People have three types of anger, especially when faced with provocations from those beneath them. If someone truly holds a high position, they might not care at all; even if they do care, it won't show on the surface, and any actions taken will be dealt with later.
However, the Gold Chain Man I was facing clearly wasn't that kind of person. After enduring my provocation, the veins on Gold Chain Man's forehead bulged out, prominently displayed in the air.
I looked at Gold Chain Man, raising an eyebrow with obvious disdain, and smirked, letting a contemptuous gaze escape.
Gold Chain Man was likely the person called in by Old Man's Son to handle the situation. He slightly nodded towards Old Man's Son, who also responded with a barely noticeable nod; I couldn't tell what it represented.
But in the next second, I understood what it meant. Gold Chain Man rolled up his sleeves and marched towards me with a fierce glare.
"What are you doing? Are you going to throw a punch?" I took a step back, pretending to be terrified.
"I'm going to hit you." As he spoke, his fist was already in front of me. I could dodge, but didn't completely evade; instead, I tilted my shoulder slightly, and his fist landed directly on my cheekbone, causing a sharp pain.
Since he made the first move, I wouldn't hold back anymore.
I leaned back to avoid Gold Chain Man's follow-up punch, then pivoted on my toes and circled behind him. With a light kick, I tripped him.
Gold Chain Man fell to the ground awkwardly. Taking advantage of his momentary confusion, I knelt on his back and restrained his arms, rendering him immobile.
"Still want to fight?" I sneered.
"Let me go." Gold Chain Man struggled on the ground, trying to break free from my grip.
"Do you still want to fight?" I tightened my hold. "If you want to throw punches, I'm here for it."
"Brother, brother, let him go." Old Man's Son hurried over.
"What? Do you want to gang up on me?" I looked up and shouted. "You should think about your own capabilities first."
"You dare to make a move!" The previous Shrew pushed through the crowd and pointed at me angrily.
"Go ahead and curse me; keep cursing." I tightened my grip again, causing Gold Chain Man to let out a scream like a slaughtered pig.
"Shut up!" The Elder's Second Son shouted at his daughter-in-law, then turned to me, "Brother, can we let go of the person first? Let's talk calmly."
Gold Chain dared to make a move, but the Elder's Son would not. We were all outsiders; even if a fight broke out, it wouldn't affect the final outcome of the discussion between Lin Miaomiao and the Elder's Son.
However, if the Elder's Son did strike, Lin Miaomiao, who was originally in the wrong, would suddenly become the victim. In that case, he wouldn't be able to shamelessly demand that money.
"Can we talk nicely now?" I coldly looked at them. This wasn't a time for reasoning; I needed to intimidate them to leave Lin Miaomiao some leeway.
"You let go first," White-eyed Wolf pointed at me.
I slowly released my grip, stood up from Gold Chain's side, and faced the Old Man's Son, looking him in the eye. "If you want to fight, I can cooperate, but it would be best if we could reason things out."
"Who are you? Do you have any authority?" A man with Glasses behind the Elder's Son asked.
"He does," Lin Miaomiao shouted from the second floor. "He is my boyfriend."
Wow, sister, do you have to be so fierce? Can't you be a little more subtle?
"Alright then, let's go inside and talk," the Old Man's Son stepped back as well.
"Okay." I replied and turned to leave.
The Old Man's Son walked alongside me. What I didn't see was that he subtly gestured behind him, and then White-eyed Wolf picked up a stone from the side, trying to attack me when I wasn't paying attention.
After practicing with Red Boy several times, I had gradually become more sensitive to my surroundings. Suddenly sensing movement behind me, I instinctively dodged to the side just as White-eyed Wolf swung the stone past me.
"Damn." I was genuinely angry now; I really didn't want to reason anymore. Since that's how it is, I wouldn't hold back.
I activated Wind Walk. Previously, I thought it wasn't a big deal and didn't take it seriously. But now that I could use my powers, it was no different from Ip Man; at least taking on ten ordinary people shouldn't be a problem.
This time, instead of sneaking around for an attack, I turned around and faced White-eyed Wolf directly. Without hesitation, I threw a punch right at his face, hitting him squarely on the nose.
Instantly, White-eyed Wolf's face looked like a dye shop explosion; before anyone could react, my left leg struck again directly at White-eyed Wolf's vital point. He immediately curled up on the ground like a cooked shrimp, howling in pain.
By the time everyone reacted, I was already sitting on the belly of the White-eyed Wolf, raising my hand to slap.
"Still trying to ambush me?" I brought my hand down hard.
"Do you dare again?" Another slap followed.
"Are you convinced now?" Another slap.
