Whether it's the Greedy Ghost or the Corpse-Feeding Ghost, they are both types of ghosts that are not skilled in combat. The Greedy Ghost incites people to covet wealth, while the Corpse-Feeding Ghost merely possesses the bodies of the dead. They are considered lower-tier ghosts, so dealing with them is relatively easy for me, especially since the Corpse-Feeding Ghost in front of me is also labeled as 'Weak.'
As I see the blood-red dagger in the Corpse-Feeding Ghost's hand about to pierce my chest and stab into my heart, I move my knee to push against the Corpse-Feeding Ghost. Since it is a ghost that inhabits a corpse, even if I crush the body it occupies, it will feel no pain at all.
Perhaps this Corpse-Feeding Ghost thinks that I won't go hard on Master Song's corpse, but does it really think I'm an easy target?
Although Exorcism Talismans have no effect on ghosts, they generally still fear Peach Blossom Wood. However, this Corpse-Feeding Ghost is not afraid of Peach Blossom Wood. But do you really think I have no way to deal with you?
Talisman Magic consists of eight original talismans: Urgent Command, Wealth Attraction, Three Disasters, Health, Harmony, Zheng Yuan, Exorcism, and Rebirth. Among them, 'Urgent Command' is specifically designed to restrain ghosts.
Urgent Command is not drawn casually; it comes in many varieties. The most famous one is "The Supreme Old Lord Issues Orders with Urgency." But there are also "Totem King Command," "Manifestation of the Holy True Monarch, Urgent as the Law's Command," "Eastern Emperor's Command," "Turtle Spirit Matron, Urgent as the Law," and "Starry Old Immortal, Urgent as the Law."
The last one doesn't count; clearly that fellow has boundless magical power.
For dealing with such ghosts, the earlier deities mentioned are ineffective. In every profession, there are experts; in our field, there is a very famous figure who was highly regarded even in the previous life of the Night Wanderer.
That person’s surname is Zhong, given name Kui, courtesy name Zheng Nan. Although he was born with a stern face and unusual appearance, he was capable of stabilizing nations through literature and subduing demons through martial prowess. Originally a master, he later received imperial recognition and became known as 'Tang, The Holy Ruler Bestowing Blessings and Protecting the Home.' It was he who imprisoned previous ghosts in hell; because great demons feared him, he earned another title: 'King of Ghosts!'
Zhong Kui not only left behind methods for subduing demons but also created a very famous talisman: 'The Great General Has Arrived!' This talisman can also be used to suppress corpses; thus many people use it to capture zombies—this is another story.
If Zhong Kui personally draws this talisman, it should be considered a Fate Talisman. However, if drawn by someone else, then this talisman would be one type of Urgent Command and can be regarded as a special original talisman.
Since receiving Yama King's order to capture ghosts, I have prepared many 'General' talismans ('The Great General Has Arrived,' commonly referred to as corpse-suppressing talismans or General Talismans), stacked in piles within my Seed Bag.
Earlier mentioned was that the Corpse-Feeding Ghost carried a frozen 'Reduce' BFF; thus I intentionally created an opening for it to get close to me. Now we are at a stalemate; it attempts to drive the blood-red dagger into my heart while I deliberately hold its hands to control it.
As the saying goes, "A fence needs three stakes; a hero needs three helpers." The Corpse-Feeding Ghost's companions have already been beaten into a state where they cannot take care of themselves by four Brawlers. But I still have companions! My companions are lively and full of energy!
A delicate, slender hand reached out from the side, holding a general's talisman, and pressed it onto the forehead of the Corpse-Feeding Ghost. The Corpse-Feeding Ghost immediately lost its ability to move; now all I needed to do was inject my mana into the General Talisman, and the Corpse-Feeding Ghost would be suppressed within it.
Releasing the Corpse-Feeding Ghost's grip on the Dagger, I took a step back, looking at the Corpse-Feeding Ghost with a forced smile.
The Corpse-Feeding Ghost was pinned in place by the General Talisman and could no longer move. Its true form flickered in and out of visibility above Master Song, which was a sign that the Corpse-Feeding Ghost was about to be pulled out from the corpse.
"This ghost is so ugly," Lin Miaomiao said while pinching her nose.
That’s just Lin Miaomiao for you; if it were another girl, she would probably just scream for help without any other course of action. Lin Miaomiao's courage had been growing, but of course, this wasn't entirely due to me—she had simply been scared into it.
"Is this enough?" Lin Miaomiao asked.
"Pretty much; just need to seal it in my gourd," I replied, shaking the gourd in my hand. This was also a treasure passed down from Zhong Kui, although Senior Zhong usually sliced ghosts in half with his sword before tossing them inside.
It’s possible he could chop them into five pieces if he got a bit carried away and ended up cutting off four fingers.
But I wasn’t that violent. Why? Because it's too exhausting to chop people—no, chopping ghosts is just too tiring.
