bright and Jin is extremely cold, if they were here, our fighting power would definitely increase several levels.
"No, it seems they went out to handle something together."
"Damn, what could be more important than what's happening here? Is it Wang Laozi?" I cursed inwardly. "What's the situation inside now?"
Although we have pushed the defense line inward quite a bit, those areas are mostly not severely infected. The inner playground and several teaching buildings are completely inaccessible.
"The situation isn't good. It would be great if we could attack from both inside and outside," Wenquxing said as he saw me approaching.
Wenquxing is the highest-ranking official here, but he comes from a chancellor background. He entered the Celestial Rank through the Investiture of the Gods, and while he can use some magical power, his combat ability isn't high. However, Wenquxing is the exact opposite of Uncle Xing; Uncle Xing has formidable combat strength but lacks intelligence, while Wenquxing may not have impressive combat power but possesses exceptional strategic skills!
Wenquxing's words awakened me from my stupor. That's right! We can infiltrate the enemy's ranks first! Didn't Night Wanderer give me a banner? Let's make use of it; I can take the banner to the playground and give them a surprise attack. I shared my thoughts with Wenquxing, who seemed excited and insisted that I personally take on this risky task.
I was originally prepared to go to the playground, but being singled out like this made me somewhat reluctant.
There's no choice; no one is more suitable than me to take the blame, so they always leave the biggest and darkest tasks for me.
Now that the plan is set, all that's left is to execute it immediately. Without hesitation, I activated Wind Walk and dashed toward the playground.
Suddenly, I felt a surge of joy as I realized that my Wind Walking Technique, which had stagnated for a long time, had actually made a breakthrough. The wind beneath my feet was faster and lighter, and I could even pause in mid-air using the wind's force.
There’s a reason why Wind Walking Technique ranks among the Eight Treasures Mystique. Although I can only use Wind Walk to run faster and jump higher for now, as my Wind Walking Technique improves, I'll be able to glide with the wind and eventually carry others with me when flying. When I master Wind Walking Technique to its fullest extent, I could even harness the wind's power to destroy a city—at least with winds equivalent to a level ten typhoon!
With the wind at my feet, I ran extremely fast; the playground wasn't far away, so I arrived in no time.
After I reached the playground, a red light followed closely behind me. Turning around, it was none other than Wang Ni.
"Why are you here?" I asked in surprise.
"To help you," Wang Ni replied matter-of-factly.
"Help with what?" I said sharply. "Get back unless you have a reason that can convince me."
"I am the best person to use that banner," Wang Ni said calmly.
Indeed, Wang Ni had a vast amount of magical power stored, making her the ideal candidate to use that banner. Moreover, this way, her safety would be ensured, and I could free my hands to deal with the already controlled Infected.
It seemed I really had no reason to refuse her.
I handed the banner to Wang Ni; we needed to devise a perfect plan first.
The highest point of the playground was the podium at the front, which had a rain shelter made of steel. So I planned to jump onto the roof of the podium with Wang Ni first; this would allow us to observe the entire playground and also ensure we wouldn't be attacked by the Infected there.
I shared my thoughts with Wang Ni, but she immediately looked troubled.
"I can't jump that high," Wang Ni seemed reluctant to show her weakness. Just then, an Infected was waving its arms and about to pounce on her.
I didn't have time to think further; I quickly scooped Wang Ni up in my arms, activated Wind Walk, and leaped onto the podium. Using several iron pipes supporting the podium's roof, I climbed step by step.
This wasn't the first time Wang Ni and I faced danger together, but it was my first time carrying her. Wang Ni was actually taller than me in high heels, but since her legs made up almost half of her height, she wasn't heavy at all. Besides, I was doing this to save her.
I shamelessly found an excuse for myself and felt more justified in slowing down how quickly I set her down.
Wang Ni's face turned pale; I couldn't tell if she was scared or angry. However, from what I knew about her, this little incident shouldn't frighten her too much.
Wang Ni took a couple of quick breaths as if she had made some kind of resolution to suppress the impulse to kick me off and turned to me with a sweet smile.
I looked at Wang Ni's smile and couldn't help but feel a chill run down my spine.
This wasn't the first time I had seen her smile, but it was the first time it felt so unnatural, like a tiger grinning while tearing apart its prey. How could I describe it? Right, it felt like we were about to swallow our favorite food in one bite.
"What do you want to do?" I instinctively took two steps back. "I can tell you, hitting someone is fine, but hitting their face hurts their pride."
"Don't worry," Wang Ni maintained that seemingly beautiful yet terrifying smile. "I won't hit you."
"That's good, heroine. I'm going down now." I really didn't want to spend more time with Wang Ni. "When I shout 'start,' you immediately plant the banner in the center of the playground!"
As I stepped down from the podium, I felt that the Wind Walk I had just managed to break through seemed to slow down again, as if Wang Ni had scared it back.
Just as I landed, it was like a magnet falling into a box of iron nails, with countless Infected rushing towards me.
The Infected were both male and female. When I saw a female, I carefully pushed her aside. When a male came charging at me, I kicked him away while ensuring not to hurt him.
What the hell, how could someone so ugly run so fast! But does appearance really matter when it comes to speed?
It should, right?
