Standing in front of the pitch-black door, I was suddenly filled with mixed emotions. 0

This was the first time I had been brought home by a girl, and not just any girl, but the school beauty, Sister Lin. Lin Miaomiao lived in an area very close to the city center, where every inch of land was precious. Although her house was located at a corner, it indicated that Lin Miaomiao came from a well-off family. 0

The area consisted of a cluster of villas, with each household occupying its own villa. Lin Miaomiao had mentioned before that her father was in real estate, so it wasn't surprising that they lived here. 0

Lin Miaomiao's house was predominantly white, and it was clear that the decoration was very meticulous. In the yard, there was an orange tree, not very tall, just slightly taller than a person. Next to the tree were a stone table and four stone stools. The yard had a path paved with Bluestone and also featured a dug-out fish pond. 0

Lin Miaomiao stood at the entrance and rang the doorbell. Someone inside must have been cooking because they hurried to open the door upon hearing her voice. 0

"Don't you have a key?" I looked at Lin Miaomiao and asked curiously. 0

"Of course I do," Lin Miaomiao replied nonchalantly. "This is my home." 0

"Then why are you calling someone to open the door?" I was even more puzzled. 0

"If my dad sees you, he might chase you away, so it's easier for you to leave," Lin Miaomiao said mischievously. 0

"Then why did you bring me here?" I felt like I was being tricked again by this girl. 0

Lin Miaomiao covered her mouth and giggled. "Relax! I just didn't want my parents to be startled. Also, I've already thought of your identity. You’re my senior from the Law Department whom I invited over to help." 0

Good idea; I really hadn't thought of that. This girl was quite thoughtful to have planned this out. But there was still a problem! 0

"Miss, I'm studying law?" 0

"What's wrong? This identity is great." 0

"You know a bit about the law, but I don't understand anything at all." Even if you placed a law book in front of me, it knows me, but I don't know it! 0

"Just make something up, your speaking skills are so good." 0

Am I good at speaking? Do you really believe that? Lies deserve to be struck by lightning; however, Lin Miaomiao's family has installed several lightning rods, so I should be safe. 0

As we were talking, the door opened, and a middle-aged woman who looked very much like Lin Miaomiao stood at the entrance. 0

"Mom!" Lin Miaomiao rushed to hug the middle-aged woman like a fledgling swallow and said sweetly, "I missed you so much." 0

"Hey, hey, hey, Miao Miao, you're back! Get down from there. What are you doing? You're such a big girl and still acting spoiled." The middle-aged woman walked around the wall, holding a cooking spoon in her hand, clearly having been cooking in the house: "Who are these people?" 0

"Oh, Auntie, I'm Lin Miaomiao's Senior. She had a little issue at home and asked me to come help out." I guess I'm quite a good actor; although I don't fully agree with Lin Miaomiao's characterization of me, I quickly got into the role. 0

"Oh, Miaomiao's Senior." The aunt looked at me with some suspicion: "Come in, you don't need to change your shoes." 0

Once inside, there was a staircase. The second floor had a semi-open kitchen, while the living room was on the first floor. You could see the kitchen from the living room. 0

A tall and thin middle-aged man came down the stairs wearing glasses and an elegant-looking shirt, holding a plate of freshly cooked dishes. 0

"Wow, Miao Miao is back? It's rare for you to remember your parents!" the man joked. "And who is this?" 0

This must be Lin Miaomiao's Father. Overall, Lin Miaomiao does resemble him quite a bit; however, she didn't inherit his refined demeanor. 0

"This is my Senior who studies law; he came to help take a look at your situation." Lin Miaomiao took the dish from the man's hands and placed it on the table. 0

"Hello, Uncle, my name is Yin Zheng'an." 0

"Oh, have you eaten? Together?" Uncle invited. 0

"Yes, yes, Senior Brother, the food my mom cooks is really delicious," Lin Miaomiao called out to her senior brother in a sweet voice, which made me feel a bit nauseous. 0

I looked down and saw that Lin Miaomiao was someone who couldn't live without meat, but her parents ate quite lightly. 0

"Come, come, come, try Auntie's specialty," Auntie said as she came down the stairs with a plate of braised fish. 0

"Thank you, Auntie, but I'm sorry, I practice Buddhism and eat vegetarian," I casually replied. However, it was quite absurd to be studying law while being a Buddhist; wasn't that a bit contradictory? 0

"You can just eat more vegetables," Lin Miaomiao said as she picked up some stir-fried lettuce for me. 0

Auntie and Uncle exchanged complex glances but didn't say anything further and lowered their heads to eat. The atmosphere suddenly became very awkward. 0

After finishing the meal, Lin Miaomiao and I whispered together. 0

"Your parents really seem to see me as their son-in-law." 0

"Dream on," Lin Miaomiao rolled her eyes at me. "From the way you sound, it seems like you think you're at a loss." 0

"Of course I'm at a loss; I have legitimate inheritance after all." 0

"Please, that would be a bargain for you. In my eyes, I'm very discerning and wouldn't even look at you," Lin Miaomiao pretended to be proud. 0

"Hey, what kind do you like?" 0

"If it's someone like your cousin, that would be nice." 0

It seems that Lin Miaomiao prefers boys who are a bit more well-behaved, but Red Boy is definitely not that. 0