As I walked over, preparing to inject my mana into the General Talisman, I noticed that fine white hairs were beginning to grow on Master Song's corpse, and his body started to take on a bloody hue.
"Borrowing a corpse to return to life? Are you insane?" I quickly stepped back three paces and hurriedly pushed Lin Miaomiao into the circle of the Golden Light Spell. "Don't come out! Whatever you do, don't come out!"
Master Song raised his head and looked at me coldly with a strange smile. A dark red blood began to ooze from his head. The blood flowed down his forehead, soaking the General Talisman that Lin Miaomiao had placed on his head, causing it to fall off.
Although the Corpse-Feeding Ghost resided in another person's corpse, once they obtained a very satisfactory body, they could directly inject their True Spirit into it through the method of "borrowing a corpse to return to life."
The Essence of Man refers to the soul, but ghosts are souls born from the earth, so their essence is True Spirit, a special form of Spiritual Energy.
However, a corpse is just a corpse. Even if a Corpse-Feeding Ghost gives its True Spirit to the corpse, it cannot revive it; that is, what is meant to rot will continue to rot.
In the past, there have been examples of Corpse-Feeding Ghosts 'borrowing a corpse to return to life,' but that particular Corpse-Feeding Ghost was smarter and borrowed the body of an emperor. Of course, in the end, it lost the Nation that had been passed down through generations.
But what benefit do you gain from borrowing Master Song's corpse? It’s old and has already been dissected (it was examined during the process of determining the cause of death at the Transportation Hall), and after being frozen for so long, it will surely be decaying quickly once it comes out.
“Caw Caw, I am Black Wuchang.” The Corpse-Feeding Ghost laughed while holding a Dagger: “Now let’s see what you can do!”
The Corpse-Feeding Ghost had already entered Master Song's **body**, unable to enter hell. Moreover, after its True Spirit merged with Master Song's **body**, it could not be extracted again. This means that neither the gourd nor the General Talisman would work against it now. Additionally, the corpse that had been frozen in the icebox was beginning to thaw slowly, and a foul smell started to waft through the air.
Perhaps I should call back those four ‘Brawlers.’
The Corpse-Feeding Ghost didn’t give me a chance to call for help and lunged forward with its knife. Having completely fused with the corpse, its speed had increased significantly.
I barely dodged the Dagger, pulling out the Short Stick I had used during my sparring with Zhang Fan, one in each hand, ready to confront the Corpse-Feeding Ghost. Using wooden swords now would be less effective than using the Short Stick, as I wouldn’t feel bad if they broke. Moreover, Peach Blossom Wood was ineffective against a Corpse-Feeding Ghost.
The Dagger spun in the hands of the Corpse-Feeding Ghost, transforming into a Reverse Grip Knife. It stepped forward and slashed in front of me. I blocked it with my stick and was about to use my skill, Wind Walk, but realized that if I dodged, it could rush straight for the door.
Naturally, I couldn’t let it escape. So I gave up my usual agile fighting style and began swinging my Short Stick, engaging directly with the Corpse-Feeding Ghost. Although I had two sticks, even if I hit it, it wouldn’t feel pain. However, if I got cut by the Dagger, even just once, I would lose—there must be poison on that knife!
The Corpse-Feeding Ghost, relying on its lack of fear for pain, grew bolder as I retreated further.
“Master, go all out; it's fine,” came Master Song's voice from within the Judgment Seal.
Dealing with the corpse, I actually had a way to handle it, but I was concerned about Master Song's presence. It seemed that Master Song could read my thoughts and urged me to stop holding back.
"Master, I won't hide it from you. I've used most of my methods, but the best way to deal with a corpse is to burn it," I conveyed my thoughts to the Judgment Seal.
"It's fine, it needs to be burned sooner or later. Just consider this an advance; it will also help me resolve my lingering attachment. By the way, you can give my son's share of your ten years of Lifespan to him; just split it between the two of them," Master Song said generously. Having died once, he had a different perspective on things.
Master Song indeed treated both of his sons equally; he didn't want the Lifespan I gave him and preferred to split it between his sons.

In fact, the cost of increasing two people's Lifespan by five years each is greater than giving one person an additional fifteen years. To be safe, I prepared several difficult-to-draw yet powerful Seals on me, including the Sunfire Talisman and Yin Fire Talisman. Yin Fire was the most powerful flame I currently mastered, but I still needed to rely on the Seal to unleash it.
Although Yang Fire would be more effective in this situation, the problem was that there was no sunlight in the funeral home! Therefore, Yang Fire couldn't be used here.
I took out a Yin Fire Talisman: "Three Purities Edict, Daoist Law of Correct Origin, ignite Yin Fire and burn away Evil Energy."
The Yin Fire Talisman shook in the air, igniting with white flames; that pale color was the hallmark of Yin Fire.
I threw the Seal at the Corpse-Feeding Ghost, and in an instant, Yin Fire enveloped the Corpse-Feeding Ghost.