"I'm convinced, I'm convinced," the White-eyed Wolf quickly howled.
"Not convinced yet?" I deliberately slapped again.
"I'm convinced, I'm convinced, he’s convinced, brother, please stop," Old Man's Son hurriedly came to pull me back.
"This is the last time. I still advocate reasoning, but if it happens again, I might not be so reasonable," I pointed my finger at Old Man's Son's nose and said coldly, "Keep your brother in check."
"It was him who signaled to attack just now," Lin Miaomiao hinted while leaning on the windowsill.
"Miao Miao!" Lin Miaomiao's Father interrupted.
"Come inside." I invited Old Man's Son into Lin Miaomiao's home.
As always, if you can fight, try to talk less; winning people over with virtue doesn’t work against someone stronger!
I took it upon myself to make a decision for Lin Miaomiao and the others. It was better to lay everything out rather than continue causing Trouble; letting the old man rest in peace sooner would be good too.
"Grandma, it's cold on the ground, please get up." I bent down to help the old lady up; my previous conflict with her son had nothing to do with her.
However, she didn't appreciate my kindness. She turned over and muttered, "My husband has been lying in the freezer for so long; what’s wrong with me lying here for a while?"
This stubborn old lady—how could I just let her lie there?
I leaned down to assist her and secretly used Wind Walk to lift her up. To those watching, it appeared as if the old lady was cooperating and sitting up on her own.
Since she had sat up, the old lady felt embarrassed to sit back down. I helped her into the room and brought her a cup of tea, and then we began discussing the agreement.
Lin Miaomiao's father had invited a real lawyer. To be honest, I really didn't understand this, so it was better to leave it to the professionals.
In the lobby on the first floor, Lin Miaomiao's parents sat on one sofa, while Old Man's Son only brought along that man with glasses from before. It seemed that Glasses was also a professional lawyer. As soon as the two "professionals" spread out the documents, they began to argue fiercely.
I couldn't understand a word, so I simply sat aside and dozed off. Suddenly, a loud crash woke me up, and I saw Old Man's Son storming out with an angry expression. An ashtray lay shattered on the ground, and Lin Miaomiao's father looked helpless as he discussed something with the lawyer.
"Auntie, how is it? Is there any result?" I asked Lin Miaomiao's mother.
"Sigh, they insist on wanting 100,000; otherwise, this matter won't be settled. Miao Miao's father will first bury the old man, and our family will cover the expenses, but there's no way they agreed."
"Eventually, they agreed to hold the funeral first but wanted us to pay 40,000 upfront," said the lawyer beside her.
Isn't that asking for too much? If we went through legal procedures directly, we wouldn't even need to compensate 40,000.
"Then I only have 80,000 in hand; I offered 80,000 first, but when they heard that, they smashed the ashtray."
"Where is the old man's body now?" I asked.
"It's frozen in the mortuary's freezer."
"I'll take care of the old man's side, but I'm afraid I can't help with the compensation."
The old man's side was simple; his soul was definitely still lingering in the Underworld. It would just take finding him to give the old lady a dream to resolve things.
"Miao Miao, I'm going to go back and sleep a bit more; don't come disturb me," I said to Lin Miaomiao.
It was still early; however, around 10 o'clock or so, I planned to head to the Underworld first to arrange things.
I summoned Judgment Seal and opened a portal that landed directly on Yellow Springs Road. Taking out Death Register, I walked while flipping through the previous records of the old man.
I remembered that he had told me his name before, but it had been too long ago for me to recall. I could only search one by one based on conditions. Right! I remembered that the old man's surname was Song!
After searching for a while, I looked up and found myself in Yama's Hall. It was empty, with no one around. If it had been my first time here, I would have been terrified by such a scene, but I had already grown accustomed to these things.
I closed the Death Register and lifted my leg to enter. Just then, a shadow approached me—Black Wuchang!
"Hey, Old Black, you're here too?"
"Yeah, just got off work. What brings you here?" Old Black looked rather listless. "That Judge outfit suits you quite well."
"Isn't it because someone asked me to? I'm looking for an old man. Sigh, Old Black, is there any way to find someone in the Death Register if I don't know their name?"
"Who are you looking for? Have you seen him?" Old Black scratched his head and asked.
"I have seen him, but I don't remember much."
"Try placing your hand on the cover of the Death Register and recall what the person looks like."
Following Old Black's instructions, I placed my hand on the cover of the Death Register and concentrated on recalling the old man's appearance and any information I could remember.
Before long, the old man's likeness appeared in the Death Register, along with detailed information about his birth date and life history.
It seems that the Death Register can also search by keywords.