"He did break your leg once," I joked. 0

"That's true," Lin Miaomiao pondered. 0

"What do you think about that guy named Zhang Lei?" Zhang Lei is our industry's 'Zhang Fan.' 0

"He's not as good as you," Lin Miaomiao said with a laugh, playfully punching me. 0

"Well, Mother of the Child, you should wash the dishes first. Yin, come with me for a moment." My uncle walked out of the kitchen. 0

"I'm going," I said with determination as if heading to the gallows. 0

"Go on, go on," Lin Miaomiao waved her hand. 0

My uncle took me to a study on the third floor, pulled out a stool for me, and turned to look for some documents. 0

"Sit down; I'll find the case for you to take a look at." 0

Even if you give it to me, I won't understand it! Did you really think I came here to help you with your lawsuit? 0

"Hey, by the way, what does Miao Miao usually like to eat?" Uncle seemed casual, but there was an underlying tension in his words. 0

I really didn't know much about that; I only knew she was someone who loved meat. 0

"Potato chips? That should be it?" I had seen potato chips around Lin Miaomiao often, so I just guessed an answer. 0

Upon hearing my answer, Uncle seemed to relax a bit and stopped looking for evidence, plopping down right across from me. 0

"Are you really not Miao Miao's boyfriend?" Uncle asked in surprise. 0

"Why would she like me?" I shrugged. "Is that how you determine I'm not?" 0

"Miao Miao hates snacks like potato chips. She prefers cake." 0

No wonder she always gave others potato chips as snacks; turns out she doesn't like them herself. It makes sense since most of what I saw at her place was bread. 0

"Is that so?" I scratched my head. "I never noticed." 0

"Are you really studying law?" Uncle asked, puzzled. "Haven't heard of JZ Normal University or the Law Department." 0

I actually am studying law, but it's more about Taoist Arts. 0

"Uncle, let me put it this way." I wasn't sure how to explain it: "Do you believe in Demon Gods?" 0

Lin Miaomiao's dad looked at me with a confused expression. Well, anyone would be taken aback by someone claiming to study law suddenly asking if they believe in Demon Gods. 0

"You may not believe it, but the old man you accidentally killed once transformed into a Wraith and haunted Lin Miaomiao. I came here for that reason." 0

Seeing that Lin Miaomiao's father still didn't believe me, I took out a Fire Talisman and said, "Watch closely." I ignited the Fire Talisman, and flames danced and swirled in my palm, yet they did not spread outward; they simply hovered quietly in my hand. It was a Spell, which resembled more of a magic trick. However, I couldn't possibly call Black Wuchang over, could I? Yes, that would be more convincing, but I was afraid it would scare Lin Miaomiao's father. 0

Yet Uncle still seemed half-convinced. I had no choice but to take out my Peach Wood Sword. "Uncle, watch carefully." 0

With a light flick of my finger, the wooden sword shot out of the window like an arrow, circling three or four times in midair before returning to my hand. 0

"Now you should believe me, right?" I thought to myself. 0

"I can't believe it; truly unbelievable," Lin Miaomiao's father said as he shook his head. "Are you from Maoshan or Longhu Mountain?" 0

"Huh?" What was going on? Lin Miaomiao's father knew about Maoshan and Longhu Mountain? "Neither, actually." 0

"Neither?" Uncle said with some disappointment. "Which sect do you belong to then?" 0

"How do you know all this?" 0

Lin Miaomiao's father sighed and pulled out an old book from somewhere. The book looked ancient; its cover was nearly worn out and seemed more like a diary written by an ancient person than a printed book. 0

"Our Lin family was once part of Maoshan." 0

His words were shocking; I was taken aback. You mean you are descendants of Maoshan? But this also made it easier to convince Lin Miaomiao's father. 0

"Our family joined Maoshan when it was first established. Unfortunately, we fell on hard times and gradually withdrew from the sect. Now, hardly anyone knows this secret anymore. I always thought Maoshan was just a rumor, but when Miao Miao's grandfather passed away, he gave me this book. Our Lin family once received guidance from a Master who instructed that this book should be handed over to a visiting Cultivator. I never took it seriously until now." 0

Lin Miaomiao's father solemnly handed me the ancient book. 0

"I can't understand the things written on the top; it should be something used by your Cultivation people." 0

Taking the ancient book, I noticed it was much heavier than an ordinary book, likely made of sheepskin. In China, even in ancient times, books made of sheepskin were quite rare; only some very special items would be written on such leather paper. 0

However, I seemed to not recognize what was written in this book either. I could vaguely sense words like 'Kui' and 'Qing,' among others, and there were also several extremely obscure Talisman symbols, which should belong to a very advanced sealing charm or something similar. 0

"Uncle, I can't understand this book either." 0

"Oh, really?" Uncle pondered for a moment and then hesitantly said, "Then let's keep it here for now. If Father's Cultivator is indeed you, then come back to get it." 0

"Okay." 0

"Let's set that aside for now. What happened with you Miao Miao being haunted by a ghost?" 0

I recounted the entire incident about subduing the Hungry Ghost, and I truly saw his protective talisman around Uncle's neck. 0

By the time we sorted everything out, it was already midnight. Uncle asked Auntie to clear out a guest room for me to stay in. 0
